Chapter 53

Angels descended from heaven and humanity was destroyed.

Only a minuscule portion of humanity that fled underground survived.

The sun became the vigilant eye of the gods.

Humans could only survive in places where sunlight couldn’t reach.

But it was impossible for humanity to stay underground forever.

Most resources brought from the surface quickly depleted.

Just when people thought all was lost, a new project was completed.

[Project: Savior]

A project that utilized an unprecedented power source, the Angel Core, to create combat automatons that could fight in place of humans.

For some reason, no matter how they inserted the core, any male or feminine forms refused to activate, leading to all combat automatons being shaped like women.

Yeah, the conclusion here is that it’s a gacha game for otakus.

[This broadcast includes paid ads.]

It was homework.

My task was to run through the tutorial, where the player (commander) takes command of four automatons on their first mission.

The game featured 3D Graphics styled to appeal to otakus.

The system was turn-based RPG.

The concept could be described as a fusion.

While powered by angel cores, granting the automatons abilities akin to superpowers, the game was set in a near-future setting, so firearms and bombs still appeared.

It wasn’t the purest take on either fantasy or sci-fi.

It felt more like a mix of medieval fantasy and futuristic elements.

Still, the atmosphere wasn’t bad.

And the automatons were undeniably beautiful, with well-designed outfits.

Pass.

It was all quite basic.

[How can you bring a game like this when they’re advocating for healthier broadcasting culture?]

[Outright weeping]

[A broadcaster in the middle of their growth period enthusiastically endorsing this for money? Isn’t this like selling the future?]

[Then why do you have all the money in the world?]

“Ah, I have no problem when I’m the only one spending my allowance, but now I have employees to take care of. Don’t I need to pay their salaries?”

[Young head of household indeed]

[Ah, this is the weight of family]

[Legend Fighting!]

[Is this followed by Teama?]

[No? Going Macho, huh?]

[Do you have Macho fans?]

[Some spy trying to ruin the stream]

“Anyway, now that we’ve recovered the angel core, let’s proceed with creating the automatons. Only 20 minutes in and already we get 20 pulls? This is outrageous generosity.”

[Not biased at all]

[What kind of capitalist speech is this?]

[The acting is atrocious lol]

[The advertisers are gods!]

[The game allows infinite rerolls()]

[Let’s go then!]

[What should I aim for?]

Having no prior experience with gacha games, I did some research.

Thanks to the advertisers’ guidelines, I had a clear understanding of what to highlight.

Rerolls?

The shortened term for “reset marathons.”

This refers to the act of repeatedly resetting accounts using free pulls given early in the game until the desired character is acquired.

The developers of Project: Savior embraced the practice, allowing for infinite rerolls should you wish to try again.

This meant that within a 20-minute play session, you could repeat the 20 pulls as much as you desired.

They emphasized this point and asked me to do the same.

Free pulls? Endless chances?

That’s the direction I should guide viewers.

[Wow, SSR came out! lol lol lol lol]

[Look at that luck!]

[Since rerolls are infinite anyway, there’s no real point to SSRs. Let’s see which pops up]

[You must get a T1 character]

The gacha animations involved inserting and removing the round angel core into capsules, searching for the functional automatons.

The color of the capsules indicated the rank of the automaton inside.

When performing a 10-pull gacha, the capsule displaying the highest-ranked automaton showed up.

Amidst countless white capsules, an occasional red one appeared.

And the capsule that stopped for my core was prismatic.

Clearly an SSR.

“Ding ding ding!”

[Wow!]

[For real?]

[Yes, Alpha~ Yes, Alpha~ Yes, Alpha~]

[Hope for a T3]

…”Commander?… Give me 5 more minutes… Zzzz…”

The first SSR was a silver-haired loli character, Kanna.

It seems like she has the traits of a sleepyhead — an element that brings a comforting familiarity.

Familiarity means quality in this context.

So far, the concept art is up to standard.

[Wow, you’ve hit T1 right from the start!]

