Chapter 179

The Seventy-Fourth It Seems You Too Are Heroes

“Die, humans!”

The two officers did not even plan to communicate with Ash. Officer Levi, tall and thin, took off his high-crowned hat, which flew towards Ash at a speed that defied logic. The hat spun fiercely in the air, slicing through the surrounding air and aimed sharply for Ash’s head.

But Ash reacted faster, his body moving instinctively from endless battles, almost collapsing backward in time to deliver a roundhouse kick to the underside of the hat, sending it flying off course. The spinning brim of the hat effortlessly cut through a row of old trees in a绿化带, severing them in smooth, tidy sections as they fell in交错.

“What a nuisance, if I were struck by this, I would die. I am your new colleague, is this how you greet people?”

“Colleague? Are you kidding?” Opposite him, Officer Levi, with a clown-like demeanor, contorted his body. To him, a human like Ash was a primitive creature, akin to monkeys. Just a monkey dares to call themselves a colleague?

I’ve just invaded several worlds on behalf of the Selfish King. What kind of person are you? Do you think you deserve that?

“Hehehe, Levi, stop wasting time. Let me eat him instead!”

With the sound of shark teeth clashing, Officer Gula, overweight yet quick, lunged at Ash, but Ash slipped away like an eel. Turning around, Ash rolled into his range, leaped forward, crossed his hands as a pivot point to thrust, and kicked like a double-barrel shotgun, striking Gula in the chest.

“Humans attacking me — ah!”

Ash delivered a blow with a unique force technique, something humans could never achieve, while Gula believed such a strike wouldn’t hurt him. This overconfidence turned out to be his fatal flaw; Ash’s kick hit perfectly, causing Gula’s once plump center to cave inward as he screamed and fell into a pile of felled trees, defeated.

In his heart, Ash calculated the timing; it seemed help was coming from the other side soon.

Unexpectedly, seeing the courage displayed by the young girl, merely stepping up could be considered heroic.

“As a reward for gratifying me, let your peers assist you.”

“Gula — no way, some puny human.”

“Ahh, no, this puny human. Humans can’t do such things. Who are you really? I am sick and tired of hearing that,” Ash, uninterested, dug his ear and flicked away some dirt, hurling it at Gula. “Can’t you come up with more original lines?”

“You dare underestimate me! I’ll kill you!”

“This line is also cliché.” Ash took out a card box and called forth a belt, tossing the card box into the sky, with his left foot stepping forward aggressively.

“But if you strike first, this counts as self-defense.”

“If it’s self-defense, I’ll make it even more decisive!”

Catching the fallen card box, Ash tossed it in the air, letting it spin before slipping it into the belt.

“Henshin!”

Seeing the dark knight appear, both officers’ jaws dropped nearly hitting the ground. Ryuga spread his arms wide like a cross, then swiftly lowered his hands to face them, rushing toward them with a slight bow.

“Let’s begin the festivity!”

“Come on, festival, festival!”

Chasing through alley after alley, Akuri felt burning pain in her chest, breathing painfully and struggling with her stomach’s severe discomfort. Several times she barely held back vomit.

If I had known better, I wouldn’t have eaten so much cake! The embarrassed girl mentally scolded herself, deeply regretting her actions.

“However… I can no longer run anymore!”

For some reason, the always punctual Pretty Cures were late today, and Akuri, relying solely on herself, realized that an ordinary child couldn’t defeat a monster that easily flattened buildings. She wondered:

“Is there a method… Ah, yes!”

She spied a red spot at a corner and an idea came to mind.

“Hey — Spiky-haired guy, catch me here, here!”

“You keep saying it’s not spiky hair, it’s a cigarette lighter! Egoism!”

Selfish Beast, which wasn’t too clever, was easily manipulated to attack Akuri who stood still instead of running. Not noticing the hydrant near Akuri, it charged.

“Egoism!”

“Ahhh!”

Almost risking her life, Akuri curled up against a nearby fire hydrant. When the fist hit the hydrant cap, water shot out like a high-pressure canon, drenching the Selfish Beast.

“Egoism!”

“yataze!”

Shaken by the deluge, Akuri shook her wet hair aside, and seeing the Selfish Beast’s pained expression, she grinned triumphantly.

Her gamble paid off!

Her experience taught her that selfish creatures influenced by the Spirit Heart tend to exhibit desires of their past owners. For instance, a radio monster created out of a desire for public music would stop broadcasting aggressive sounds when its power cord was cut.

It’s ridiculous but true, a result of the subconscious settings programmed into the original human soul, which manifests inner thoughts.

This cigarette lighter creature should be the same— extinguish its flame and it shall suffer heavy damage!

“Egoism!”

Suddenly, the Selfish Beast moved, shooting strands of smoke, blocking the hydrant’s hole.

What? The flames aren’t affected by water? Surprised, Akuri saw the lighter’s flame dampened but not extinguished.

“Not enough water power —!”

No longer holding back, the Selfish Beast flung its head, sending flames straight at Akuri. With nowhere to hide and no time to dodge, Akuri lifted her arms in front of her eyes, closing them in despair.

Losing to such an obstacle… how disappointing!

“Akuri!”

A familiar voice stunned her, wasn’t this Ruri’s voice? Why is she here, run!

Ruri gritted her teeth and threw the strange jewel towards the Selfish Beast.

“Egoism?!”

The moment the gem hit the flames, it exploded, knocking the Selfish Beast to the ground with a comical blackened face.

“Ruri… why?”

Akuri’s mouth agape, she did not expect Ruri to save her.

“A strange big brother told me becoming a hero isn’t just about defeating enemies, doing what one can also makes you a hero!”

Determined, Ruri sacrificed the power she gained to throw the gem as a one-time weapon at the Selfish Beast.

“This is what I could do. And I believe the Akuri who helped me without hesitation is truly the real hero!”

“Thank you, Ruri.”

In helping me, you were undoubtedly a hero as well!

However, the Selfish Beast did not fall easily. As the girls hugged each other, praying for a superhero to come, a beam of light struck down, toppling the beast.

It seemed a response to their prayers—Red, Blue, Yellow, Green, Pink—five warriors in close-fitting battle suits with unique helmets featuring railway goggles and numbered 1 to 5 on the helmets.

Before Ruri realized what happened, Akuri’s mouth gaped wide open. Her love for special effects allowed her to identify the heroes instantly.

These are Super Sentai heroes!

“Are they real?!”

And they weren’t even announced during broadcast slots, just previewed in children’s magazines, these warriors belonged to a newly formed team!

Smoke rising from a chimney atop their heads, Train Hero Team Shinkansen’s red warrior, Shinken One, stepped forward confidently to point at the Selfish Beast.

“Onward!”
