Chapter 14

Chapter 14. How to Live Day by Day (1)

“Quests, they’re piling up.”

After confirming that the Girls’ Talk was underway, I decided to check the progress of my daily quests along with it.

I figured I’d take this opportunity to clear out the backlog of quests that had been accumulating.

And while I was at it, I decided to thoroughly go through the things I hadn’t properly looked at before.

Just as I had that thought…

<Resource Mining 10 times completed!>

“Hmm?”

At the sudden notification, I decided to first check the quest status again.

<Daily Quest Clear List>

<Expedition Resource Mining 1 time>(Cleared)

<Resource Mining 3 times>(Cleared)

<Resource Mining 10 times>(Cleared)

<Ship Construction 1 time>(Cleared)

<Scrapping Old Ships 1 time>

<Base Upgrade 1 time>

<Superhuman Upgrade 1 time>

<Ship Construction Quest Completed!>

“Oh.”

Seeing that another quest had been cleared, I couldn’t help but nod my head in satisfaction.

“Finally, it seems like my time in the sun is coming.”

Of course, in a way, it’s really nothing special, just a routine success.

But compared to how frustrated I was just yesterday, today everything has been going smoothly since morning.

I really felt happy over these little things.

Anyway, with that thought, I made a decision about the base upgrade I had been considering earlier.

“Hmm, I guess it’s better to increase ship production capacity first?”

<Shipyard>(300)<Select

—————————————-

Cursing this damn game for not allowing simultaneous base upgrades, I said, “Yes.”

I immediately decided to rush the construction of the shipyard.

And then, I started to worry about that ‘Superhuman Upgrade’…

“Ah, crap, I forgot all about it.”

It was about the three girls who were busy with the Girls’ Talk.

Well, more accurately, it was about how to level up the other two characters, excluding Ignis.

I had no idea how to do it.

If this damn game allowed us to feed characters so-called experience items like other common games, it would be one thing.

But right now, our base’s warehouse doesn’t have any such items.

Without those, we either have to level up by gaining experience through battles, which is the typical way.

Or, like in Ignis’s case, use some kind of shortcut to grow.

The problem was figuring out how to use that ‘shortcut’ for Pashtira and Belial.

At least their basic attack methods and fighting styles were still vaguely in my memory.

“Hmm… Jessica?”

“Yes, Commander.”

“I’m trying to level up Pashtira and Belial, but I can’t think of a good way. Any ideas?”

“Well… I’ve thought about it too, but honestly, I’m not sure.”

Using them for mineral collection like Ignis was out of the question because their stamina was just too low.

After much deliberation, I finally came up with the simplest solution to this problem.

“Wait, I can just ask the community.”

Thanks to that, I quickly realized something quite ironic.

I unfolded the status window, or rather, the community window, and started writing a post.

Title: Question) Guys, I’m trying to upgrade my superhumans. Any shortcuts for leveling up?

Author: Icarus

Content: [Image of Pashtira and Belial standing together.]

I managed to pull these two characters, but I have no idea how to level them up.

Seriously, urgent.

How can I make them famous for being well-leveled?

—————————————

“Hmm, is this good enough?”

At first, I tried to write as politely as possible, even using honorifics, but after seeing someone get flamed for using honorifics, I decided to keep it respectful but dropped the honorifics.

“Newbie otakus, help me out.”

Of course, as soon as I posted it, I expected some reactions…

So, I didn’t really think much of it.

After posting my question, I folded the Community Window again, figuring I’d make use of Pashtira and Belial.

I decided to open the ‘equipment’ boxes that popped out from the 10-pull and equip whatever was inside.

Oh, of course, before starting that task.

“Jessica, remind me to check the community in 30 minutes.”

“Yes, Commander.”

After assigning Jessica, my adjutant, as my alarm, I finally started the task.

But no matter how lucky I got, the best I could hope for was a ‘unique equipment box.’

“Hmm.”

“This is quite a compact item, Commander.”

“Sorry, it’s the best I can do for now.”

“Since it’s a gift from you, Commander, the thought counts more than the performance… Hehe♡.”

“That’s right, Commander, you don’t need to worry too much.”

Compared to what I remembered from three years ago, it was embarrassingly modest.

I couldn’t help but feel a pang of sadness.

==========

Anyway, while I was busy matching equipment and accessories, and simultaneously pushing my base defense fleet from a 6-ship to a 7-ship system with all my might…

“Commander, Commander.”

“Yes?”

“The 30 minutes you mentioned just passed.”

“Ah, time flies.”

Feeling that time had passed quicker than expected, I instructed Jessica to finish setting up their equipment.

Then, I headed straight to my dedicated seat in the command center, humming a tune as I opened the ‘Community Window.’

With over 30 minutes passed, I figured there’d be at least a few comments.

But…

—————————————

–<Question) Guys, I'm trying to upgrade my superhumans, any shortcuts for growth?>(Comments: 1)

—————————————

‘What the heck is this?’

The fact that only one comment was posted in over 30 minutes left me momentarily stunned.

‘Well… maybe that one comment is so insightful that no one else felt the need to add anything.’

It wouldn’t be the first time something like that happened.

Holding onto that hope, I opened the post to check the comment…

-[Idk?]

‘Oh, for crying out loud.’

Nonsense.

As evident from my rambling excuses, all I got back was useless chatter.

‘What was I even expecting?’

Logically, only one comment in over 30 minutes meant my post was buried.

Facing this harsh reality, I fell into a brief, agonizing silence.

Then, after a while…

‘…You guys started this.’

Fueled by anger directed at who-knows-who, I began crafting another post on the community, this time with all politeness thrown into a black hole.

Title: Are Pashtira and Belial just trash-tier characters?

Author: Icarus

Content: [Full body of Pashtira], [Full body of Belial]

One’s a glass cannon with only good magic, only useful as a sex doll.

The other’s mid-range and awkward as hell.

Aren’t they all just mediocre for this meta?

How am I supposed to raise these? Are they just trash?

—————————————-

‘Perfect.’

It was the kind of post that was sure to stir up some serious aggro.

And it seemed my instincts were right because, within less than a minute of posting…

-Ding ding ding ding ding ding

Through the ‘comment notification’ feature I checked in the Status Window, I watched the comments flood in real-time.

Feeling thoroughly satisfied, I decided to check the comments again.
