Ninety-Sixth: Destroying Trust Personally
Here we go, as if reading my thoughts!
Earlier, I was still worried with the manager that if the Desert Apostles attacked at this moment, how would we two fight against them. But after Wuki thought about it again, she realized it couldn’t be that coincidental, could it? After all, when looking at reality, the Desert Apostles are not like the beasts, they don’t come knocking every single day demanding overtime.
But just as she hung up the phone, the three elves’ hair horns all stood upright, clearly sensing the presence of darkness.
How coincidental can this get!?
Wuki clenched her teeth, looking back at the two people behind her and, with a sense of determination, charged forward first.
There was no other choice. If Lei and Erika had not made amends yet, the gap between them could lead to injuries in battle…. In that case, I will have to finish off all the enemies myself!
Pulling the trigger on the Emblem Breaker held in hand, the beam left behind scorched the roadside grass, while the light bullets exploding right in front of them caused passersby to flee in terror.
“Hmm, great job, this should be enough to lure them out.”
If this was another set location, she might have called for some minions to blow up a few buildings, but now, assimilating into the local culture has strangely turned her methods gentler—no explosions.
“That wilted flower, I’ll keep it; Heart Flower, come forth!”
“Spider Gaki, use this.”
With a cold look, Ash watched Spider Gaki pick a lucky viewer and extract their Heart Flower into a crystal. Picking up the crystal orb containing the victim’s body rolling close by, Ash tossed something else over.
“What’s this?”
Holding an upturned bowl-like object, Spider Gaki expressed confusion.
“This is a reference to a certain J… long-nosed alien’s得意 weapon. Due to time and material constraints, I only made a small version.” Ash explained as he transformed into a Kamen Rider, pointing at the Heart Flower in his hand. “But it should work perfectly for synthesizing specialized Desert Beasts, right?”
“Hmph, though I don’t know what you’re planning, but…. Desertaffine, descend!”
At Spider Gaki’s command, a massive hood-covered Desert Beast appeared.
“Hah, it worked.”
Underneath his mask, Ash smiled. Indeed, monsters in the Pretty Cure world—or more commonly termed “Assassin Matter”—typically needed to fuse with mundane objects to create creatures with special traits. These strange and diverse characteristics often put Pretty Cure to extraordinary trouble.
But what happens when the object of fusion isn’t a mundane thing, but a tool already imbued with extraordinary abilities?
“Then it’s time they experience it personally…. Oh, here they come.”
Spotting the three moving against the fleeing crowd, Ash showed a look of anticipation.
Drawing the new emblem from his waist, a red and blue glint flickered from the ruby spider carving, seemingly reminding Ash of something.
“Are you entrusting the hope of saving the world to them?”
“Hah, as if.”
“Timons!” Upon recognizing a familiar figure, Wuki immediately cried out in joy. But upon seeing the nearby Spider Gaki and the Desert Beast, her face changed dramatically.
“That Desert Beast!”
Looking at the burned grass beneath her feet, Wuki’s expression soured even further. “And these… Timons, did you do this? Why?”
“Hey hey, Wuki, what are you talking about?” Ash slung the Emblem Breaker over his shoulder, tilting his head with a “Are you serious?” tone. “Don’t you remember seeing me before? A villain would naturally perform evil deeds. Isn’t that the one you believe I am?”
“No way, not in my heart, Timons is never just a destructive villain desert apostle!”
Glancing at the impatient Spider Gaki beside him, Wuki continued to try reasoning gently. “No one says villains must be evil. So Timons, you…”
“!”
Wuki stared in disbelief at the gunfire that echoed from before her eyes!
“Wuki!”
The newcomers, alarmed by Tyomans pulling the trigger, rushed to Wuki’s side with relief settling in once she was seen uninjured.
A small pit blasted open next to where the girl took a step back, emitting lingering heat at the center.
Had Ash raised the gun barrel by an inch earlier, things would have looked grim.
“Ty… Tyomans?”
“Wuki, you know, warriors can’t forget their battles on the battlefield,” the mirror-like web mask reflected the girl’s shocked face.
At this very moment, he had once again destroyed Wuki’s trust from within.
“And there’s no time left. When someone is desperate, they can’t keep playing old games.”
Ash’s voice reverberated through the shocked Wuki in her mind, feeling as if something within her had finally broken. She understood Lei and the others’ sentiments too, almost.
“Play… to you is just a game?”
A voice full of intense resistance escaped from between Wuki’s pressed teeth, tears welling up in her eyes as she angrily glared at the Kamen Rider, a golden shining perfume bottle appearing in her hand.
“Wuki…”
“Popuri, everyone, I’m fine.” Wiping away tears that symbolized former emotions, the Heart Seeds appeared in their hands.
“Dare you betray the heart of our comrade….” Seeing the sadness in Wuki’s eyes, Erika, equally furious, stepped forward to scold her. “We’re not afraid of you in a three-on-three!”
“Let’s go, PrecureOpenMyHeart!”
Surrounded by glow, the girls transformed into legendary warriors, “Precure.” The only hiccup was that Pink and Blue, instinctively holding each other’s hands during transformation, hesitated briefly before letting go, causing their originally unified beams to split into different colors.
“A flower under the sun! Cure—oops!”
Emerging from the transformation light, the girl barely got a word out as Ash waved his hand, and at his command, the Desert Beast, being particularly ruthless, leaped towards them during the naming. An extremely uneasy feeling arose within the girls.
“Not good, run quickly!”
The fairly positioned Wuki rolled out of the attack range, but Lei and Erika weren’t as lucky, completely trapped in a hood produced by the Desert Beast’s hands—one on each side.
“What is this!”
Panicked, the two struggled frantically against the hood, but their attacks were utterly ineffective, sealed tightly inside.
“All right, Wuki.”
Facing Wuki’s increasingly dire expression, Ash moved closer.
“Now it’s a double team up.”
“Next is the evil two-against-one.”
