Chapter 60: The Legacy of Krul

Chapter 60: The Legacy of Krul

After receiving the handover command from Suratu instead of Alexander, Victor exited Alexander’s chamber.

Next, he needed to gather the troops and hasten the arrival of the Human Soldiers to Silnas Island.

Once Victor departed, Suratu didn’t linger in Alexander’s room either.

He left the room and arrived at the center of the island.

Here was the site where the Elven Race had once drawn the Magic Circle.

Currently, it was firmly guarded by Human Soldiers, with a group of Mages intently studying the giant Magic Circle that had already been largely destroyed.

Even though the giant Magic Circle was mostly ruined, it remained the best trophy they gained from this battle.

If the Humans could restore and learn this giant Magic Circle, their magical prowess would climb to new heights.

Previously, when witnessing the Elf Mages unleashing such powerful War Magic, these Human Mages had been green with envy.

Now each of them wanted to contribute to the restoration of the giant Magic Circle, eager to enable their race to use this powerful Magic Circle and boost their magical capabilities.

Similarly, they would also secure their place in history.

Suratu’s arrival went unnoticed by the Mages.

They were completely absorbed in their research.

Suratu didn’t mind and stood to the side, watching the Mages and the massive Magic Circle they were working on.

Restoring the giant Magic Circle was a monumental challenge for the Humans.

Until now, their understanding of the giant Magic Circle had been zero.

After a while, one of the Mages noticed Suratu’s presence.

It was none other than one of Suratu’s students—Davis.

“Teacher!”

Upon seeing Suratu, Davis called out and rushed over.

At this moment, the other Mages also noticed Suratu and turned their attention to him.

Suratu nodded at them and said, “Don’t mind me too much; continue your research on the giant Magic Circle.”

Then he focused on Davis who had approached, asking, “How is the research on the giant Magic Circle progressing?”

Davis shook his head, looking quite disheartened. “There hasn’t been much progress yet. The critical parts were all destroyed by the Elven Race.”

“That’s to be expected. Besides, even if there’s no breakthrough, don’t worry too much; as long as we put in the effort, it’s fine.”

“Teacher, we’ll do our best!”

With Suratu’s reassurance, Davis felt much better, responding in a determined tone.

Suratu nodded in satisfaction.

His gaze shifted to the Mages who had once again immersed themselves in the study of the Magic Circle. “However, we can’t stay here for too long. Let’s get the Magic Circle drawn down quickly.”

Davis replied with a smile, “Teacher, we’ve already started tracing it.”

“In that case, speed it up; time is pressing for us.”

Davis looked at his teacher with confusion.

He thought his teacher seemed a bit off today.

His teacher had always been very patient; why was he suddenly so anxious today?

Davis couldn’t quite understand it.

What could possibly have caused his teacher to change so dramatically in such a short time?

He never imagined that their Emperor was currently in a life-and-death situation.

A slight delay could mean he wouldn’t make it back.

Noticing Davis’s serious confusion, Suratu hurriedly coughed a couple of times before saying, “We’ve already delayed here for too long and wasted too many resources; we must act swiftly now.”

“Yes!”

Davis responded but didn’t dwell on it further.

However, Suratu’s mind began to wander.

Alexander’s severe injury and near-death experience had truly disrupted their plans.

Thinking of that Elf Admiral who dealt Alexander a heavy blow just before his death, Suratu sighed deeply within.

Perhaps he should have intervened and prevented Alexander from facing Krul.

But if he hadn’t done so, the previous battle wouldn’t have gone so smoothly.

Krul was indeed a formidable opponent.

Even facing multiple attackers, he had inflicted serious injury on Alexander at the cost of his own life.

Suratu still recalled the determination in Krul’s eyes during that moment and felt a shiver run down his spine.

That guy was completely set on death.

He knew that the next strike from Alexander would take his life, yet he didn’t evade it and instead chose a mutually destructive approach.

He was trading life for life!

He was acutely aware that, faced with a group attack, he had no chance of survival left.

Dying sooner or later was still dying; since that was the case, he might as well take someone down with him while he still could.

And that unfortunate soul was the great Human Emperor—Alexander!

If they hadn’t provided timely emergency treatment to Alexander, he would already be dead by now.

But the current situation was hardly better than death.

If they were unable to get the Elven Race to heal Alexander, then he was undoubtedly doomed.

If Alexander died, Suratu could easily foresee what would happen.

Firstly, the expeditionary force could not possibly continue; secondly, the grand empire that Alexander had built would suffer tremendous blows, and whether it could withstand that would depend on Victor’s capabilities; finally, the Human Race would undeniably face significant losses.

Two days later.

Silnas Island.

On this day, the atmosphere across Silnas Island was filled with gloom.

For they had confirmed the news of Krul’s death.

The Elven Admiral, their protector, was gone, leaving a huge impact on the entire Elven Race, especially the residents on the island.

At the same time, they learned of Krul’s final words left before his passing.

According to his words, Silnas Island has returned to Airael, the Elven Queen, and all the troops under his command must pledge allegiance to Airael.

In other words, Airael was no longer a powerless figure.

Although she couldn’t intervene in the affairs of the royal city for now, Silnas Island was undeniably hers.

Furthermore, she could enter the Elven Council as the ruler of Silnas Island, thereby participating in the governance of the Elven Race.

After a simple funeral for Krul, Airael returned to her palace, still in a state of shock upon learning of Krul’s wishes.

Just like that, she had inexplicably acquired a large territory and a genuine army of her own.

For a moment, Airael couldn’t express her feelings at all.

She should be happy to receive so much, but thinking of how all of this was a gift from Krul, who sacrificed himself for the Elven Race, she couldn’t feel joy; her heart was heavy.
