Chapter 102

Chapter 102. The event was still ongoing. (1)

Anyway, Oxianor suddenly transformed from a gentleman eyeball monster into a lady monster.

Because of that, Gryanarr—no, now *she*—tried to continue some sticky and intense biological research with Oxianor, but I stopped it.

Then, using the newly unlocked “Special Biomodification Function,”

I spent an entire month pouring my eeeeffort into strengthening my superhumans.

At the same time, there were quests, quests, and more quests.

Endless quests and grinding, and in the middle of it all, I bought a few destroyers from the event shop.

I also bought a “Kanhel-class Light Cruiser,” which apparently has a name from some myth and boasts decent performance.

It’s been a busy time, to say the least.

And as mentioned earlier, even though I bought a lot of stuff over the past month…

—————————————-

<Favor Points: 871,789 points>

“Huh, I still have a lot left.”

Seeing the surprisingly large amount of points left, I started thinking about rolling the gacha again.

Of course, Jessica, who’s been diligently assisting me, immediately chimed in to stop me.

“Commander, didn’t you say last time that you’d stop messing with causality fixation?”

“Ahem…”

Well, that’s because I had preemptively ordered Jessica to rein me in whenever I lose control and go on a rampage.

Thanks to Jessica’s relentless fact-checking every time my gacha cravings stirred,

my desire to roll the gacha was barely kept in check.

But aside from that, Jessica still had more to say, judging by her expression and gestures.

“Commander, have you really given up on climbing the rankings?”

“Umm…”

In response to Jessica’s question, I nodded calmly and said,

“Didn’t I say it before? I’ve given up on climbing the rankings, at least for now.”

“But Commander, you’ve already saved up nearly 900,000 points while buying all sorts of things from the shop… Isn’t that enough to aim for the rankings?”

Still, Jessica couldn’t let go of her vision of the Commander becoming a top-ranked player.

Or maybe she thought that with nearly 900,000 points right in front of her…

it was worth aiming for the rankings.

She kept subtly bringing up the topic, but…

“…Jessica, I know what you’re thinking.”

“Commander…!”

“But honestly, it’s a bit disappointing… With less than a million points, it’s not even close to enough.”

“Huh?”

Was my statement that shocking?

For a moment, Jessica’s eyes flashed with shock, horror, and confusion,

but it was brief.

Soon, she reacted as if I was joking, looking unconvinced.

So, I decided to show her a post from the gallery I was reading.

“Here’s the proof.”

“Ah, okay.”

Title: Based on reports so far, I’ve made a ranking of the points needed for the leaderboard.txt

Author: Ranking Analyst

Content: [White background image]

Just a heads-up:

This is based on stuff I’ve gathered from the gallery or through chat/mail reports and verifications,

so it might differ from the actual rankings.

Anyway, cutting to the chase, based on what I’ve found so far,

the top ranks, say the top 1000, have at least 1.5 million points.

And that 1.5 million is just the bare minimum.

Someone who messaged me claiming to be in the top 100 had around 3.1 million points.

But even they said they’re definitely not in first place,

and apparently, there’s someone with 5 million points.

So, everyone, be careful.

Comments:

-[What the hell, did they not buy anything from the shop and just saved up?]

-[This is tough, seriously.]

-[How the hell did they save up millions already?]

-[Wow, they’ve already saved that much?]

-[No way, even if the gacha is generous, isn’t it physically impossible to save that much?]

-[Crazy.]

“Ta-da.”

After showing her this insane post, Jessica’s eyes…

It seemed to be shaking much more intensely than before.

“No… does that even make sense? Even so, 3 million, 5 million points…?”

“Yeah, I know, right?”

But honestly, even I found those numbers suspicious.

Just a month and a week ago, the daily average reward points earned by the top users were barely reaching 100,000 at most.

And now, a month and a half after the event started, 5 million?

As the comments on the post pointed out, unless they completely avoided using the shop… it was practically impossible.

But even so, trying to label it as “cheating”… we didn’t have any solid evidence for that.

I placed my hands on Jessica’s slumped shoulders and spoke in a resigned tone.

“At this point, us not even breaking 1 million, fussing over the rankings doesn’t seem to mean much.”

“…You’re probably right, Commander.”

Jessica also seemed to feel that aiming for the rankings at this point… was just forcing it.

She nodded reluctantly, agreeing.

But regardless, Jessica brought up a new question.

“But Commander, what about the gallery management permissions?”

Facing Jessica’s questioning gaze, I shrugged and gave a simple answer.

“Gallery management permissions? Playing moderator?”

“Yes.”

“Do you think I care about moderating the gallery, playing around with permissions?”

“…”

Hearing my words, Jessica immediately stiffened and shook her head.

“No, I don’t think so.”

“Exactly, why would I care about the gallery?”

“…Ah.”

“It’s literally none of my business.”

Other guys might go crazy trying to get gallery management permissions, aka the “moderator badge.”

But I never had any interest in that from the start.

And now that the gap has become so glaringly obvious…

Instead of freaking out trying to rank up, why not just relax, take on quests, and loot the shop?

Thinking that, I pressed the completion button on a quest brought by another pirate captain.

Then I suggested to Jessica that we give up on the rankings and just focus on looting the shop.

Hearing this, Jessica let out a deep sigh but…

“I’ll follow your lead, Commander. Honestly, there doesn’t seem to be any other way.”

“Good, very good.”

Satisfied with her loyalty, I immediately moved on to the next plan.

And that plan was…

—————————————-

… … … … … …

–<Random Causality Fixation Ticket (Superhuman Only) 1 use: 45,000>

… … … … … …

—————————————-

“Alright, shall we try some gacha?”

I poured in the remaining points, expressing my strong will to boost my superhuman forces.

==========

But exactly 5 minutes after that thought…

—————————————-

<Brilliant Resource Box>

<Rare Resource Box x1>

<Common Resource Box x5>

<Event Point Box x3>

—————————————-

As Jessica had warned earlier, despite it being a superhuman-only gacha…

Not a single trace of a superhuman appeared.

Instead, countless resource boxes and, as if mocking me, “Event Point Boxes” (random chance for event point rewards) showed up.

I couldn’t help but let out a bitter laugh as frustration welled up inside me.
