Yet, the biggest reason humans could keep holding on was their incredible survival instinct—no matter how many times they were killed, they kept appearing from somewhere, and in the end, they produced a Hero who surpassed the Demon King.

Of course, even if they managed to reclaim the dominance of the continent from the Demon Race and drove them back to the barren Demon Realm, as soon as the Hero died and a generation passed, they were pushed back to the corners of the continent.

In the end, the history of ownership over the prosperous continent repeated itself in an eerily similar pattern.

A fleeting victory for humans.

Followed by the Demon Race’s return and counterattack, forcing humans to flee to the harsh northern lands.

Throughout these long years, attempts to break this repeating pattern weren’t entirely absent.

The 265th Hero in the Temple’s records, a superhuman who thoroughly defeated dozens of previous Heroes and even wounded the body of the current Demon King, hailed as the strongest in history.

Piling up the corpses of thousands, tens of thousands—uncountable numbers of Demon Race members—he destroyed everything in his path with a cruelty unbecoming of a Hero.

A true unprecedented monster who turned the Demon-controlled continent into a sea of flames, engraving the true meaning of hell into their complacent minds.
