Chapter 3: Arthur’s Development

Chapter 3: Arthur’s Development

Thus, Airael was pondering how to face everything that was coming next.

The Elven Race would surely become the center of attention among all the races in the world, and one wrong move could spell disaster for them.

Right now, the Elven Race was in a critical period of development and transformation. If outside forces intervened, things could really spiral out of control.

Thinking about this made Airael’s head throb.

She rubbed her forehead with her hand.

She decided to stop dwelling on this troublesome matter and prioritize taking care of herself.

After all, it wouldn’t be good if the child in her womb was affected by the chaos.

Having made up her mind to let it go, the experienced Airael quickly pushed the matter aside.

After all, this issue wouldn’t directly impact her for the time being; she still had ample time to come up with a better solution.

It’s important to note that although the humans had settled the dwarven turmoil, their situation was still a chaotic mess.

From what Airael knew:

The Georgia Kingdom had suffered heavy losses in this war, the young prince of the Nick Kingdom still needed experience, and the Machia Republic, due to Arthur’s presence, was sure not to remain peaceful…

Not to mention the various other races lurking in the dark corners of the human world.

Like those vampires she had encountered before.

Those vampires had already gained formidable power.

Airael doubted they would be content with isolation.

As she gradually drifted off to sleep, all these thoughts were temporarily forgotten by Airael.

When she finished her afternoon nap, she strolled around the royal palace, leisurely enjoying her day as if everything was perfectly fine.

No worries about food, with caretakers tending to her every need.

If it weren’t for the enormous dangers looming ahead, Airael might have completely lost herself in this blissful existence.

Indeed, comfort and pleasure could easily dull a person’s edges.

While Airael reveled in her luxurious life, Arthur was having quite a different time on the other side.

He needed to build his own power from scratch.

Even though he had a legion at his disposal and the Tower of the Archmage helping him in secret, these forces did not truly belong to him.

Therefore, after reaping huge benefits from the war with the dwarves, Arthur began laying the foundations for his own influence.

If he wanted to establish his own power, he needed to “recruit and hire,” bringing in all sorts of people, especially those skilled in scientific research technologies, as Airael had emphasized.

Although they had gained dwarven technology through the war, as Airael pointed out, they couldn’t rely on other races to drive their technological revolution.

Humanity couldn’t just learn or plunder; they had to learn to control core technologies themselves.

This time, they had managed to render the dwarves’ advanced weapons useless due to a torrential rain, but the dwarves would surely take this as a lesson.

Next time, trying to replicate this success would only become more difficult, and the costs of defeating the dwarves could potentially put humans at risk of being overrun by them.

Thus, Arthur fully took Airael’s advice to heart, pulling in those capable of scientific research and gathering them for his own use, while also providing them with generous benefits.

Meanwhile, he didn’t forget about expanding his military might.

Power comes from the barrel of a gun.

It wasn’t enough to merely possess technology; he needed soldiers who could wield that technology.

In terms of military strength, the first thing Arthur had to do was to gain complete control over the army he had.

This wasn’t too difficult.

Though the composition was diverse, their interests were compelling, and the two wars had already established Arthur’s considerable prestige among them.

Arthur wasn’t a stubborn leader either; he promoted those willing to follow him and rewarded them well.

For those who refused to follow, he wouldn’t hinder their departure.

Besides these two crucial matters, there were numerous other tasks Arthur needed to attend to.

In summary, Arthur couldn’t afford to rest for even a moment; he wished he could split himself into several people.

Meanwhile, in the Georgia Kingdom.

In the Machia military camp outside the royal city.

Arthur was going over several documents in his hands, each containing various names.

Each name was accompanied by detailed descriptions of the person’s past and character.

They could be considered profiles for everyone on the list.

“Commander!”

As Arthur was absorbed in reading, Cain walked in from outside, calling out to him.

“Cain, you’ve arrived.”

Arthur looked up with a smile.

“I called you over to discuss internal position changes and rewards for the legion, since you are the vice-commander, your opinion is quite important.”

Cain’s face lit up at those words.

He wasn’t the type to shun fame and fortune; otherwise, he wouldn’t have initially sought profit through competitive means.

Although Arthur had interrupted his plans, he still admired Arthur and was willing to follow him.

Hence, Arthur’s willingness to consider his opinion made him quite happy.

Seeing Cain’s cheerful demeanor, Arthur smiled slightly and handed over the documents in his hands: “You can take a look at their information. It’s not very comprehensive, but it should suffice.”

Cain straightened his serious expression, stepped forward, and took the documents Arthur offered, carefully examining the contents.

Arthur waited patiently for Cain to finish reading.

After Cain took some time to read through everything, he returned the documents to Arthur, saying, “I’m done.”

Arthur accepted them and handed over a prepared form: “Check this out too and tell me your thoughts.”

Cain received it and began to review it.

It clearly outlined each person’s position changes and rewards/punishments.

Upon finishing, Cain returned it to Arthur.

Noticing that he seemed hesitant to speak, Arthur prompted, “If you have any opinions, feel free to share.”

“Everyone else is fine, but that Sal…”

Cain trailed off, not finishing his sentence.

He knew Arthur understood.

Arthur smiled slightly at Cain.

“Sal has some flaws, but he promised me he would improve and not repeat his mistakes, so I choose to trust him.”

“Then I have no issue.”

Cain replied.

“Good!”

Arthur nodded: “Since you think there’s no problem, let’s execute this plan. Also, keep an eye on things; we won’t be here much longer, and we need to have this work finalized before we leave.”

“Yes, Commander!”

Cain felt a rush of excitement as he received this important task from Arthur.
