Chapter 385

Chapter 385. Just Accept It Without Resistance (1)

And besides what was shown to Jessica, there was a lot of chatter in the gallery about this event.

Of course, most of the talk was the usual stuff that always comes up when a “new event” drops…

Title: Hey, you clueless bastards, hurry up and spill the info

Hurry up and spill it.

A friend told me that if you want to ask questions in the gallery, don’t use polite language—just curse.

Hurry up and drop the info about this event, then scram.

Comments:

– [Why’s the newbie so aggressive?]

– [Back in the day, it was all about the “cool guy” meta, but now it’s shifted to the “aggressive guy” meta.]

– [Why are you suddenly killing my mom?]

– [Where did my mama go?]

– [The veterans are mysteriously turning into orphans lololololololololol]

– [This isn’t just a sudden acceleration—it’s full-on boost mode lol]

– [I didn’t tell you to go this far.]

– [Oh, I see (Author)]

– [And you’re admitting it?]

—————————————–

Most of the frenzy was from newbies trying to squeeze info out of the old-timer veterans (?) to get their hands on some sweet, sweet details.

Of course, in the process, there were plenty of moments where things got heated, as seen above.

But judging by how such posts often get tons of upvotes and become pinned, it’s clear that those situations are far from common.

Anyway, whether the newbies were freaking out or not, from my perspective, I already had a decent idea of how things would unfold.

So, I decided to organize my forces for the event and prepare diligently.

About 2-3 hours after I started my preparations, as the lively morning hours ended and the drowsy afternoon began…

—————————————–

<<<Global Event Message>>>

<‘The Last Resistance’ Event Map Open!>

<Details>

<A gate leading to the ‘Last Resistance’ event map has opened in front of the Commander’s base.>

—————————————–

With a cheerful *ding-dong* alarm sound, the event message popped up.

-*Beep beep beep! Beep!*

“Commander, a massive wormhole has appeared right in front of our base.”

“Wow… that’s quite the sight.”

Unlike usual, where wormholes would appear horizontally in front or behind the base, this time, since our base was docked at the center of the massive Tanhoizer stronghold, there was no space around it.

So, strangely enough, a grotesque wormhole, swirling with ominous shades of purple and black, complete with lightning strikes, opened right above our base.

And the moment that wormhole appeared, explosive reactions erupted in the gallery and chat.

<Let’s all use polite and kind words to maintain etiquette.>

-[The map’s open!]

-[Let’s gooooooooooooooo!]

-[GAZUAAAAAAAA]

-[Let’s goooooooooooooo!!!]

Title: Event Map Open

Yeah.

The color scheme and structure are so ominous, I don’t even feel like going in.

Comments:

-[Scared?]

-[Oh, crap (Author)]

-[Wait, I’m bringing the entire battleship fleet for a deep dive. Good luck.]

-[The necklace of approval bestowed upon him]

—————————————–

“Everyone’s charging in like crazy.”

“Yeah, no kidding.”

It wasn’t like someone was playing the Pied Piper of Hamelin, but watching them rush in like that…

It reminded me of a swarm of rats diving off a cliff. I nodded slightly and then…

“Jessica, none of the ships we’re deploying for this event are part of the Resource Mining Fleet, right?”

“No, but if you’re unsure, maybe you should double-check once?”

“Nah, no need for that.”

Lately, it’s not like…

Not a huge fleet, but they went and swapped the Resource Mining Fleet’s “Transport Destroyer” for a “Transport Light Cruiser.”

Maybe it’s because all the remaining Fleet Points were dumped into Large Ships.

**Fleet Status**

Total Points: 988/950 Points

– Dreadnought: 1 ship, 90 points each = 90 points

– Aircraft Carrier: 3 ships, 70 points each = 210 points

– Special Battleship: 2 ships, 65 points each = 130 points

– Battleship: 4 ships, 40 points each = 160 points

– Aetheric Submarine: 1 ship, 50 points each = 50 points

– Light Aircraft Carrier: 0 ships, 40 points each = 0 points

– Cruiser Battleship: 5 ships, 30 points each = 150 points

– Heavy Cruiser: 0 ships, 10 points each = 0 points

– Light Cruiser: 20 ships, 6 points each = 120 points

– Destroyer: 0 ships, 3 points each = 0 points

– Escort Ship: 0 ships, 1.5 points each = 0 points

– Patrol Ship: 3 ships, 1 point each = 3 points

– Resource Mining Ship: 30 ships, 1.5 points each = 45 points

If you exclude the 20 Light Cruisers and 30 Resource Mining Ships assigned to the Resource Mining Fleet…

From the Dreadnought to the Patrol Ships, there are only about 20 ships in total.

But with the massive screen in the command center and the view outside the window, it didn’t seem lacking at all…

So, confident there were no issues, I decided to lead my main fleet, spearheaded by the newly recruited Dreadnought still in leveling mode, through the wormhole into the event map.

**A moment later…**

As soon as we entered the wormhole, the sight was… well, let’s just say someone described it as “chaotic” right from the entrance.

The map was littered with debris and space junk, and at the center floated a massive base, shattered in places, just chilling in space.

I immediately ordered the fleet to head toward the base and thought about checking the gallery to see how the newbies would react.

But just before I could act on that thought, a sudden event message popped up.

**<Global Notice>**

**<<<Event Guide for 'The Last Stand'>>>**

**Attention, Commanders:**

In this event, **only your main fleet** is allowed to participate. No other forces are permitted.

This includes mercenaries hired from the Mercenary Dispatch Center, faction dispatch teams, base mercenary groups, and even “hired mercenary groups” that are technically part of your fleet under the “Subordinate Contract Management.”

Well, it’s obvious, but apparently, a lot of users didn’t know.

**Title:** WTF, my hired mercenary group!!!

**Author:** Anonymous

**Content:** [Image of a toad screaming after reading the event notice]

“I spent a fortune hiring and integrating this mercenary group, and now they can’t even join? Is this for real? What the actual f***, salt milk or something?”

**Comments:**

– [LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL]

– [What can you do? Deal with it.]

– [At least they’re defending the base, right? Have a drink~]

– [LOL]

– [What’s “salt milk”?]

– [Sounds like a weirdly tasty metaphor, but I forgot what it means.]

Seeing all the tearful posts flooding the gallery, I realized why the admins felt the need to issue another notice. I could only shake my head.
