Chapter 334

Chapter 334. Ouroboros. (3)

The Ouroboros-class, which made me feel an intense desire to possess it, already had a strange “ship class” that stimulated my gamer senses.

**Title:** Ouroboros-Class Annihilation-Type Siege Battleship

**Author:** Wiki Officer mk-25

**Content:** [Ouroboros-Class Battleship Concept Art.jpg]

A chimera-like ship that’s a mix between an annihilation ship and a siege battleship, often called the “Big-F♡cking-juji.”

It was updated during an event where the Earth Federation launched a large-scale invasion across the galaxy.

At first, only NPCs could use it, but later, as the game’s popularity grew, it was released to players.

Anyway, its purpose during the event and now is to be used by the Earth Federation to invade player and other faction bases or to wipe out fleets on a large scale.

As for its armament and performance, excluding the special weapon attached to the lower hull, its own weapons are pretty underwhelming for its size.

It has two standard triple-barreled high-output particle beam turrets, two VLS systems, and some 250mm CIWS.

The VLS is mostly filled with anti-air missiles for self-defense, so it gets wrecked by battleships or cruiser battleships a tier below it.

The CIWS is also insufficient in number for its size, so if left alone, it gets pummeled by aircraft.

Its own defense is pretty pathetic too—average heavy cruiser cannons between A~S class can pierce it easily.

Its electronic warfare defense is surprisingly decent, though, and it can counterattack if hit by electronic warfare ships below A-class.

Mobility is good. Despite its ridiculously unbalanced appearance and size, it moves quite nimbly, probably because its armor is thin.

At first glance, the Ouroboros-class might seem like a giant piece of junk.

But ignore everything I just listed except its mobility.

Its official name is super complicated, so you can memorize it later when you see the concept art.

Just know that the real star of the show is the “special weapon” I briefly mentioned earlier, which players have nicknamed the “Flamethrower.”

This thing is ridiculously strong.

Annihilation ships already go all-in on firepower, and even heavy cruisers or battleship-sized ones can deal significant damage to base walls.

But the Ouroboros-class takes it to another level.

A standard battleship with reinforced armor can’t even last 30 seconds against it.

The longest it lasted was a shield ship with fleet barriers, Xenobia shield equipment, beam coating, reinforced armor, and an armor-specialized dreadnought—and even that couldn’t last a minute at full power.

Still don’t get it?

In focused mode at full power, it can breach a Level 7 base wall in two shots.

But the Ouroboros-class’s true value lies elsewhere.

The special weapon, nicknamed the “Flamethrower” or “Flamer,” works like this:

It releases the concentrated energy and literally sprays it forward, like a flamethrower in movies.

Of course, without focus, heavy cruisers and above only get their armor slightly scorched.

But anything weaker than a heavy cruiser—light cruisers and all small ships without reinforced armor—just melt away.

And the range is insane.

The energy that can breach a Level 7 base wall is sprayed out unfocused, like a fart in the wind.

Even if a fleet of thousands spreads out wide, a third of them will die in one shot.

Of course, for balance reasons, the flamer can’t be fired repeatedly.

After one shot, the armor plates are forced open, and heat sinks pop out, making it vulnerable to lucky shots that can disable the flamer and cripple the ship.

But hey, it can wipe out a fleet in one shot. Cheers to that.

**Comments:**

– [Why is there so much text?]

– [Where’d you sell the 3-line summary?]

– [It’s a ridiculously strong and giant glass cannon.] (Author)

– [You stretched that one line into 20 lines, you jerk.]

Ah, what a beautiful word.

A “one-shot-for-you, one-shot-for-me” (cannon) type ship that every no-nonsense badass dreams of.

And its firepower is insane—one shot can wipe out a third of a maxed-out fleet.

Even the average player or NPC fleet…

If it’s a formation, at least 30%.

You could say it’s something that can blow away up to 50% in one shot.

“Jessica, if we ram that into the Tanhoizer…”

“That would be insane. We could completely tear down the outer wall with that Ouroboros-class and take out the command center while buying time with the mercenary group.”

“Not to mention, we could wipe out the swarm of enemy guard fleets or main fleet’s small ships in one go.”

“Hmm, but the battlefield is too wide to do it all at once.”

Of course, the command center of the base is inherently located deep inside, so if we blow it up, the base itself would be completely wrecked and rendered useless…

We couldn’t use the former method, but the latter method of ‘mass removal’ would be incredibly effective.

Or, like what happened to me, we could use focused mode to blow away entire enemy battleship formations in one go.

Anyway, the important thing is, if we successfully capture the Ouroboros-class, our strategic options would become truly limitless.

I was determined to secure the Ouroboros at all costs, even if it meant sacrificing all other ships except the Nerañzara in this battle.

And with that thought, another idea started creeping into Jessica’s and my minds…

“By the way, Commander, I just had a thought.”

“Yeah?”

“…If the enemy fleet had fired in spread mode instead of focused mode, our fleet would have been completely wiped out, right?”

“…Luck, just luck.”

Despite the overall fleet being spread out, the ‘main ships’ were clustered in the center.

Those NPCs fired in focused mode to snipe the main ships, so only a third of the fleet’s strength was lost.

If you add my strength and Arcadia’s, it was only a sixth of the total strength that got blown away.

But if they had fired in ‘spread mode’?

Then we would have lost most of the small ships that make up the bulk of our forces.

Even Nerañzara’s ‘periscope’ would have been destroyed, and the game would have been over.

Realizing that we survived purely by luck, I felt cold sweat dripping down my spine.

But that was only for a moment.

“Alright, let’s focus on the ongoing battle for now.”

“Of course, Commander.”

Since the battle was still ongoing, I decided to stop dwelling on unnecessary thoughts and focus on managing the fleet properly.

…No point in chatting away and letting the enemy scout us, only to get hit by a flamethrower. That would be so unfair.

Meanwhile, right after Icarus closed the gallery window.

Among the veterans in the gallery, there was some quiet chatter about the ‘proof shot’ Icarus had posted.

Of course, it wasn’t part of some sinister plot.

Wait, wasn’t that thing worth like 150 or 200 points?

What the hell did that guy bring to make something like that pop up?

Comments:

– [What are you talking about?]

– [They said it was 2.5x in the event, but it wasn’t the fleet size, it was the ships that got 2.5x stronger.] (Author)

– [What?]

– [So you’re saying Icarus has small ships that cost at least 50 points each?]

– [Yeah, that’s what I think.] (Author)

– [Icarus hasn’t responded, probably still in the middle of a round.]

After the veterans analyzed Icarus’s proof shot and the presence of the Ouroboros-class.

The existence of Nerañzara, which Icarus had been hiding, started to become known to other veterans as ‘something significant’.
