“Don’t rush to board. Let’s send the drones ahead to check,” Red said as he removed the equipment box from his back, which contained the drones.

He pressed the metal button in the middle of the box, and four drones detached from the box, hovering in mid-air before they entered an optical camouflage state.

Eden reported, “I’ve taken control of the drones’ operation. The recorded footage will be transmitted in real-time to your visors.”

The real-time feed displayed on the small screens on the helmets of Kui Xin and his team as they looked down at the Kraken from high above.

The deck of the Kraken didn’t have many people, and everything seemed peaceful. However, large plumes of smoke were billowing out from the exhaust pipes on the side of the ship, with sparks mixed within. The pipeline behind the cargo hold was also spouting flames, like erupting fire pillars.

It was impossible to determine the source of the fire just from the footage.

“What’s going on here?” Red analyzed the images. “Eden, have the drones circle the ship.”

“Affirmative, adjusting flight path,” Eden replied coldly.

Compared to August, Eden’s tone was more rational and void of any emotion. August’s voice design was slightly softer, making him sound less icy but still distinct.

Red grew more serious with each passing moment: “There are no signs of combat… No one is on the deck… How could this be possible? If the cabins are ablaze, they should be retreating to the deck. Shouldn’t the firefighting mechanisms on this ship work?”

Could this be the work of the Secret Cult? Kui Xin’s gaze darkened as he stared at the distant ship.

During Kui Xin’s last visit, before the Investigation Bureau took over the ship’s protection duties, the cargo ship had already been seized by the suspected Secret Cult forces.

They had destroyed the artificial intelligence aboard, killed many crew members, and finally sank the Kraken into the depths of the ocean. Even the Bureau, in the face of an exploding cargo ship, could only command their escort ships to stay away. The helicopters that aimed to rescue security officers crashed, leaving none of the security personnel alive, including Kui Xin.

Seeing the flickering flames on the cargo ship, Kui Xin couldn’t help but recall the devastation and despair of that day.

Everywhere there was fire, with dense smoke billowing throughout. Trapped in the corridors, the crew struggled to breathe, with heteromorphic creatures floating around as the lifeboats were damaged. Their escort ships pulled away, and the only escape route was to seek refuge in the sky… only to find that even that avenue was blocked.

It was truly an end without hope.

Even with the Reincarnation ability, Kui Xin remained cautious because it had limitations; once the quota was used up, death would be inevitable. If she couldn’t find a way to escape this situation in this cycle, being reborn would be pointless.

Leaving the cargo ship wasn’t an easy choice for Kui Xin. After dealing with the Investigation Bureau, she still needed to confront the Mechanized Dawn. There was no turning back, only moving forward.

To change her fate, she needed to uncover the mystery and survive the disaster on the Kraken’s deck.

Otherwise, her fate would still lead to death.

“Wait, there’s movement…” Red suddenly said.

随后，那名追赶者面容扭曲，头部猛烈膨胀，变成了一只可怕的怪兽。怪兽张开了如同捕食蛇一般的巨口，其嘴宽大到整个人头都能被完全包裹进去。在它的口腔中，还伸出两条触手，用于辅助吞咽。

怪兽一口咬下了男子的头颅，男子的无头尸体瘫倒在地，鲜血飞溅。接着，怪兽满意地打了个饱嗝，身体慢慢融化，面孔开始变化，逐渐变成了那被吞噬的男人的模样。

“这到底是什么玩意？”调酒师差点呕吐出来。

“异血者，还是某种未被观察并记载的新品种异形生物？”夜蝉厌恶地说，“我已经见过不少恶心的东西了，但这种还是第一次见。”

Red认真地说：“这怪兽很诡异……会吃人，会变化形态，还有触手，暂时看来，它是一种未知的异形生物。”

刺蔷薇咬了咬嘴唇，“为什么会在这艘船上出现这种东西？”

“会不会是那个秘密教团干的？”琥珀的视线转向Red。

黑曜随即开口：“这在我们的计划外，Red。有人先下手了。除了我们和联邦那些大人物，还有谁知道要攻击这艘Kraken呢？”

“那帮人没有能力掠夺一艘船……”Red低声说道，“那个会吃人的怪兽展现出的外观特征和特性，都完美契合异形生物的特点。”

“别忘了，组织以前做过的一些实验，异化的异血者甚至是能够和异形生物共存而不受攻击的对象，他们会把后者视为同类。我认为，等级更高的异血者或许能够指挥异形生物。”琥珀一口气说了很多话，“这船上怪兽的来路不凡，很有可能与秘密教团有关联。”

所有人都陷入了沉思。

银面四下张望，眨巴着眼睛，“呃……我们要登上那条船吗？”

“考虑一下，如果这艘Kraken真的被秘密教团控制，他们可能会怎么做？”隗辛轻声说道。

“当然会炸沉。”调酒师耸了耸肩说，“他们一直崇拜着自己的神，如果不能把整艘船带走，那么只能选择炸毁，避免联邦获得船上信息。”

刺蔷薇抱肩道，“没错，换成我也会这么做。与其让敌人获利，不如让他们捞不到任何东西。”

