Chapter 18: Iis’s Performance
“Your Majesty, I believe the Magic Wolves won’t attack us again from now on.”
“Do you have any reason to think that?”
As soon as Iis finished speaking, Airael looked at him and asked.
Iis suddenly felt the pressure.
“The Magic Wolves are cunning, but their cunning makes them very wary of danger. They’ve failed to attack us twice, and they lost many of their kind in the second attack. Therefore, they will definitely feel apprehensive towards us.
Taking all of this into consideration, they will redirect their attention to easier prey elsewhere.”
Hela looked at Iis in surprise.
She didn’t expect him to speak so convincingly; she had underestimated him earlier.
Airael nodded, feeling that Iis made a lot of sense.
So she said, “It’s best if those Magic Wolves don’t attack us anymore. Now that everyone has gone through a tough battle, let’s all take a good rest.”
“Thank you for your understanding, Your Majesty, but I think we should remain on high alert. In the wild, our enemies aren’t just the Magic Wolves.
The battle we just fought might have attracted their attention, and they could be lurking in the shadows, watching us.”
Iis’s serious reminder sent chills down Airael’s spine.
This magical world’s wilderness is truly dangerous!
Airael looked at Iis and said, “In that case, I’ll leave everything in your hands.”
Everyone has their own expertise, and she knew nothing about such matters.
When the enemies came, she just needed to use her magic to help fight them off.
After speaking, Airael suddenly felt a wave of sleepiness wash over her.
She hadn’t slept well last night, and after casting a high-level spell earlier—even though the Staff of Eternity helped her manage the strain—Airael was still just a child at heart. After the tense battle, now that she could relax, the drowsiness was truly unstoppable.
“Ahh—!”
Airael let out an ungraceful yawn, sounding like a small animal just learning how to make noise.
“I’m so sleepy, I’m going to bed.”
Having said that, Airael picked up her staff and trudged toward her private tent with drowsy steps.
Witnessing Her Majesty’s behavior, Iis was momentarily at a loss for how to respond to her earlier command.
This was no Queen; she was plainly an adorable little girl, so cute one couldn’t help but want to hold her close and shower her with affection!
Hela looked at Airael and thought she was very cute as well, but this wasn’t the kind of Queen she envisioned.
It seemed that training Her Majesty still had a long way to go!
Hela couldn’t help but sigh internally.
As for Airael’s earlier unrefined behavior, Hela didn’t stop her to give a lecture.
She could still differentiate between urgent matters and less important ones.
The Queen was truly exhausted and needed a good rest.
After watching Airael enter her tent, Hela turned her focus to Iis and said, “Captain Iis, it’s all up to you now.”
“That’s what I should be doing.”
Iis politely replied.
This made Hela’s impression of him improve quite a bit.
She didn’t add any further instructions.
She wasn’t very knowledgeable about this either.
Iis then began to get busy, arranging for the wounded and setting up protective magic arrays around them.
Fortunately, no new enemies appeared during the latter half of the night, calming their fears.
Airael had a good sleep and woke up feeling refreshed the next day.
After a simple breakfast, the group set off on their journey again.
Although they had defeated the Magic Wolves last night, their marching speed didn’t increase.
That was Hela’s idea.
Everything should be approached cautiously.
They needed to scout complex areas before proceeding further.
They absolutely couldn’t let a surprise attack like yesterday afternoon happen again.
This also took care of the wounded.
Sitting atop a Unicorn, Airael couldn’t help but glance at the injured.
They had been hurt protecting her.
She had been too sleepy yesterday and forgot this crucial point.
“Your Majesty, you don’t need to worry about them; they received medical treatment last night, and both Celia and Aurora used healing magic on them. For now, as long as they avoid strenuous activities, they should be fine,” Hela spoke up, noting Airael’s gaze.
Airael felt a sigh of relief in her heart.
It was good that they had received proper treatment.
However, Hela’s next comment made Airael quite curious: “Celia, you and Aurora can both use healing magic?”
Airael asked.
“Yes, Your Majesty.”
“But isn’t healing magic usually only taught to those in the Life Temple among our Elven race?”
As soon as she said that, Airael realized how silly her question was.
Celia and Aurora were handmaidens and bodyguards assigned by Linis, so it made sense for them to have some ties to the Life Temple.
Celia explained nonchalantly, “Your Majesty, before being assigned by the Grand Priestess to take care of you, Aurora and I were both Guardian Knights of the Life Temple.”
Airael nodded in understanding, not probing further or pondering on it too much.
It was nice to have two elves like them around.
At least if she got injured, she would receive effective and professional treatment.
Moreover, they could protect her and take care of her daily needs.
After spending some time with them, Airael was quite satisfied with their performance.
Shifting her focus from them, Airael started to think about other issues.
Such as the matter of the Staff of Eternity.
Though the Staff of Eternity could significantly enhance her abilities, Airael still kept Domiya’s advice in mind.
At this stage, it was best not to rely too heavily on the Staff, lest she become dependent on it and neglect her own training.
After all, a staff was merely an auxiliary tool; everything needed to be led by the caster themselves.
Furthermore, Airael was also considering the multi-system cooperative development of the Elven race in terms of combat prowess.
Whether it was the Royal Palace Guards or her two close handmaidens, all displayed powers from two systems.
The Royal Palace Guards were both warriors and mages.
Her two handmaidens were knights but could also use healing magic.
Thus, Airael pondered if she should learn something besides magic, like becoming both a mage and a warrior, just like the Royal Palace Guards.
