Chapter 72: Attacked Humans
The next morning, Airael woke up and, as usual, took care of Anna, then washed up, got dressed, and had breakfast.
After finishing breakfast, Airael said to Hela, who was nearby, “I plan to take Anna out to play this afternoon in casual attire.”
“Your Majesty, it’s quite chaotic outside these days,” Hela replied with immediate concern.
She was mainly worried about Anna.
As for Airael, in Avalon, there was probably no creature in the world that could defeat her.
“How chaotic can it get? Those guys can’t stir up any storms. Besides, I won’t let Anna out of my sight,” Airael added, knowing what Hela was truly worried about.
“If Your Majesty really plans to take Princess Anna out to play, I think it might be better to have some shadow guards nearby,” Hela conceded.
“Just let Celia and Aurora follow us; bringing too many guards would take away the fun,” Airael also made an appropriate concession.
“Understood!” Hela agreed.
Although Celia and Aurora were just two people, they were quite powerful, and with Airael, the three of them could easily protect a little child.
Most importantly, having someone around could prevent any situations where Airael might find herself without help in an emergency.
Airael’s gaze shifted to Anna, who was still nursing in her arms. She looked into the little girl’s big eyes and said, “Anna, you need to be good this morning; Mommy will take you out to play this afternoon.”
Anna’s eyes curved into a smile, looking very happy.
Airael smiled back.
Once the little girl was done eating, Airael handed her over to Hela.
Then, she took Celia and Aurora to her office to handle the day’s work.
In the office, Airael looked at a document in her hand, her brow furrowed tightly.
This was an urgent report submitted by the city security officer.
It stated that last night, elves had attacked some human participants.
Originally, this could have been resolved as a brawl, but since it involved humans, the security officer found it hard to manage.
He had to temporarily detain the troublemaking elves and wait for Airael to give a resolution.
These guys really caused a ruckus.
After reading, Airael couldn’t help but smile bitterly.
What could she do?
Although these elves were in trouble, their intentions were not inherently bad.
They didn’t want their elven queen being insulted by humans.
They just didn’t realize that their elven queen had already been “insulted” by the humans.
This was also why Airael couldn’t just step in aggressively; she could only take a soothing approach.
Otherwise, it would be disheartening.
Fortunately, even though these guys caused trouble, nothing major came of it.
The so-called attack was merely an attempt to teach those humans a lesson, but it backfired.
The ones who acted out were mostly impulsive young elves, who generally lacked strength.
And the humans who had come to the elven world were all elite among their kind.
This meant that instead of teaching someone a lesson, they ended up being the ones schooled.
This was one of the reasons for Airael’s bitter smile.
What an embarrassment!
Not only did they lack the capability, but they also chose to stir up trouble.
Airael shook her head and sighed, starting to respond to the document.
This was manageable.
Speak human language when addressing humans, and elven language when speaking to elves.
She decided to have the security captain express apologies to the humans in her name.
The incident itself was minor, and after doing this, she believed the humans would not pursue the matter further, especially since among them was Arthur, a potential traitor.
She was confident Arthur wouldn’t pursue it either; with someone leading the way, the others wouldn’t press on, for that would make them look petty.
As for the troublesome elves, a soothing approach would be taken.
Airael would let them know that she understood their intentions, but that she had her own decisions in mind. She hoped everyone could settle down, be law-abiding good elves, improve their own qualities, and not let humans look down on elves.
As for strength, that was something that couldn’t be improved in the short term.
After reviewing everything, Airael promptly sent her response to the security officer and instructed him to handle the situation.
Once that was sorted, the other matters Airael had to deal with were mostly routine affairs.
Airael, already experienced, handled them easily.
However, due to the large volume of work, finishing everything was not so simple.
To avoid delaying state affairs and her afternoon plans, Airael put all her effort into tackling the responsibilities.
Meanwhile, on the other side, after receiving Airael’s response, the city security officer began to address the incident.
He assigned his deputy to guide the troublemaking elves while he himself represented the queen to express apologies to the humans who had been attacked.
Things went smoothly on the human side.
Even without Arthur as a traitor, the humans graciously indicated they wouldn’t hold grudges.
The situation among the troublesome elves also progressed smoothly.
Their attempt to teach humans a lesson ended up backfiring on them.
This made them feel quite ashamed.
Airael’s understanding of their actions made them realize the significance of their conduct, and they expressed that they would behave as good elves moving forward and not embarrass themselves in front of humans again.
And thus, the matter was settled.
Upon learning of this outcome, Airael was not surprised; she calmly continued to handle other affairs.
At this moment, it was already close to noon.
She needed to finish the remaining tasks before lunchtime.
Meanwhile, Arthur welcomed his second wave of guests since moving into the inn.
Prince Crown of Nick Kingdom had come to visit him.
He and Crown were, after all, old acquaintances.
They had even fought on the battlefield together.
However, today, Crown did not seem to come with good intentions.
“Prince Crown, welcome!” Arthur greeted him warmly in the new inn room.
“Axi, there’s something I’ve been thinking about for a long time and I really need to talk to you about it,” Crown said coldly, looking at Arthur.
“What is it?” Arthur asked, his expression growing serious.
“It’s about you. Maybe I’m meddling too much, but don’t you think what you’re doing now is unfair to Miss Ailia?”
Arthur paused.
He understood what Crown meant.
But there was no way he could explain this to Crown properly.
So, he fell back on his previous excuse, saying, “Prince Crown, I must say, you are overstepping your boundaries a bit. Furthermore, what’s going on between Ailia and me is not what you imagine.”
Yet if one knew more details, that would sound like something else entirely.
“What exactly is it?” Crown pressed.
He was convinced that Arthur and Ailia were indeed in that kind of relationship.