隗辛循循善诱：“那么，我们需要更改任务目标——查明究竟是谁袭击了这艘Kraken。弄清了这一点，我们才能制定下一步计划。”

就在这时，通讯频道里传来了隗海栋的声音。

“登船。”他下令，“如‘富婆’所建议的那样，首要任务改为彻底调查清楚船上的人是谁，然后再执行炸毁计划。我已经看过无人机传来的录像，那个会变形的怪物很有研究价值，尽量带上一个活体样本。”

“另外……”他顿了顿，“甲板下方的人工智能机库会记录航行过程中的各类数据。想办法拆下主控面板带回，那里可能藏有重要情报。”

“明白了。”夜蝉扫视众人，“所有人，做好准备，我的空间传送门会放在甲板上方。一旦传送完毕，大家立刻分散行动。分成多个小组执行任务，由我负责支援。不登船，遇紧急状况通过通讯器联系我。”

“甲板上没人，搜索是否有幸存者。‘富婆’和‘银面’去甲板下方查看，我和刺蔷薇、调酒师去取出主控芯片。”Red迅速重新分配任务，“琥珀，你跟我一组；黑曜，你跟着‘富婆’那组。”

这样的分配原因是Red和调酒师尽管有战斗能力，但超凡能力并不是为了战斗，刺蔷薇的战斗能力能够补足不足之处。隗辛和银面一个擅长生存，另一个具有超凡能力，能在很大程度上弥补短板。琥珀黑曜双胞胎的超凡能力同属精神系，一个小组中分配一人可以保持平衡，这是一次合理的安排。

Red就是那种极其谨慎的性格，他检查了自己携带的每件装备，并让全体队员报告自己的设备，确认无误后才令夜蝉开启空间传送门。

Red的一行人踏入了深蓝色的漩涡中，黑曜看了隗辛一眼，等她先走，银面也巴巴地看着她。

隗辛从腰间拿出一支冲锋枪，说：“走吧。”

穿过薄薄一层阻隔，她再次站到了Kraken的甲板上。

这次登船的感觉和上次完全不同。上次她对情况毫无了解，只能被动执行任务，现在她已经掌握了95%的信息，并且有了“可靠的”队友，夜蝉的存在大大提高了她的生存几率。

隗辛闻到了刺鼻的浓烟味道，混合着海风的腥咸味令人更加难以承受。不过，她的头盔这次几乎是全封闭式的设计，下巴和口鼻都被挡住了，头盔自带了防毒面具的功能。

隗辛平静地开启了头盔的防毒过滤功能，走向甲板入口。如果遇到类似上次的那种情况，她也不会恐惧，毕竟银面是个不错的灭火器。

与燃烧的甲板形成鲜明对比，甲板下方的空气还算清新，因为空调循环系统并没有像上次那样损坏，它仍在运行，排除刺鼻的烟雾。

走下地道层，隗辛首先注意到的是地板上留下的长长的痕迹。

那是血迹。角落里的自动清洁机器人正在坚持不懈地擦拭地上的血迹，轰隆隆的声音在走廊内回荡，形成了一幅惊悚而冰冷的画面。船员们的生死不明，只有机器按照预定程序工作。

长长的血迹如同没有尽头，一直延伸到深远处的走廊。

清洁机器人清扫到了隗辛的脚下。

“滴滴，请让一下。”机器人发出提醒，“滴滴，请让一下。”

隗辛面无表情地将这个聒噪的机器一脚踹爆。

“逐个搜查。”她低声说道，“找到所有幸存者，不要立刻杀死，我们需要对他们进行审讯。”

银面和黑曜微微点头。

当他们经过甲板下第一扇门时，隗辛的绝对预判为她带来了危险警报。

隗辛猛地转身，看向面前的金属门。

金属门突然弹开，一名身材魁梧的船员忽然冲了出来！这名船员手中握着枪，显然是在这守候已久。

他扣动了扳机，子弹旋转而出，击中了隗辛的外骨骼装甲，一声脆响，火花四溅。

隗辛是最快的，比银面还迅速！

在银面撑起水幕之前，隗辛急速下蹲，抬起腿横扫，将突然袭击的船员踢倒在地，那名船员甚至没能来得及发射第二颗子弹。

隗辛举起早已上膛的枪，果断地朝船员头部开枪。

消音枪只发出了轻微的声音，然而船员的头部却多了一个血淋淋的大洞，鲜血喷溅，沾到了隗辛的手枪上。

死去的船员面部扭曲，身体融化，恢复成了怪兽的模样，怪兽身上长有三张表情痛苦的人脸。

隗辛仔细辨认，没有发现安东船长的脸出现在怪兽身上……是因为安东船长还活着，怪兽还没来得及吃掉他，还是船上存在不止一个会变化形态的怪物？

“要提高警惕……这怪物很有智慧。”隗辛说。

银面欲言又止：“你不是说要留活口吗？”

他还没来得及出手，隗辛已经杀死了敌人。

隗辛一愣：“……我忘记留活口了。”

她是真的遗忘了。

经历这一切后，隗辛自己都没察觉，她患上了PTSD（创伤后应激障碍）。在战斗过程中，这种病症表现得尤为明显，具体表现为……她拿起武器时就会想要杀死对手，不论对方的身份。
