Chapter 45: The Continuously Defeated Human Army

Chapter 45: The Continuously Defeated Human Army

Silnas Island.

Another morning dawned, and Airael leisurely enjoyed her breakfast in the dining hall as usual.

Although Silnas Island was quite close to the front lines of war, the conflict had yet to reach this serene place.

Moreover, the island’s defenses were well managed by Sally and the general McColl left behind by Admiral Krul.

Airael, the queen, was essentially a mascot without any real power.

Her contributions were minimal, reduced to eating, sleeping, and practicing.

This lifestyle was not much different from residing in the royal palace, except she had fewer teachers guiding her, with only Hela remaining.

After finishing her breakfast and taking a brief rest, Airael stood up and made her way to the training ground for today’s magic practice.

Though tedious, she understood the significance of honing her skills in magic, which she held great interest in.

Learning magic brought her joy.

Not to mention, she had recently developed an ambitious aspiration.

That was to lead a magic revolution.

This wasn’t merely a whimsical thought.

She was genuinely determined to try.

Even if she might fail, she wanted to give it a shot!

What if she succeeded?

The benefits would be evident.

As an elven queen, she would surely make a name for herself in history, leaving an extraordinary mark for her journey in this world.

Airael practiced as usual until noon, then dragged her weary body to enjoy the prepared lunch.

While she dined, an elven soldier rode in swiftly on a horse, arriving at Airael’s residence.

“Urgent report from the front!”

Bellowed the soldier at the royal palace guards stationed at the gate.

However, the guards responsibly stopped him.

After thorough questioning and checking, they finally allowed him entry.

One of the palace guards led him before Airael.

Airael looked at the messenger and asked, “What urgent news do you bring from the front?”

“Your Majesty, the human army has reached the defense line set by Admiral Krul and has engaged him in combat.”

Upon hearing this, Airael’s expression turned serious as she continued, “What is the current situation at the front?”

“Admiral Krul has repelled several of the human army’s assaults.”

Airael immediately sighed in relief.

“Good! Admiral Krul truly deserves to be hailed as a hero of our elven race.”

After praising Krul, Airael turned her attention back to the messenger, saying, “You’ve worked hard. Hela, please take him to rest.”

“Yes!”

Hela promptly took the elven soldier away.

Once the soldier left, Airael resumed savoring her lunch.

She still had to continue her training in the afternoon; without a full stomach, she wouldn’t have the energy to practice.

At noon, however, over the vast ocean, the human fleet was engulfed in gloom.

In recent days, they had launched several attacks.

Yet, each time, they returned empty-handed.

Especially that world-destroying war magic, which left the human soldiers trembled with fear.

If caught in its wake, the only fate was certain death.

The human emperor Alexander sat on his throne, his face shadowed with worry.

At that moment, he was entirely alone in the room.

His guards and attendants had all been dismissed.

He wanted some time to himself.

Recent defeats had ravaged the human army.

Aside from his own elite guard, the other nineteen legions were no longer fully operational.

The navy was no different.

While the elven race had indeed suffered some losses, compared to humans, theirs seemed insignificant.

The soldier casualties were one thing.

In battle, it’s impossible not to have lives lost.

The critical blow was to morale.

The elven magic displayed was just too overwhelming.

Alexander vividly recalled the scene.

The originally clear blue sky was suddenly engulfed in dark clouds.

Then, from those clouds, several thunderballs emerged, striking down at the charging human fleet. As soon as the thunderballs hit, explosions erupted among the ships.

The blinding light from the explosions made it impossible to open one’s eyes, and when they could, they found companions’ charred bodies floating in the sea.

The warships where the soldiers had been were reduced to mere charred wrecks bobbing on the waters.

Such a sight, Alexander swore he could never forget.

One spell had shattered a human fleet’s charge.

Though the elven race didn’t use such magic for a long time afterward, the fear it instilled was already deeply engraved in everyone’s hearts.

No one wanted to be caught by such magical attacks.

Suddenly, the door swung open.

With the piercing noon sunlight pouring in, the figure stepping inside was Suratu, clad in white robes.

In such times, only Alexander’s mentor, Suratu, had the audacity to show up.

Not even Alexander’s own son, Victor, the proud captain of the twentieth legion, dared to disturb him in such moments.

Suratu walked slowly, leaning on his white staff. He stopped at a respectful distance from Alexander and calmly stated, “Your Majesty, it is time for lunch.”

“Teacher, I have no appetite right now,” Alexander replied wearily, waving his hand.

“Your Majesty, have you forgotten what you said to me before the campaign began?” Suratu inquired.

“Of course I haven’t forgotten,” Alexander answered confidently.

He was a bit puzzled; naturally, he remembered his own words.

Especially ones spoken so emphatically.

“Then, please firmly keep that in mind,” Suratu replied.

At that moment, Alexander grasped his mentor’s implication and awkwardly said, “Teacher, while that may be true, you must see how overwhelmingly powerful elven magic is.”

In that instant, Alexander resembled a petulant little doll.

It wasn’t that he lacked ambition; it was just that those elves were playing on an entirely different level.

How could one fight against such magical might?

Throwing lives into battle? That was not his style.

And certainly a last resort.

Seeing his student turn out this way, Suratu couldn’t help but chuckle.

If anyone else saw this scene, they would surely be astounded.

After all, Alexander had always been projected as the imposing human emperor.

Just a shake of his presence could leave people in awe.

But for Suratu, Alexander was merely his student.

It was perfectly normal for a student to act a bit spoiled towards their teacher.

It was just that seeing such behavior from the mighty Alexander would give outsiders a hard time accepting.

P.S.: I have matters to attend to early tomorrow, thus only one update tonight. I hope everyone understands! The owed update will be made up for later.

By the way, I’d appreciate some support for monthly tickets qwq.
