Chapter 387

Chapter 387. Just Accept It Without Resistance (3)

But for Icarus and other users, they had no idea that the event was being held in such a way.

Everyone just went along with it, calmly proceeding with the event.

And as for our “Icarus A.K.A. Pirate Empress’s Virgin Taker,” what was he doing around this time…?

<Round 4 Cleared!>

<Battle Result: Victory>

<Enemy Fleet Annihilated>

<Proceed to the Next Round?>

<Y/N>

“Kyaaaaaaah.”

“You really sound like a pterodactyl, Commander.”

After easily handling the first round’s swarm with Ouroboros’s Big-Freaking-Gun in spread mode like eating cake.

Rounds 2 and 3 were also a breeze, with Dreadnought and Kraken leading the charge, flanking and crushing the enemy fleet.

It was such an easy situation that I couldn’t help but think this event was a total jackpot.

Even the fleet that appeared in Round 4 was a “small elite” force similar to my own, resembling a “user fleet.”

‘Ouroboros click, Hreðsvelgr click.’

Ouroboros, with its focused cannons that could sink even battleships in one shot.

And Hreðsvelgr, whose strategic missiles had grown to the size of a heavy cruiser due to leveling and equipment upgrades.

Unintentionally, my fleet composition ended up completely countering these “small but large ships.”

Thanks to clearing Round 4 faster and easier than expected, I was in the command center, echoing the joy of a pterodactyl.

And at this point, not only me but other users also realized that this event wasn’t about all users facing the “same” enemy…

Title: Now I see, this event has different enemies for each user.

Why though?

Comments:

– [Isn’t it to prevent latecomers from mooching off the early birds’ strategies?]

– [Oh, that makes sense]

– [Smart guy;;;]

– [But it’s not completely different]

– [They probably prepared a few hundred fleet compositions and just cycle through them]

– [Oh, so if you memorize them, you can counter the enemies each round?]

– [If someone could do that, they’d probably be at Harvard instead of playing games]

– [Harvard doesn’t exist anymore]

– [Oh]

– [LOL]

—————————————–

Turns out, up to Round 1, the structure was similar for everyone.

So early birds could benefit from the chatter of the frontrunners, giving latecomers an edge.

But from Round 2 onwards, the randomness increased, making it impossible for latecomers to just coast along.

So, maybe that’s why…

Title: The devs have lost their touch.

Kids these days, just randomly picking numbers and calling it RNG, what the hell.

If you’re gonna do it, at least randomize the number and composition of ships too.

Why the hell are you doing it so half-assed?!

Comments:

– [This is some kind of chimera dialect mix]

– [What are you even trying to do with randomizing?]

– [For example, only one ship appears, but it’s a super dreadnought or something]

– [If something like that pops up, can current user firepower even handle it? LOL]

– [There’s no such thing, but if there were, only siege assault ships could deal with it]

– [Strategic missile users could handle it, right?]

– [You’re probably confused by the 3rd place guy always spamming those, but they’re not that common]

—————————————–

There were murmurs about how the “number of possibilities” algorithm-based RNG wasn’t cutting it, and that true randomness should be implemented.

Of course, the devs weren’t going to bother with such trivial details, so most of it was just empty shouting in the gallery.

And among those countless users was me…

Also, in the gallery, I was passionately howling (?) and enjoying the event in various ways.

Anyway, all that miscellaneous chatter was just idle chit-chat, so I started focusing back on the event itself.

I decided to check out the current progress of the event.

And as the battle results showed, it had already progressed to Round 4.

<‘Final Resistance’ Special Base Management Menu>

<Remaining Base Upgrade Points: 5>

<Base Level: 3>

<Base Durability: Repaired>

<Base Defense Facility List>

<Defense Turret Satellites: 12> <1 point consumed every 5 added>

<Shield Satellites: 5> <1 point consumed every 2 added>

<Base Hangars: 3> <1 point consumed per addition>

<Additional Defense Facility List>

<None>

—————————————–

Just looking at the base’s defense facilities, there were quite a lot built already.

Especially those shield satellites, which had a special ability to deploy a shield that could completely ignore damage below a certain threshold—something only Xenobia Empire ships could use.

I had been diligently building them using the points given at the end of each round, but…

“Commander, aren’t you planning to build any additional defense facilities?”

“Hmm, it’s definitely about time to start building some.”

In Round 3, enemies like the ‘Firepower-Enhanced Dreadnought’ popped up and destroyed shield satellites in a single hit.

Whether I liked it or not, I needed separate defense facilities to block enemy attacks or paths.

So, I immediately went into the <Additional Defense Facility> management menu and started pondering what to build.

—————————————–

<Additional Defense Facility Construction List>

<Super Alloy Defense Barrier: Requires 1 point>

<Camouflaged Fortress Network: Requires 2 points>

<Large-Scale Minefield: Requires 1 point>

<Fleet Resonance Barrier (1-time use): Requires 1 point>

<Stealth-Cloaking Detection Radar: Requires 2 points>

<Warning!>

<All additional defense facilities can only be used once per round!>

<At the end of the round, both used and unused facilities will be deleted.>

—————————————–

Looking at the list and the required points, I was really torn.

“What’s the best option, Commander?”

“It depends on what the enemy throws at us.”

If the next round’s enemies are like Round 1’s ‘massive swarm of small ships’ or ‘aircraft carrier fleets deploying tons of aircraft,’ then barriers or shields would be useless.

On the other hand, if siege assault ships or super dreadnoughts with insane firepower show up?

Then minefields or detection radars would be meaningless.

As those gallery posts show, it’s not just me—other users are also going through the same painful agony.
