Chapter Two Hundred and Five: The Moonshadow Family Reunites
Wuki felt awkward for her own reasons as well. The relationship between the Dark Pretty Cure and Lily was not just that of rivals. There was an unhappy memory concerning an incident during Wuki’s first transformation and an unnamed person, which could be described as a “jealous dispute.”
It seemed that sensing the growing tension, panic struck the surrounding guests, who left with grimaces. This unintentionally provided ample space for their “conversation.”
Before the Dark Pretty Cure could escalate things further, Tsukikage Lily had solemnly moved in front of Wuki, positioning herself between her and the Dark Pretty Cure.
“Why are you here?”
“Why can’t I come back?” As she spoke, her gaze drifted to the Christmas cake nearby. After some introspection, she refocused on Lily, no longer an enemy.
“My legs are mine; I should be free to go where I wish, right?”
“Or do you think you can boss me around because you beat me once? Technically, that time ended in a stalemate.”
The key to my defeat, I still don’t agree with that.
“If you want to come looking again…” With a cold expression, Tsukikage Lily raised her head, and her visor reflected the sunset, hiding her eyes beneath it. “I’m ready to face you anytime.”
“Rrr, wouldn’t Ash be heartbroken if his saved life were wasted like this?”
“Don’t mention him! It has nothing to do with him!”
And Kuron’s situation! Don’t think ignoring it means I’ve forgiven or forgotten!
“Yes? Then it shows he trusts me more.”
“Thinking so makes you blind. It’s the opposite.”
In the days before snowfall, the Dark Pretty Cure continued to provoke, while Tsukikage Lily clenched her fists tighter. Meanwhile, Wuki was nearly at her breaking point.
“Alright, alright!” Seeing the tense atmosphere, Wuki intervened with a smile before things escalated too far. She waved her hands trying to defuse their anger.
“It’s Christmas today; can’t you two resolve your differences? For Santa, and for Ash—why not hold off on quarreling here?”
“Hmph!” Both turned their heads simultaneously, expressing dissatisfaction.
Despite their mutual understanding, Wuki felt a sense of embarrassment.
“Not bad sisters, you two get along so well…”
“Where do we get along?” they replied in unison, making Wuki’s smile even more awkward.
Finally, the playful fight ceased, and the Dark Pretty Cure explained her visit—to see her father. If he was safe and content, she could relax…
“You won’t meet him?” Lily responded, surprised and curious.
“For a man like Dr. Shabak, knowing the truth…I might be a disturbance.”
Seeing their shocked expressions, she laughed. “Isn’t it surprising? Not just to you, but even I have grown.”
That day, dying would’ve been fine. But Ash insisted on saving me. It wasn’t unnecessary though, after dying, I gained precious freedom but lost countless beliefs.
The past me wouldn’t say this, but change comes. Just like the one before me now.
After pondering, she revealed a secret.
“Ash didn’t make it.”
“I know,” the Dark Pretty Cure nodded. When he didn’t appear, she had guessed. Lily confirmed it.
“I’ll find him myself.”
Unlike with you, I might know where he is…
“Dark!” A man’s voice behind her broke her concentration.
“Dad!”
Facing both daughters, she saw one she had initially abandoned but then reconnected with, and another she abandoned, feeling lost.
As Shabak, having feelings toward Dark Pretty Cure was inevitable, but Doon’s mind-control mask suppressed them. Now, she gaped in silence.
“Dr. Shabak…” Dark Pretty Cure spoke first. “I can live alone. I won’t trouble you much anymore…”
“Dark—” Before her gaze could shift away, her father’s presence approached.
“I know I’m not a good adult or parent. Even when manipulated by Doon, I caused pain. But perhaps I can make amends.”
He glanced at his other daughter and Wuki.
“I may not deserve it, but I must atone. Dark, my daughter, you can join us. Mom agrees. You have the right to a family.”
A middle-aged woman, standing by a backstage door, smiled seeing her husband and daughters embrace.
“Dr. Shabak…Dad!” Dark Pretty Cure tears flowed freely, hugging her father like a child, wetting his clothes.
Patting the girl’s back, seeing her sister’s awkwardness, the man held them both, restoring their lost bond. He hoped the gesture could heal their fractured relationship.
Watching the Moonshadow family finally reconcile, Wuki, an observer, smiled brightly like the sun.
