Chapter 75: Discussing Matters
After doing all this, Arthur quietly returned to sit next to Airael.
Then, he naturally wrapped his arms around Airael and pulled her close.
With this act, a hint of satisfaction appeared on his face.
After hugging his daughter for a while, Arthur realized he might be getting a bit addicted to this feeling.
Airael comfortably leaned against Arthur’s chest.
For her, it was just a change in “pillows.”
Though this “pillow” was a bit hard, it felt very reliable.
“Ailia, what do you want to say to me?”
Arthur looked down at Airael and asked.
“Aren’t you here for the final selection competition of the Elven Race?”
Airael countered with a question.
“Yes!”
Arthur nodded.
He tightened his embrace around Airael.
There was no way he would let this competition’s champion slip away.
“In fact, this final selection competition is just something I set up to buy time.”
Arthur was surprised.
But he quickly picked up on the key point: “Buying time?”
Airael shook her head and said, “It’s complicated and involves a lot, so I can’t explain it in detail. I just want to tell you that you don’t have to feel too pressured about this competition. Even if you don’t win, it won’t matter, and winning is only a qualification!”
“Even if it’s just a qualification, I won’t give it to others.”
Arthur said very seriously.
Airael smiled and replied, “In that case, you should work hard! The people coming to compete are all the young elites from various countries.”
She was very happy.
It was clear that Arthur was doing this for her.
“If I win, will you still proceed with the original plan?”
Suddenly, Arthur asked.
Although Airael hadn’t said it out loud before, Arthur instinctively sensed something was off.
After this incident, Airael would definitely take action, and it wouldn’t be minor.
“Let’s wait until you win the competition to discuss that,” Airael sighed.
Arthur felt a bit disappointed.
Yet immediately, he transformed that feeling into motivation.
He was determined to win the upcoming competition.
“Next, shall we discuss another matter?”
Airael continued.
Arthur looked at Airael with confusion.
What else could there be?
“I’m sorry about Anna. I’ll try to arrange more time for you two to spend together.”
As she spoke, guilt showed on Airael’s face.
Hearing this, Arthur was taken aback.
Then he smiled at Airael and said, “You don’t have to force yourself to do that! I still need to focus on the competition, and I won’t have much time to spend with Anna. Just let me see her when I want to.”
“Alright!”
Airael nodded gently.
Then the two of them enjoyed a moment of quiet affection.
Since their daughter was sleeping nearby, they couldn’t engage in any intense activities.
But sometimes, tranquility is a form of happiness too.
At that moment, Arthur and Airael felt just fine.
Though there wasn’t much physical passion, their hearts were satisfied.
However, joyful moments are fleeting.
Time quickly passed, and soon it was time for them to part ways again.
Although she hadn’t shown much respect upon arrival, Anna now seemed reluctant to leave.
After getting familiar, Anna found Arthur to be a wonderful dad.
So, she clung to Arthur and wouldn’t let go.
For this, Airael had to spend quite some effort to coax her.
After calming their daughter down, Airael said goodbye to Arthur, picked up the re-disguised daughter, and left Arthur’s room, taking Celia and Aurora with her as they exited the inn.
Though she wanted to stay a bit longer—not only for her own sake but also for Anna to spend more time with her dad—time didn’t allow it.
She needed to take Anna home.
Right now, their situation couldn’t be exposed.
On the way back, Airael advised Anna, “Anna, although Mommy took you to see Daddy today, don’t talk about Daddy in front of other elves, okay?”
Anna didn’t understand much, but she had no problem listening to Airael.
The little one replied, “Okay!”
After finishing her daughter’s homework, Airael breathed a sigh of relief.
The biggest uncertainty throughout the whole process stemmed from her daughter.
Although children often speak without filters, once Anna uttered “Daddy,” it would surely attract attention.
Recently, Airael had already been quite in the limelight over the competition, so she didn’t want anything else to draw eyes to her, especially anything concerning Anna’s father.
That was definitely a taboo topic.
Currently, among the Elven Race, the story surrounding Anna’s birth is that she is a child of divine blessing.
She is said to have been born under the will of Queen Airael, embodying divine intent.
Thus, Anna only has her mother and no true father in the traditional sense.
In the inn room.
After Airael and Anna left, Arthur felt empty inside.
This feeling was even stronger than yesterday.
Yesterday, it was just Airael leaving.
Adding Celia and Aurora was nothing.
Today, there was another person.
His daughter, whom he hadn’t seen in many years, had to part with him after just a brief moment.
Moreover, he had previously rejected Airael’s goodwill, which kept him from frequently seeing his daughter.
“Master!”
After Airael and the others left, Karina came into Arthur’s room, just like yesterday.
Unlike yesterday, Arthur sat on the sofa looking very dejected.
He was lost in thoughts about what had just happened.
In fact, everything was easily explainable.
At the heart of it all was the issue of strength.
Because of his lack of power, he faced many restrictions in his actions.
He blamed it all on himself.
After all, he is a man.
To him, a man should stand tall and protect his family well.
“Master!”
Karina called out.
“You’re here, Karina.”
Arthur instantly straightened up and greeted.
“Master, are you thirsty? Would you like something to drink?”
Karina asked.
“Whatever is fine.”
Arthur replied.
After that, Arthur’s demeanor relaxed considerably.
He realized that his earlier behavior was a bit abnormal.
As for the situation with Ailia, it wasn’t time to unveil that layer of mystery yet.
So, when Karina was about to leave, Arthur spoke up, “Karina, don’t think too much. Just focus on doing your job well.”
“Understood!”
Karina answered, then turned and left.
Yet she remained very curious in her heart.
What exactly had happened?
The mysterious person had visited their master two days in a row, and the second time brought a little one along.
Perhaps this was why, after they left, their master had displayed such a stark change in demeanor.
