Chapter 21: The Mage Association

Chapter 21: The Mage Association

The Mage Association is a very special institution within the Elven Race.

As the name suggests, all members of the Mage Association are Mages.

The purpose of such an institution is naturally to facilitate the management of those Mages in civilian life.

In return for being managed, the Mage Association provides Mages with some irresistible, generous rewards.

For example: Notes and insights from a certain Grand Mage’s magical training, as well as some rare magical materials, and so on.

However, it’s not easy to manage these Mages, especially those who enjoy being unconventional.

Those who are capable of being unconventional must be powerful, at least Seventh-level Mages.

In such cases, the Mage Association can’t be too strict with them.

After all, they have the power to back it up!

Fortunately, with Domiya, the renowned Grand Mage of the Elven Race, on their side, the Mage Association’s subsequent actions have become much smoother.

Mages might not care about other things, but when it comes to their magical training, they are very invested.

If they can gain the favor of Domiya and receive some personal guidance, they can surely advance even further in magic.

Thus, upon receiving this news, Mages from various places crazily gathered.

In this respect, being able to receive Domiya’s teaching makes Airael enviable to many Elves.

However, envy aside, they clearly know the giant gap between themselves and Airael, the Elven Queen.

Firstly, Airael is the Elven Queen, recognized by the Grand Priestess Linis, with a status that is exceptionally noble;

Secondly, her magical talent is top-notch, considering she has been recognized as Your Majesty by Grand Priestess Linis.

Lastly, there’s that elusive luck—if only they had been born into the right family!

If they had been reborn as Airael, then all of this would be theirs.

Although things at the Mage Association have improved significantly with Domiya’s involvement, Linis still didn’t have time to slack off.

Winning a war doesn’t just rely on the troops at the front; the rear is just as crucial.

Especially various logistical supplies, such as: medicine, weapons, armor, bows, arrows, food supplies, and so on.

All these need to be gathered quickly and delivered to the fighting troops at the front as soon as possible.

Fortunately, Linis’s prestige is still substantial.

Once the various orders were passed down, although some may not align with certain Elves’ interests, they can only grit their teeth and accept them while cursing those damned humans for daring to wage war against the noble Elves—absolutely reckless.

That evening, at the Mage Association.

Sitting in her temporarily set-up office, Domiya was reading through a list of Mages under the light of the magic lamp in her room.

Most of the Mages on this list had only signed up after she arrived here.

Clearly, they came seeking her favor.

Upon careful observation, one would notice that the Mages listed here are all Fourth-level or higher; those below Fourth-level, not just Mages, but other professions wouldn’t be called upon by the Elven Race to go to war.

After all, they are still underage—children.

It’s known that with a growth period of five hundred years, Elven children reach at least Fourth-level shortly after coming of age.

In this regard, Humans are far behind Elves.

If Human children don’t train diligently before adulthood, they might end up without even a First-level power after growing up.

“Knock! Knock! Knock!”

Just as Domiya was seriously reading, someone knocked on the door.

“Come in!”

Domiya called out, still focused on the list in her hands.

Although the strength of these civilian Mages is generally lacking, at least they came seeking her name, so Domiya thought it would be good to remember a few for guidance later—this wouldn’t be too taxing.

The door swung open, and a male Mage in a red robe entered.

Domiya glanced at him and returned her gaze to the list, asking, “Nibus, President, what can I do for you?”

The visitor was none other than Nibus, the current President of the Mage Association—a Ninth-level High Mage.

However, having such dual identities doesn’t quite measure up in front of Domiya.

No matter her role as a Grand Mage or as the magic instructor of Your Majesty, she far surpasses his two identities.

“Lady Domiya, I’m puzzled about why you wish to involve yourself in this matter?”

“Who prompted you to ask this question?”

Upon hearing the question, Domiya’s expression immediately turned cold, staring at Nibus with intensity.

Feeling the pressure emanating from Domiya, Nibus immediately broke into a sweat and hurried to respond:

“I acted on my own accord to ask this.”

As soon as Nibus answered, the pressure from Domiya vanished, yet he still felt an overwhelming sense of fear.

Is this the chasm between a Holy Mage and a High Mage?

Just a moment ago, he felt as tiny as an ant.

With all that power, yet nowhere to use it, the surrounding magical elements seemed to reject him.

“Why did you come to ask this?”

Domiya looked at Nibus with interest.

“Because Lady Domiya’s actions seem quite strange; it’s unexpected for a Mage of your caliber to involve yourself in such mundane affairs,” Nibus replied.

“There’s no such thing as mundane affairs for me; I simply come and go as I please.”

Domiya nonchalantly replied.

Faced with Domiya’s capriciousness, Nibus could only smile wryly.

What could he possibly say?

She has the freedom to do as she pleases.

“Well then, I see I’ve overstepped.”

“Nibus, how do you view the current Elven Race?”

Just as Nibus was about to leave, Domiya suddenly spoke up.

Domiya seemed casual, yet Nibus sensed the depth behind her words.

This inquiry clearly held deeper meaning.

After pondering for a moment, Nibus replied: “Lady Domiya, I think the current Elven Race is doing quite well; the new Your Majesty has ascended and is under your careful tutelage alongside other instructors. I believe our Queen will surely shine in the future.”

“Indeed, our new Queen is exceptional, but your understanding of the Elven Race seems quite shallow, doesn’t it? President Nibus!” Domiya said, deeply disappointed in Nibus.
