Chapter 52: The Final Battle at the Island

Chapter 52: The Final Battle at the Island

Early morning.

The entire sea around the island was blanketed in thick fog.

In the midst of this fog, the Human fleet was slowly advancing.

If the fog were lifted, you would see that the Human fleet was encircling the defensive line formed by the Elven Race around the island.

To suit the needs of a surprise attack, the entire fleet was eerily silent.

Beneath the sea, clusters of Sea Tribe soldiers were also inching closer to the Elven defense line.

The Sea Tribe’s main force consisted mainly of Fishmen, who, like Orcs, had humanoid shapes.

However, their fish-like features were quite pronounced, allowing them to thrive in water.

Their movements were quiet as well.

On the Elven defense line, the Elven Soldiers were grumbling about the fog obstructing their vision, but each stood their ground, straining their eyes to catch any signs of movement on the water’s surface.

Little did they know, in this thick fog, their enemies—the Humans—had found a reliable ally to deal with them.

And that thick fog was working in their favor.

On the coast, Krul stood on a rock, furrowing his brow at the sea hidden beneath the fog.

When a guard reported the sudden rise of thick fog, he instinctively sensed something was off.

But after arriving here, he couldn’t pinpoint exactly what was amiss.

The fog had no magical aura, meaning it wasn’t conjured deliberately by magic.

Moreover, fog on the sea wasn’t an extraordinary phenomenon.

Yet, Krul couldn’t shake the feeling that something was wrong.

After pondering for a while, Krul decided to send Scouts into the fog for a test.

Even though the Human army had been beaten down to low morale by the Elves, in war, you never know who will win or lose until the very end.

This dense fog worried Krul; it might turn out to be a chance for Humans to make a comeback.

Therefore, he had to proceed with utmost caution.

Under Krul’s orders, several Elven boats sailed into the fog.

The Elven Soldiers aboard were fully armed, tasked with reconnaissance.

As the boats slipped into the fog, they soon vanished from Krul and the other Elven leaders’ view.

“Commander, are you overthinking this?”

At that moment, Mohas asked from the side.

“Mohas, it’s better to be cautious than sorry.”

Krul replied, turning to Mohas with a hint of instruction, then continued gazing toward the fog-shrouded sea, “I just have this nagging feeling about the fog, and it’s no trouble to send Scouts for intelligence. A little extra effort is nothing compared to the safety of the entire defense line.”

Mohas nodded in understanding and said no more, waiting alongside Krul and the other Elven commanders for the return of their Scouts.

Below the fog, the Elven Soldiers were aboard swiftly moving boats.

They meticulously scanned their surroundings.

Unfortunately, even as they drew closer, their visibility remained severely limited beneath the fog.

Thus, they failed to notice the massive Human fleet closing in on them.

However, as they drew nearer, the Elven Soldiers began to sense something was off.

One Elven Soldier quietly questioned a fellow comrade, “Do you hear something strange?”

“What strange sound?”

“It sounds like ships moving across the sea.”

The Elven Soldiers immediately perked up and listened intently.

Upon hearing that, the faces of all Elven Soldiers changed.

“Quick! Launch the magic signal flare to alert the Commander!”

The squad leader hurriedly issued the command.

Simultaneously, the Elven Soldiers began turning their boats.

Not far ahead lay the Human fleet.

If they pressed on, even with the fog’s cover, they would undoubtedly be exposed to the Humans’ sights.

At that moment, they were perilously close to the Human warships.

With just their few numbers, there was no way they could fight back.

Just as the Elves were about to launch the magic signal flare, their boat was suddenly overturned by a great force.

Caught off guard, the Elven Soldiers fell into the sea, and the signal flares never got released.

Underwater, countless Sea Tribe soldiers immediately surged forward.

The Elven Soldiers, bewildered by the sudden turn of events, were struck dumb by the scene before them.

However, the Elven Soldiers were not helpless.

Even in the sea, where their capabilities were limited compared to the Sea Tribe soldiers, buying some time was still within reach.

“Quick! Launch the magic signal flare!”

A booming shout rang out, and the Elven Soldier with the flare struggled upwards under the cover of others.

He gripped a tubular object tightly in his right hand.

When he reached the surface, he hurled the object into the air with all his might.

Upon reaching altitude, the tubular object went off with a “bang.”

With a thunderous sound, a yellow magical light pierced through the dense sea fog toward a distance.

“Prepare to confront the enemy!”

Receiving this signal, Krul shouted loudly.

His voice carried far.

Along with the sound of the bugle blown by the messenger beside him.

The Elven Clan promptly entered a state of readiness.

The generals behind him rushed back to their positions.

Even though a vice commander could take charge, having the main commander present was always more effective during battle.

At that moment, the Human fleet and the Sea Tribe soldiers no longer held back; they revved their engines and swiftly sailed toward the Elven defense line.

The Elven Soldiers dispatched as Scouts barely managed to hold off for a short while before being beaten to death by the Sea Tribe soldiers.

In the vast ocean, it was ultimately the realm of those Sea Tribe soldiers.

They could maneuver freely through the sea.

In contrast, the Elven Soldiers were hampered by the water, limiting their movement and ability to effectively wield their strength.

After issuing the order, Krul’s eyes were fixed on the fog ahead.

He knew that the Elven Soldiers sent as Scouts were likely facing doom.

And they were brave; they had sacrificed their lives to alert them, enabling a quicker response.

However, despite the Elves detecting the approaching Human fleet sooner, in the thick fog, they couldn’t ascertain the specific locations of the Human ships.

Without specific targets, the Elves had nowhere to unleash their arrows and magic.

Just then, a giant Magic Circle reappeared in the center of the island.

Then, a mighty wind whipped across the island, sweeping toward the ocean.

The thick sea fog was blown away, revealing the massive Human fleet hidden within.
