Chapter 1

Let’s describe myself up until just now.

Yeah, just a moment ago, I had reached the final stage of the ‘Main Quest.’

Now, it’s the classic war of ‘Celestial Race vs. Demon Race’ that’s a staple in any MMORPG.

The Celestials and Demons are incredibly strong.

This isn’t just about being strong; they’re born strong!

Even a one-year-old Angel can squash a seasoned Orc like it’s no big deal.

Everything touched by an Angel gets purified, and undead beings can’t even get close!

And what about Demons?

From birth, they’re proficient in magic and can unleash spells on par with high-ranking wizards, even the lowliest of them!

The Demon leader possessed powers that could halt an entire continent.

So you see, the Celestial Race and Demon Race are so strong that no other races dare to challenge them.

Because of this, it’s not an exaggeration to say that the fate of the continent lies in the hands of the Celestials and Demons.

So, what about me?

“What am I, anyway?”

Just an extra, maybe around 297.

One of those humans where the bloodline is so diluted that it might as well dissolve if boiled, a descendant of a distant ancestor of the Celestials and Humans.

An ordinary village girl.

Not a poor village, but certainly nothing special about it.

That’s where I found myself reincarnated.

The only silver lining is that, with even 0.1% of Celestial blood, I’m treated like some sort of ‘Saintess.’

Though that bubble burst rather quickly after seeing the real Saintess.

Anyway, the first thing I encountered in that world wasn’t the girl whose body I had taken over, nor her mother, nor the village chief, but the system window.

[You can return to Earth by clearing the Main Quest!]

…with that crummy message.

I mean, shouldn’t you at least offer something for completing the quest?

The final stage of the Main Quest is about ending a war.

So, throw the humans at the Celestials and expect me to resolve the monster rampaging war?

“Resolve the war where monsters are rampaging behind?”

In the first two years when I was clueless about the game, I gained some confidence by following the quests, but after seeing a ‘real’ celestial being, I gave up on that hope.

Ah! This wasn’t made to be broken.

How am I supposed to win against guys who can turn a gigantic ogre into dough with just a gesture?

So, I changed my mind.

Why not give up on returning and live as the village saintess casually?

I hardly had any family to speak of, and no special connections outside either.

That’s also why I could progress quickly in those early two years.

“Hmph.”

Now, ten years later.

Living as the small saintess of the village, I longed for reality in my continued life.

Not for the remaining people or my connections there.

But for the basic modern things like food, culture, and games that I can’t enjoy now.

At the same time, I reminded myself that this place is a game.

If it’s a game, there might be some special items or skills.

With that thought, I made good use of the system.

Although I was the only one with my own standards, and I didn’t know this game well either, well, if I just spent some time, there was nothing I couldn’t do, right?

I began to seek out game-related abilities.

I faced life-threatening situations multiple times and was ambushed countless times, but as long as I vaguely resembled a celestial being, I managed to get through somewhat easily.

Unlike demons, celestials cherish their kin.

If someone harms a celestial and it reaches the ears of a higher celestial, it’s safe to say that their entire clan or territory would be annihilated.

Of course, I, a human with celestial blood, wouldn’t be included, but even an ordinary person wouldn’t feel a banana-flavored milk like a banana.

It’s just like that.

After awakening various abilities and wandering the world for 20 years.

I became pretty strong.

Even if I’m still a celestial-blooded human compared to the real ones, I was no longer someone who’d get beaten up anywhere.

No matter how faint the celestial blood is, the power itself isn’t weak at all.

And then came the 30th year.

Having crossed through numerous battlefields.

While celestial and demon races remain strong, I did my best as a celestial-blooded human.

After enduring the test of time, I finally cleared the last of the main quest.

That’s right. I did it.

“I’m resolving this.”

The final part of the main quest was the end of the war.

Even if I didn’t do anything, the war ended naturally, so it got cleared anyway.

[Congratulations!]

Even the system seemed to be flustered.

I didn’t see this coming.

[Then, we will return you to Earth.]

[Ah! To reach a harmonious agreement with that world, I sealed most of Lady Lily’s powers. Don’t find it strange if they don’t come out too much.]

