Chapter 104: Going to Catch a Dragon for My Daughter to Play With
“I can’t believe a dragon really showed up around here.”
Although Drevon had not personally seen the dragon, he had discovered traces that might be left by it, solidifying the likelihood.
Seeing Airael’s fascinated expression, Celia spoke up, “Your Majesty, what do you plan to do next?”
“Since this dragon has appeared within Elven territory, it should logically be dealt with by the Elven Race.”
Celia voiced her concern, “In that case, you’ll be clashing with Mr. Axi.”
“I believe he’s already prepared for this mentally,” Airael replied.
Celia fell silent, realizing that if the two directly involved were unconcerned, she should refrain from meddling too much.
Then, Airael activated Drevon’s magical communication.
“Your Majesty!”
In the mountains, Drevon was searching for the dragon while communicating with Airael.
“Drevon, continue searching for the dragon. Notify me immediately upon spotting it, and I will hurry over with my people.”
Upon hearing that Airael would come in person, Drevon seemed momentarily stunned before responding, “Yes, ma’am!”
After the communication ended, Drevon pressed on with his search. The thought of Airael coming soon added a lot of pressure on him.
He had to find the dragon’s location as quickly as possible.
At this moment, Drevon wasn’t the only one searching in the mountains. Many people were out trying to locate the dragon.
Some were doing it for personal reasons, while others were acting on behalf of their factions.
Regardless of the reason, whoever found the dragon first would gain an advantage when it came to handling it later.
In the Royal Palace office.
After finishing the communication, Airael said to Celia, “Celia, go fetch Sally.”
“Understood!”
After Celia left, Airael returned to her paperwork.
Around noon, Celia entered the office with Sally clad in armor.
“Your Majesty!”
Sally bowed deeply upon entering.
“Sally, you must have heard about the dragon sighting in the mountains.”
“I’ve heard.”
Sally nodded; the news had spread like wildfire in the royal city recently.
“Upon receiving the news, I sent someone to verify its authenticity, and it’s been gradually confirmed that a dragon does indeed roam in the mountains.”
Sally’s eyes widened in shock.
So, it was true.
Airael continued, “The reason I called you here is that I want you to accompany me on a trip soon.”
“Your Majesty, you plan to go to the mountains in person?”
“Yes!”
Airael nodded, explaining, “A mighty dragon suddenly appearing in Elven territory — as the Queen, how can I turn a blind eye to it?”
“I understand. When do we depart, Your Majesty?”
“Tomorrow. We don’t need too many people; just you, me, and Celia will be enough.”
“Your Majesty, that might not be wise,” Celia interjected.
Sally, although unable to voice her concerns, shared the same apprehension.
Both she and Celia hoped Airael would reconsider.
The mountains were already a sparsely populated area, making them inherently unsafe.
Now, with a powerful dragon lurking, the danger levels had increased significantly.
“Celia, you know my strength; plus, the two of you. If we can’t manage, it won’t matter how many people we bring along.”
Just as they were about to say more, Airael interrupted, “And I don’t want to draw too much attention before we encounter it, as that would only increase the risk.”
This statement effectively silenced them both.
They exchanged glances, wishing to voice their thoughts, but seeing Airael’s firm attitude, they ultimately held their tongues.
After finalizing their plans, Airael turned to Sally, saying, “Make arrangements when you return today and prepare well. We’ll meet at the west gate at nine tomorrow morning.”
“Yes!”
Time passed, and after lunch, while feeding Anna, Airael said to Hela, who stood nearby, “I’ll be away from the palace for a while.”
“I will take good care of Princess Anna, Your Majesty.”
Hela understood Airael’s intentions.
This was not the first time.
For Airael, Anna was the most important thing in the palace.
“Mm!”
Airael nodded, saying nothing more.
She looked down at Anna, who was still nursing.
Anna’s big blue eyes rolled to look at Airael.
Airael smiled and said, “Anna, mommy will be gone for a few days. But don’t worry! I’ll catch a dragon for you to play with when I return, okay?”
Anna blinked her large eyes, not fully grasping Airael’s words.
The nearby Hela and maids understood but were at a loss for words.
Your Majesty, while you have the power to catch a dragon, are you sure you want a dragon to play with Princess Anna?
They couldn’t even fathom that scenario.
And letting Princess Anna play with a dragon? That was just too dangerous.
Airael paid no mind to their thoughts and began talking to Anna about dragons.
Anna, though she didn’t understand, listened with great attentiveness.
But before long, sleepiness overtook her, and she dozed off.
Noticing this, Airael stopped talking.
Then, she picked Anna up and headed towards the bedroom.
……
The next morning.
Airael and Celia each donned a cloak as they arrived outside the west gate of the royal city.
When they arrived, they found Sally already waiting for them.
Though she wore a cloak too, Sally didn’t put on the hood.
Thus, she appeared quite conspicuous.
The two approached Sally and removed their hoods.
“Your…”
Seeing Airael, Sally instinctively started to call out.
Yet, before she could finish, Airael silenced her with a glance.
Sally quickly remembered that this mission required subtlety.
Thinking for a moment, she addressed Airael, “Miss!”
Satisfied, Airael nodded and asked, “Have you arranged everything?”
“All is arranged.”
“Good! Then let’s set out.”
“Yes!”
The three donned their hoods and headed towards the mountains in the west.
