Chapter 7: Little Princess Aidaanna

Chapter 7: Little Princess Aidaanna

In order for her daughter to be born smoothly, Airael could only strive harder.

Nearby, Linis and the priests were silently cheering Airael on.

At last, accompanied by a resounding cry, Airael lay on the bed like a limp noodle, relief washing over her face.

She had underestimated the pain that childbirth would bring her.

However, thinking of the little one who had just come into the world, her heart felt warm and fuzzy.

This was the continuation of her life in this world.

Beside her, while Airael sank into her thoughts, Linis directed the priests to get busy.

Once everything was in order, she cradled the swaddled little princess and brought her to Airael, placing her beside the queen, saying, “Your Majesty, this is your child. Take a look at her.”

At that moment, Linis felt quite at ease.

Though the little princess was a half-breed of both the queen and a human, it was clear that the elven blood within her was strong, as she possessed all the typical elven traits, including those symbolic pointy ears.

Airael came back to reality and gave Linis a pale smile before turning to look at the little one who only had her head visible.

Unlike human babies, who generally look wrinkled and not-so-cute at birth, this little elf with elven lineage was quite adorable.

Right now, the tiny one was staring at her with wide blue eyes.

Airael’s face broke into another smile, glowing with maternal love.

At that moment, she had truly stepped into the role of a mother.

“Your Majesty, have you thought of a name for the little princess?” Linis asked, admiring the beautiful scene of the mother and daughter together.

“I have! Let’s call her Aidaanna!” Airael’s gaze remained fixed on her child, Aidaanna.

“Aidaanna, huh?” Linis murmured, turning her attention to Little Anna.

As if sensing her gaze, Little Anna also shifted her big, curious eyes toward Linis.

Seeing that innocent yet inquisitive look, Linis couldn’t help but smile.

What a delightful little one!

Hoping she would bring new hope to the Elven Race, Linis prayed in her heart.

In the blink of an eye, another month passed by.

Having completed her month of confinement, Airael’s body was almost fully recovered.

During this past month, Airael had been glued to Little Anna, watching her grow day by day.

Though the little one could be quite noisy at times, making it hard for Airael to rest as she should, the moment Airael felt a twinge of annoyance, she would quickly forget it and revel in the joy of motherhood.

However, as the queen of the Elven Race, such blissful moments couldn’t last forever.

She hadn’t attended to the affairs of the capital for months, and if she didn’t regain control at this moment, the people below might start harboring some not-so-good ideas.

Thus, Airael reluctantly set aside her morning to return to managing the affairs of the capital, allowing Hela and the others to take care of Little Anna.

In the office, Airael tackled urgent matters at hand.

Most of the issues in the capital revolved around economic disputes.

For instance, unpaid wages to employees.

There were generally two scenarios.

One was a genuine cash flow issue, while the other was intentional negligence.

The matters that fell into Airael’s hands were certainly the more complex cases with greater impacts.

For example, those that caused significant trouble, perhaps leading to violent conflict and even implicated some elven nobles.

Airael needed to handle these judiciously.

Of course, her heart was still with the workers.

They worked for you to earn a living; expecting them to work for free was utterly unreasonable.

As for those who purposely withheld wages, Airael’s approach was to impose penalties, mandating timely payment to the workers, and if funds were insufficient, she would find ways to assist the employers.

While she intended to centralize power, it wasn’t for the sake of dictatorship.

The government must serve the people.

Only a government that serves its people can win their hearts.

And the one who wins hearts can seize the world.

After finishing her morning’s work, Airael couldn’t wait to leave the office for lunch.

At the dining hall, Hela was already waiting with Little Anna in her arms.

Airael hadn’t bothered to find a wet nurse for Little Anna; she had enough milk for herself, perhaps even too much.

Every time, she needed to express some and store it for Little Anna’s later meals.

Especially in the mornings when Airael was at work, Little Anna couldn’t just come find her whenever she was hungry.

It was easier if she didn’t have to summon the ministers; otherwise, she really couldn’t feed her.

Moreover, Airael believed that letting her child grow up on her own milk was what made her a real mother.

After enjoying her lunch and replenishing her strength, Airael began feeding Little Anna.

Cradling her daughter’s soft little body, feeling the nutrients being drawn from her by that tiny mouth was a feeling both strange and wonderful for Airael.

Once upon a time, she was a man.

But now, time had passed, and she had become the queen of a nation, a mother to a child, and was providing her sustenance.

While Airael was lost in thought, Little Anna had already eaten her fill in Airael’s embrace.

With a “pft,” the chubby little thing spat out some milk and fell asleep right there.

Hearing the noise, Airael snapped back to reality, straightened her clothes, and turned to Hela, who was standing by almost like air, asking, “Did Anna cry a lot this morning?”

Hela replied, “Your Majesty, unless she needed something or was hungry, the princess didn’t cry at all this morning. Despite being so small, she’s quite understanding.”

“Thank you, Hela.”

This was only to be expected.

What are children, after all?

Their energy is limited.

They generally only cry in those two situations, spending most of their time resting.

Just like now, after eating, she would sleep.

“That’s my duty, Your Majesty, and the little princess is very cute; it’s my honor to care for her.”

Airael nodded, saying no more to Hela, her gaze returning to her daughter.

Hela stood back, looking at the mother and daughter with a gentle smile.

After sitting in the dining hall for a while longer, Airael finally stood up, holding Anna and heading towards the bedroom.

Compared to before, beside her big bed now stood a crib.

For a bedroom almost a hundred square meters in size, adding one crib made hardly any difference.

Airael placed Anna in the crib, sat beside her for a moment to watch, before finally taking a rest.