[This kind of luck, wow]

[Seems like there’s no need to reroll lol]

[Still, aren’t you supposed to get at least two since you’re given 20 pulls?]

[Kanna might be impossible to pull again if you reroll. Expected eternal ending lol]

: Ah, I should have picked Kanna back then!

Then came three consecutive R characters — the game’s version of bad luck.

But the screen lit up again.

An SSR.

…”Is this my master? Preferably don’t issue orders too often…”

A samurai-type character wielding a katana.

She had her chest bandaged, a lazy expression, and silver ponytail.

She appeared to have the archetype of a strong slacker: “Moon Ying.”

After a sleepyhead, a slacker.

Would this kind of squad configuration really work?

However, the otaku’s law dictates that the less they like to fight, the stronger they are.

And so both automatons proved to be incredibly powerful.

[OMG! T0 popped lol lol lol lol lol lol]

[Congratulations! You’ve pulled the lone god Moon Ying!]

[Wait, how did you get two SSRs in a 10-pull, and both are T1 and T0?]

[Is this skill?]

[Is this woman a god?]

[Why do names switch between Japanese, Chinese, and English?]

[There’s even Spanish lol]

Hold on—this is problematic.

Most gamers aim to acquire both Moon Ying and Kanna.

And yet, I’ve pulled both within 10 pulls.

Now there’s no way to truly emphasize the “infinite rerolls” or “free pulls” the advertisers wanted.

Regardless, I still have 10 pulls left, so let’s go ahead and use them.

“Another 10-pull it is. Oh?”

Another prismatic capsule, which meant another SSR pull.

[Is this real?!]

[Wait wut]

[20 pulls with 3 SSRs is so absurd]

[Use this kind of luck on lotteries for a lifetime!]

[The probability of pulling 1% SSRs 3 times within 20 pulls = 0.096096%]

[Superleague, Superleague, Superleague]

[Is the probability rigged because this is a sponsored ad? ]

[Watching this legendary player’s absurd SSR pulls, one suddenly respects Director Seong Seung-Hyun for discovering Ascend]

Skipping the R ranks and the potentially useful SR ranks, I checked the next SSR.

It was a blonde big-breasted nun character named Veronica.

After some otaku-style modifications, she still wore some variation of a nun’s habit.

Her breasts were as big as her head.

“Commander! Hi! What missions do you need me to do? Combat? Reconnaissance? Housework? Or… something else?”

Well, well, that certainly sparked the imagination.

[Ha!]

[Bread lol lol lol Bread lol lol lol]

[Your milk jugs are quite lovely indeed]

[Rice? Bath? Or shall it be me?]

[Too big for me personally]

A bright and flirtatious big-breasted nun?

That sure struck a chord with my preferences.

“Sexy…!”

I barely held myself back from finishing that exclamation.

We were streaming.

Phew, close one.

[Sexy?]

[Are you about to scream Yasu?]

[That’s what Yasu means lol]

[Shouting Yasu as an exclamation, a woman?]

[The answer is color pencil!]

“Whew. Veronica. So pretty. I’ve fallen in love. Totally in love!”

[Ok]

[Thank goodness, thought you were going to shout Yasu lol]

[Following Venus… a big fan of pine trees]

[A female streamer obsessed with big breasts beyond reasonable levels]

[Popular theory: Yearning for what one lacks]

[Oh heavens… We didn’t even know]

“Isn’t this game pulling SSRs way too easily? Completely generous. I have to start playing right away?”

[Only you]

<1% probability?>

[If you used this luck in lotto…]

[Someone donated 1000 won]

“I’m sorry, don’t send such impure donations during an ad. I’ll put them aside until the ad ends.”

[Oppression of public opinion!]

[This is tyranny!]

[Please give us back our innocent donor who needed no money]

[Your choice to turn pro. Face the consequences]

[Immediate corruption]

[Turns out there’s nothing that money can’t buy]

[Wow, the game seems so well done that I want to start downloading now. Is that allowed?]

[Capitalism is cold]