And so, I returned.

My body was exactly the same.

“Is this real?”

Having finished my flashback, I looked around.

A dark, cramped single room.

In this familiar yet awkward space, I instinctively tried to use the skill ‘Light’ but halted.

Tick-tick. No light.

It flickered, barely on, then ran out of magical power.

My magic reservoir turned into a water cup from the Mediterranean Sea.

Of course, it didn’t have as much magical power as the Mediterranean Sea.

“Why is my body still the same?”

I filled the sink with water in the narrow bathroom and glanced at the mirror for a moment.

A pretty girl with blue hair and cat-like eyes looked back, frowning at me.

If my past self saw me, I would have fallen for my looks at first glance.

Even my body was so well-endowed that it was obvious in any outfit, with a bust that stood out and thighs that spoke for themselves.

It’s like the god thought, “They’d like being possessed by such a pretty girl, right?” while creating this body.

But it’s nice to look at.

Just not to be.

Because of this body, I’ve been in danger more than once.

If I didn’t have the status of a Saintess with the blood of the Celestial Race from a small village, terrible things would have happened long ago.

In fact, after quitting being a Saintess and wandering the world for twenty years, I frequently encountered those who wanted to do such terrible things.

It wasn’t just frequent. I ran into them almost every three days.

Of course, I defeated them all, so nothing terrible happened.

The Celestial and Demon Races showed no interest in such “defective products.”

“System.”

Silence.

Complete silence.

Normally, it would have answered like a puppy as soon as I called, but now, there wasn’t a response at all.

Since I’ve returned, is it saying goodbye now?

I felt a mix of bittersweetness and inevitability.

It was a pity, but if it were still around, it would feel like things weren’t completely over.

The reflection of Lily Elbrite in the mirror beamed at me.

So, I guess being back is a joy after all.

After washing up a bit, I stepped out to find the still dark single room welcoming me back.

Click.

When I flipped the switch, the light turned on, revealing the roughly 7-pyeong room before my eyes.

A small navy bed and a shabby wardrobe with only a few clothes inside.

On the wall by the half-open window were a table, a monitor, and a rectangular envelope I had never seen before.

There was a single envelope placed on the desk.

A red envelope.

I casually sat on the chair in front of the monitor.

Looking at the computer made me reminisce about the old days.

The me who used to enjoy gaming.

And the me whose life flipped 180 degrees because of that game.

I fell into thought for a moment. Feeling a bit melancholic for no reason, I quickly grabbed the envelope.

Inside the envelope were a new resident registration card, a bankbook, and a card.

Lily Elbrite. Age: 21.

“Not 21 though.”

Since I have a tiny bit of Celestial blood, I haven’t aged at all after my 20s.

I guess it means I should just live as a 21-year-old.

The yellow bankbook had 20 million won in it.

Only 2 thousand?

After all that hell I went through, 2 thousand is just not enough.

I wasn’t expecting a dramatic number, but at least give me enough to live on for my lifetime…

“If that’s the case, I should have just stayed a Saintess.”

If I had known the Celestials and Demons would make peace, I wouldn’t have spent 20 years wandering the world suffering for no reason.

Of course, regretting it now is pointless.

Grrrr…

I’m hungry.

As a former Celestial-human, I never felt hunger.

I was fine after three months without eating and didn’t feel thirsty even after a month without water, yet here I am, feeling hungry after just half a day.

I stood up and rummaged through the house.

I searched through the pantry, a small space that couldn’t even be distinguished as a kitchen or a room, and even checked the little fridge, but there was nothing edible.

Couldn’t the God put some food in here? Seriously stingy.

“Convenience store. Convenience store.”

For some reason, I feel like I have to go to the convenience store.

That’s just the feeling I have.

I opened a slightly familiar, yet mostly strange iron door.

Squeak… The sound made the night air tickle my skin.

As I opened the door, the modern city outside my small one-room villa came into view.

Neon signs and the lights from buildings filled my vision, along with the people living in it.

A scene so different from the places I’ve lived.

With the night air, I slowly stepped out toward the night streets.
