Chapter 57: The Final Battle on the Island VI (Revised)

Krul held a longsword with a silver gem embedded in the hilt, radiating magical light that connected to the magic circle beneath his feet.

It turned out this sword wasn’t just for slicing and dicing; it was also Krul’s magical staff!

The nearby human soldiers, including their officers, felt the overwhelming magic emanating from Krul and couldn’t help but gulp.

What awaited them had to be a big move!

And they didn’t have to wait long.

In the next moment, a silvery beam of magic shot forth from Krul, heading straight for a human officer up ahead.

The human officer quickly rolled to the side, narrowly dodging the magic beam attack.

But the human soldiers behind him weren’t as lucky, getting blasted away in a straight line by Krul’s magic beam.

Without delay, Krul fired another magic beam at the human officer.

This time, the human officer didn’t dodge; instead, he gritted his teeth and braced for impact.

He stood his longsword upright before him, hoping to use it as a shield.

At that moment, human mages hurried to cast various protections and shields over him.

Even so, the magic beam’s impact sent the human officer reeling backward.

Finally, he managed to steady himself, but blood erupted from his mouth.

He stood there, swaying like he was about to collapse at any moment.

Seeing his magic attack had done wonders, Krul felt satisfied as he pulled his sword from the ground, ready for close combat again.

He preferred the thrilling rush of fighting up close over casting spells from a distance.

In that kind of battle, his blood raced, fortifying his inner conviction.

He was fighting to protect the Elven Race!

The human soldiers were pushed back yet again.

Their already injured officer suffered the grim fate of having his head severed cleanly by Krul’s sword.

And just like that, a hero-class warrior had met his end.

That marked the first casualty of a tier ten or above in this conflict.

A nameless human officer.

But of course, he wouldn’t be the last.

War is brutal; once you’re in it, sacrifice is a looming possibility.

Even if that possibility is slim, it could still happen.

Meanwhile, Alexander, rushing to the scene, saw the human officer’s death unfold before his very eyes.

His clenched fists tightened even more.

The loss of a tier ten warrior was a heavy blow.

Just as Alexander’s attention was drawn to this, elsewhere on the battlefield, another tier ten warrior met his demise.

Mohas stood expressionless, gazing down at Bask, whom he had just slain.

He then slowly turned his gaze to the giant octopus that was still wreaking havoc.

Bask lay sprawled on the ground, face twisted in disbelief.

He never imagined that just when victory was in sight, Mohas would break through adversity.

He had successfully advanced from tier ten to eleven.

Thanks to his long accumulation of strength, the sudden jump didn’t leave Mohas unstable.

He leveraged his newfound power to brutally finish Bask, taking down Alexander’s trusted general.

The gigantic octopus sensed Mohas’s stare.

Its movements halted, locking eyes with Mohas.

It felt an intense aura of danger from this elf.

This elf was terrifying.

As the octopus paused, the fighting gradually began to quiet down.

It was then that the human soldiers noticed their commander had been killed.

A wave of dread washed over them.

In contrast, the elven soldiers’ morale surged as they cheered Mohas’s name, further dampening the spirits of the human soldiers.

The nearby Sea Tribe soldiers felt some of the effects as well.

They were merely assisting; the main fight was against the humans.

If the humans were faltering, there wasn’t much reason to hold out hope for them.

After steadying himself, Mohas charged into battle against the giant octopus.

The octopus naturally wanted no part of clashing with such a dangerously formidable foe; after a few exchanges, it lost a tentacle to Mohas and fled.

The human and Sea Tribe soldiers quickly followed suit.

Though the victory was theirs, Mohas felt no joy.

He stood there, surveying the elven soldiers pressing forward in pursuit of greater gains.

This battle was a bittersweet victory for him and his men.

Not counting the fallen, those who survived were all wounded.

But both Mohas and Krul knew their victories were merely localized successes.

On the broader battlefield, humanity and the Sea Tribe still held the upper hand, while the Elven Race found themselves at a disadvantage.

Those great human and Sea Tribe heroes were slaughtering elven soldiers just as readily as they were.

Their powers were still too small compared to the scale of the entire battlefield.

Back to the other side, Krul looked at Alexander and company appearing before him, his expression tense.

The newcomers looked formidable.

Especially the two leaders.

Of course, those were Alexander and Suratu.

Their presence gave Krul a sliver of doubt about whether he could attain victory in this battle.

He was confident in facing either one of them separately, but together, with the added strength of their capable allies, his chances of winning seemed slim.

As the Emperor of humanity, Alexander’s guard was no weak bunch.

Their formation was not inferior to Krul’s own elite guard.

And crucially, they had numbers on their side.

If you looked at pure numbers, humanity had always held an advantage over the elves.

Humanity was no longer the little brother of the Elven Race!

They had risen!

Realizing such thoughts were creeping into his mind, Krul quickly shook his head to dispel them.

No matter how small the Elves’ chances of victory were in this battle, he would fight tooth and nail for his people.

Without too much dialogue, as enemies, Krul and Alexander merely exchanged a glance before rushing in to engage in their duel.

Simultaneously, their respective guards clashed together.

Suratu stayed back, directing the mages to cast spells to support the fighters, including Alexander.

The magic released by Suratu, the Grand Mage, was nothing short of spectacular.

Not only did it pack a powerful punch, but the timing of the spells was also impeccable, catching Krul off guard repeatedly.

Thus, in his duel with Alexander, Krul quickly found himself at a disadvantage.

His guard was also overwhelmed by the greater numbers of Alexander’s forces.

The situation had turned dire for Krul.
