Chapter 43: The Clash of Warships

Chapter 43: The Clash of Warships

On the destroyed human warship, the Human Soldiers began lowering small wooden boats under the command of their officer, preparing to escape.

Some impatient Human Soldiers even stripped off their armor and jumped into the sea to save themselves.

Mohas ignored all of this.

It all depended on the final outcome.

If they won, then the surviving Human Soldiers would become their captives.

Thus, to secure a victory, he aimed to expand their gains by destroying each of the Human Warships one by one.

As Mohas steered the Magic Warship to turn toward another Human Warship, a Human Warship that had broken free from other Elven Warships came charging toward him.

This warship was the Captain’s Ship of General Bask from the 9th Legion.

After witnessing the power of the Magic Warship, Bask knew he had to take action to block this Elven vessel.

If he allowed it to continue crashing through their forces, there wouldn’t be enough Human Warships to withstand the onslaught.

“Commander, there’s a Human Warship charging toward us!”

While focused ahead, Mohas heard a soldier’s report from beside him.

He looked in the direction the soldier indicated.

Sure enough, a Human Warship was barreling toward them from the side.

If they continued attacking the warship in front, this Human Warship would inevitably ram into theirs.

Even though their Magic Warship was quite sturdy, getting hit hard in the side wouldn’t feel good at all.

Mohas continued assessing the charging Human Warship.

Then he realized this warship wasn’t so simple.

This ship should be the Captain’s Ship of the Human fleet on the offensive, carrying individuals of comparable rank to him.

Without hesitation, Mohas immediately commanded his ship to turn.

They absolutely couldn’t let their side be exposed to a ram.

However, this resulted in a slowdown of the Magic Warship’s speed during the turn.

By the time they tried to accelerate again, there was no extra time left.

The Human Warship was closing in fast.

“Prepare to brace for impact!”

Mohas quickly ordered.

Since they had lost their charging speed, they were left with close combat.

After giving the command, Mohas fixed his gaze on the approaching Human Warship.

On the Human Warship, Bask was also intently watching the Elven Magic Warship.

To be honest, Bask felt a bit embarrassed inside.

He had no clue what abilities this Elven Magic Warship possessed.

But regardless of its capabilities, he had to stand up now; he couldn’t let it rampage any longer.

The two similarly-sized warships finally collided.

“Boom!”

Then came the sound of creaking wood, as soldiers stumbled and toppled over.

Since the Magic Warship’s speed had not picked up, it lacked momentum, causing it to be pushed back repeatedly by the Human Warship, leaving its soldiers in quite a predicament.

The Human Warship launched a counterattack.

Yet the resilience of the Magic Warship was enough to prevent the Human Warship from making significant gains against it.

In the end, the two warships came to a standstill, entangled by ropes, unable to escape each other’s grasp.

Next, a brutal melee erupted on the two ships.

Having the upper hand from the collision, the Human side was the first to strike.

“Kill!”

Bask shouted, leading the charge with his two-handed longsword, leaping onto the Elven Warship’s deck.

His fellow Human Soldiers hastily followed suit.

Meanwhile, the Mages, led by Davis, cast spells to provide various Magic Shields for protection.

“Maintain formation, block them!”

Mohas shouted loudly.

The Elven Soldiers, recovering from the impact, quickly formed a shield wall to counter the Human assault.

As Bask jumped onto the Elven Warship, he faced a barrier of Elven spears, swinging his longsword fiercely at the front.

“Clang clang clang!…”

The sounds of metal clashing echoed as the Elven Soldiers’ spears were deflected.

Then, Bask charged violently at an Elven Soldier, using his bulk to slam into him.

“Boom!”

A powerful impact sent the Elven Soldier flying, along with his companions.

Bask’s heroic display was quite eye-catching.

Under his leadership, the Human Soldiers quickly established a foothold on the Elven Warship.

Mohas watched as Bask showcased his valor on the Elven Warship and charged forward with his sword and shield.

In that moment, Bask appeared to expand his success further.

The Elven Soldiers, being mere mid-tier warriors, were no match for him.

Even with the support of Elven Mages, the power disparity was evident.

As the General of the 9th Legion, Bask was a Heroic-tier Warrior.

No capable Elven Warrior could withstand him for long.

Mohas’s arrival successfully stalled the advance of the Humans.

Bask was a 10th-tier Heroic Warrior, and so was he.

Mohas used his shield to block Bask’s slash aimed at an Elven Soldier.

At the same time, he thrust his longsword toward Bask’s abdomen.

Faced with a crisis, Bask retreated rapidly.

Mohas seized the opportunity to assault.

With smooth, flowing strikes, he unleashed a series of attacks on Bask using his sword and shield.

His relentless barrage seemed like it would never cease.

Bask, having lost the initiative, was forced to retreat repeatedly, dragging the Human Soldiers with him.

Under Mohas’s command, the Elven Soldiers seized the chance to reclaim significant ground.

The Human Soldiers found themselves pressed against the bow of the ship, all huddled together.

Noticing this, Bask fixed his eyes firmly on Mohas.

As Mohas attacked him once more with his shield, Bask bellowed, “Heavy Strike!”

Gathering all his strength, he swung his two-handed longsword forcefully to clash against Mohas’s incoming shield.

The shield’s attack was rather cumbersome.

Although Mohas sensed something was off, he had no chance to dodge.

“Boom—!”

A tremendous force jolted through Mohas’s entire body.

Naturally, Bask wasn’t feeling great either.

But he was mentally ready for it.

Thus, he quickly recovered from the shock and began his counterattack.

His two-handed longsword crashed down on Mohas with powerful strikes.

Each swing carried immense force.

Though Mohas was also strong, the difference in their weapon types limited their effectiveness.

With Mohas wielding a sword and shield and Bask holding a two-handed longsword, the latter obviously had an advantage for unleashing his power.

Against Bask’s counter-offensive, Mohas had no choice but to defend desperately.

The ground he had just reclaimed was once again lost to the Human Soldiers.
