Chapter 37: Dragon-Slaying Warrior Sally
Although Airael’s statement was still very direct, Sally had gotten used to it after the earlier experience.
In her eyes, their Your Majesty was still just a little child.
Perhaps it was that childlike honesty and straightforwardness at play.
“Sure!”
Without much thought, Sally nodded in agreement.
To her, Airael had already become a harmless little kid.
Even though she was a noble queen, such a cute elven loli made it hard for her to associate her with the title of queen, making it difficult for her to refuse.
“Great! Let’s find a quieter place to chat!”
Airael said happily, appearing very innocent and pure.
Sally smiled back at Airael, and together they started looking for a secluded spot.
After a scan around, they realized there were no secluded places in the hall at all.
Plus, being the main characters of the banquet, wherever one of them was, they’d certainly be eye-catching, not to mention that they were both together.
Even the most hidden corners would become lively due to the presence of the two.
Airael’s face suddenly showed a hint of distress.
“Your Majesty, please follow me. I’ll take you to a place.”
At that moment, Sally spoke up.
Airael looked at Sally in confusion.
Sally smiled at Airael and began to lead the way.
Curiously, Airael quietly followed behind.
Healers and other elves closely trailed after her.
Following Sally, they exited the banquet hall through the back door and arrived in a quiet little garden.
Viewing the tranquil garden, Airael was quite satisfied and asked Sally, “Sally, how did you know about this place? Have you been here before?”
Sally shook her head. “Your Majesty, I just happened to notice a small door before, so I kept it in mind.”
“Oh!”
Airael nodded in understanding, quickly moving on from her casual question.
Then they got to the point.
Sally looked at Airael and asked, “What would Your Majesty like to know from me?”
Airael frowned tightly, showing a troubled expression.
Sally patiently waited, noting that their Your Majesty was truly very cute without an ounce of royal authority.
After a while, Airael finally spoke up, “I want to know many things, but first, can you briefly tell me about your growth history? Since you reached the Ninth-level, you must have some pretty rich experiences, right?”
As she spoke, she looked at Sally with eager eyes.
She looked just like a kid eagerly waiting for an adult to tell a story.
“My experiences?”
Sally’s expression turned reminiscent.
Being nearly a thousand years old, she indeed had a wealth of experiences, but many events had been forgotten over such a long span of time.
Seeing Sally take too long to respond, Airael thought for a moment and decided to make it easier for her, asking a question she was curious about and that would also be useful for her future: “Could you tell me how you advanced to the Ninth-level? I bet that experience is still fresh in your memory?”
Sally nodded.
This was definitely a clear memory for her.
“My promotion happened during a tough battle. My companions and I faced a very powerful opponent. At that moment, to protect my companions, I advanced in a desperate situation.”
Airael’s mouth fell open in surprise.
That’s it? That sounds a bit too simple!
Sally looked at Airael in confusion.
She had finished speaking, so why did it seem like Your Majesty was not satisfied?
After thinking for a moment, Airael reminded her, “Sally, can you elaborate on the specifics of that situation? Like, who was your opponent?”
By now, it was clear to Airael that Sally wasn’t much of a storyteller.
Realizing this, Sally promptly stated, “We were undertaking a commissioned task and needed to enter the Western Mountains. In the mountains, we encountered a Dragon Beast. Although it was only a Ninth-level high-level magical beast, its strength could not be easily overlooked, even by those at the Tenth-level and above. As a result, my companions and I struggled greatly during the battle. By the end, we were all injured.”
Airael nodded, her eyes wide with surprise as she looked at Sally and exclaimed, “So, you can be considered a dragon-slaying warrior!”
She knew the power of Dragon Beasts.
Dragons existed in this world too, and each was incredibly strong, usually above the Tenth-level once they reached adulthood.
It’s only natural that dragons have very low fertility.
However, while dragons can struggle to reproduce among themselves, they have a much easier time when hybridizing with other races.
Especially with those races that are comparatively weaker.
The Dragon Beasts are a new race born from the union of dragons and other races.
Due to the different bloodlines, the appearance traits of Dragon Beasts can also vary.
For example, some Dragon Beasts have wings and can soar freely through the skies like dragons, while others can only stay on the ground, unable to fly.
Despite that, every Dragon Beast should not be underestimated.
After all, they all have a part of dragon blood flowing through them.
The enhancements brought by that bloodline are not something to scoff at.
They are undoubtedly much stronger than average magical beasts.
And for Sally to advance to the Ninth-level during that fierce battle, defeating that Ninth-level Dragon Beast would surely have been no easy feat.
After that, Airael didn’t pursue the topic any further.
It wasn’t only because Sally wasn’t cut out for storytelling, but also because time was precious, and she wanted to ask other questions.
Even though her exterior was that of a naive, cute, and uncomplicated elven loli, her heart was not so simple.
She still had some ulterior motives in mind.
Her approach to getting close to Sally proved just that.
She shamelessly utilized her seemingly innocent appearance.
Moreover, the most important thing was that she had already learned how Sally had advanced to the Tenth-level.
At that time, the strong belief she held in wanting to protect her companions drove Sally’s breakthrough.
This left Airael very impressed with Sally in her heart.
Although recounting such things may seem easy, few could actually achieve it.
Faced with a formidable foe, it’s impressive for anyone to remain unfazed.
Just like her in the past, a phantom assassin could make her tremble with fear.
Thus, in this world filled with magical powers, inner conviction can indeed turn into tangible strength.
Thinking of this, Airael had an epiphany.
