Chapter 355

Chapter 355. Fortress Main Gun Restoration Project.

But those thoughts were fleeting.

At this moment, I suddenly remembered something important that I had been too busy to recall.

“Wait a minute, didn’t the Tanhoizer have a fortress main gun?”

“…Yeah? Why isn’t it there?”

As Marian had pointed out earlier, the Tanhoizer originally had a big and beautiful ‘fortress main gun’ attached to it.

It was something that could obliterate at least 25,000 ships in one shot, far more powerful than our Ouroboros’ quintuple-combination flamethrower.

So why isn’t it there?

At least when the temporary clan led by a user named Auroral crashed into it last time, it was still there.

But at some point, it seemed to have melted away like it was nothing, which is pretty bizarre.

And it wasn’t just me—other users seemed to feel the same way.

Posts questioning my Tanhoizer strategy were popping up in the gallery.

Title: Hey, where did you sell off the Tanhoizer’s main gun?

That thing used to be there, right?

It was this insane thing that could wipe out tens of thousands of ships in one shot. Where did you sell it off?

This doesn’t make sense.

Comments:

-[Oh, yeah, that’s true.]

-[For real, where did the main gun go?]

-[Didn’t it get destroyed by the Ouroboros bombardment?]

-˪[The Ouroboros bombardment only hit the armor and defense facilities, the fortress main gun wasn’t there.]

-˪[Hmm, interesting;;;]

‘I’m curious too, guys.’

And since I also shared that curiosity, while I was busy deleting and blocking posts from the usual troublemakers, I kept wondering why the main gun was missing.

Fortunately, not long after, a post by a user cleared up the confusion.

Title: The reason why the Tanhoizer has no main gun

Well, of course, it’s because we blew it to smithereens.

Always be grateful, E-karos.

Comments:

-[What?]

-[When did you destroy it?]

-˪[During the last siege battle led by Auroral’s temporary clan.] (Author)

-[I’ve never seen it being destroyed.]

-˪[That’s because the 100 suicide squad took it out before any real-time broadcasts or anything could happen.] (Author)

-˪[Later, when I saw footage someone recorded, there were a few more fleet bombardments nearby, so that might’ve contributed.] (Author)

-˪[There wasn’t even a trace left.] (Author)

-˪[Oh, I see.]

—————————————–

‘Ah, I see now, I totally get it.’

That’s right.

Surprisingly, the temporary clan that had crashed into it before me had secretly devoured the fortress main gun without anyone noticing.

As a result, what was supposed to be the fortress main gun had turned into debris, rendering it completely useless in this battle.

Of course, as I was nodding along to these posts, Jessica, who was reading the gallery posts beside me, tilted her head in confusion.

“Commander, even if the main gun was destroyed, isn’t it strange that it hasn’t been repaired after all this time?”

“Huh?”

“It’s been quite a while since the temporary clan conducted the siege battle. Isn’t it odd that it hasn’t been fixed in all that time?”

“Ah, that’s what you’re curious about.”

And Jessica’s question was very reasonable, so I nodded and decided to explain.

“You know how NPC-controlled bases automatically repair their defense facilities, right?”

“Yes, of course. We just fought against that, didn’t we?”

“But those defense facilities only include things like interceptor hangars or defense turrets—’general facilities.'”

“General facilities, huh?”

Naturally, Jessica made a face that seemed to say, ‘Why does such a tedious and complicated system even exist?’

To convince her (or not), I decided to throw the gallery wiki tab at her, as I always do.

Title: Differences When the Owner of a Base Defense Facility is an NPC vs. a User.txt

Author: Wiki Officer mk-45

When a user or clan tries to take over a base, they often feel both panicked and oddly welcoming. Why? Because they’re wondering, “Why isn’t the defense facility I destroyed last time auto-repairing?” Especially super weapons like the “Fortress Main Gun” tend to have this issue. To be precise, the question is, “Why is this one repaired, but that one isn’t?” So, what’s the answer? It’s because those facilities aren’t included in the auto-repair system. Users have to spend a certain amount of resources and go through a separate event to repair them. But NPCs can’t initiate events, right? It’s a bit微妙 (subtle), but due to system limitations, NPCs can’t touch them even if they wanted to.

Comments:

– [So, if the Fortress Main Gun gets destroyed, can’t it be fixed until a user captures it?]

– [Yep, unless there’s some special event or something.] (Author)

– [So that’s why NPC bases get weaker after a few attacks.]

“I see.”

“That’s how it is.”

==========

Anyway, after roughly understanding the situation, we finally docked our base at Tanhoizer. We aimed to restore the big and beautiful Fortress Main Gun to prepare for any potential attacks from those pesky 종간나들 (a term for annoying enemies). But there was one微妙 problem…

<Tanhoizer Fortress Main Gun Restoration Mission!>

<Restore the completely destroyed Fortress Main Gun to strengthen the base’s defenses!>

<Fortress Main Gun Restoration Cost: 10,000,000 Minerals, 4,300,000 Rare Resources, 20,000 Gold>

<Restoration Time: 34 days, 23 hours, 35 minutes, 27 seconds>

“It’s expensive… and takes forever.”

“You’re telling me, Commander.”

Restoring the Fortress Main Gun costs a whopping 10 million minerals alone. Over 4 million rare resources are also required, and for some reason, they’re even asking for ‘Gold.’ The sheer horror of the resource demands and the time required is enough to make anyone scream in shock.

“Jessica, how much resources do we have left?”

“As I mentioned, after terminating the mercenary contracts, we have 1.5 million minerals and 24… no, 25 million rare resources.”

“…What’s our maximum storage capacity?”

“As I said, we can currently store up to 30.5 million.”

‘Holy moly.’

For a single user, my resource storage is insane. Yet, this thing demands half of it in one go? Even the附属 buildings of a level 9 base are expensive enough to make your hands tremble, but this crazy thing demands even more. My excitement quickly turned into frustration, making me want to scream.

But that was short-lived.

-*Beep beep beep! Beep beep beep!*

-“Commander! About 10 other commanders’ fleets are closing in on us!”

“Ah.”

It hadn’t even been 3 hours since we took control of Tanhoizer and docked our base. Already, users were popping up, ready to cause trouble. Whether I liked it or not, I decided to build that darn Fortress Main Gun and completely block these small-scale user attacks.
