Pet.
By definition, it means something you love, keep close, handle, and enjoy.
Here, the word “pet” combines with images of various animals, evoking the image of a lovingly cared-for dog or cat, or even small creatures like beetles or mantises.
What else could there be?
Some people raise birds or fish, and sometimes even animals much larger than humans as pets. The diversity of species is endless, but their purpose is all the same.
The reason people keep animals as pets is because their presence brings comfort to their owners.
These small creatures bring joy to their owners, becoming a comforting support in the cold, harsh reality.
The pets I think of are beings that play this role.
“Tina. Come here, will you?”
“Sharrione!”
Without hesitation, I ran towards the voice calling me. With a harmless smile on my lips, I nestled into the arms of the woman calling me.
“Oh, Tina.”
Hearing the voice calling me, I ran without hesitation to its owner. With a pure smile on my face, I nestled into the woman’s embrace.
The woman called Sharrione, with a soft blush, carefully lifted me and sat me on the sofa. I lay comfortably on the sofa, resting my head on Sharrione’s lap as if I had returned to a long-lost haven.
“Sharrione, your skin is so beautiful today. I wish I could be even half as beautiful as you….”
“Don’t say that. Tina, you are the most lovely and pretty pet I’ve ever seen.”
“I’m so happy you see me that way.”
As I smiled innocently, Sharrione gently stroked my head with a soft blush on her cheeks.
It wasn’t just her.
“Tina, haven’t you gained a little weight?”
“Have I?”
“Even chubby Tina is adorable, but still, Tina’s loveliness lies in her beauty. Try to lose a little weight.”
“Hehe, yes, Bersha.”
..I guess I’ll have to starve for a while.
“It’s okay, Tina. I can still love you even if you get a little chubby.”
“Really? Thank you, Mardian.”
At Mardian’s words, Bersha frowned with discomfort.
“…Lady Mardian. Are you trying to monopolize Tina’s affection?”
“Huhu…who knows?”
Mardian, Bersha, Sharrione, and all the women surrounding me were daughters of powerful noble families.
They all gently caressed me with tender hands.
They softly stroked my belly, carefully touched my head, and affectionately tickled my chin.
They treated me not as a person, but as a pet. As their soft hands passed over my body, I closed my eyes and smiled faintly.
“Really…Tina is so lovely.”
“That’s right. Actually, I tried raising a pet dog a few days ago, but it barked so fiercely. I had no choice but to abandon it on the street.”
“Oh, Tina is enough as a pet. She doesn’t bite, after all.”
The women’s elegant laughter filled the hall. I used their laughter as background music and looked around.
Men discussing politics, women exchanging sharp words with fans covering their mouths, all dressed in splendid attire.
Dazzling chandeliers adorned the ceiling, luxurious interiors caught the eye, and the sweet sound of instruments and the enticing aroma of food filled the air. This was the social circle.
This was a small battlefield where a single word could become a sharp sword, and a single glance could be a piercing arrow. Only the strong survived, and the weak were left behind in this cruel and cold world.
In such a fierce battlefield, I was called the “harmless pet lady.”
It might seem strange to call a person a pet, but I preferred it this way. In such a place, just playing along would bring money to my feet.
Isn’t it said that a dog’s life is a happy one?
I definitely thought so.
Until the protagonist of this world tried to imprison me.
