Chapter 57: Parting
“Ailia, is there something up?”
Sure enough, Arthur immediately responded.
Airael flipped over and pinned Arthur down.
The sudden turn of events caught Arthur off guard as he looked at Airael on top of him.
“You’re pressing me too hard; I can’t sleep properly!” Airael pouted, looking quite irritated.
“Sorry!”
Arthur smiled bitterly.
“I’ll just sleep somewhere else.”
With that, Arthur began to get up.
Though reluctant, it seemed there was no other option at that moment.
However, Airael stretched out her hands to hold him down, preventing him from rising.
Arthur looked at Airael in surprise.
“You don’t need to sleep somewhere else.”
Airael lowered her head.
“I know it’s not easy for you to hold back.”
Arthur listened to Airael’s words, feeling even more confused.
So, what do we do now?
If I can’t sleep elsewhere, how can I control myself?
This is a biological response!
Besides, if I didn’t have such a response to you, that would be a disaster for both of us!
“Even though it’s still inconvenient for me today, I can help you with other means if you want.”
Unaware of what Arthur was really thinking, Airael suggested her solution.
“What means?”
Arthur became interested.
This was good news for him.
“Why are you asking so much? Just know that I can help you solve the problem.”
With that, Airael began to take action.
……
The next morning, Arthur woke up feeling refreshed.
He glanced to the side, where Airael was still sound asleep, facing him.
She was sleeping so soundly that she didn’t even notice when Arthur got up.
Arthur was careful to not disturb Airael as he moved.
But as soon as he left, Airael opened her eyes.
Her face was beet red.
Although she was the one who took the initiative last night, it seems they might have gotten a bit carried away.
Then Airael wore a wry smile.
Now that it’s done, could she turn back time?
Moreover, afterward, they both had indeed slept well.
Thinking about it made Airael feel a lot better.
She had already decided to have their child; no need to get tangled up in these thoughts.
After all, her body was already Arthur’s.
As for her heart, it was probably something she couldn’t give him anymore.
Sorry, Arthur!
Airael closed her eyes.
Although she was happy to be with Arthur and felt a sense of home that filled her rather empty heart, she had her own mission and tasks in this world, which she had been striving for a long time, and she didn’t want to abandon it halfway.
When she opened her eyes again, Airael had shed her previous emotions, her gaze was clear, as if she had become a completely different person.
When Celia and Aurora arrived, they found Airael bent over a desk writing something.
Celia and Aurora chose not to disturb her and just stood by her side.
Time slowly passed. Throughout the day, except for the necessary physiological needs, like eating and doing her business, Airael remained seated, writing away, occasionally stopping to frown in deep thought.
This piqued Celia’s curiosity.
By evening, she finally couldn’t help but ask, “Miss, you’ve been writing all day. What is it you’re writing?”
“Just some personal thoughts.”
“Truly impressive, Miss! You have so many thoughts swirling in your head.”
Celia chuckled.
“Ha—!”
Airael smiled lightly in response, saying nothing.
These ideas didn’t belong solely to her.
But that didn’t stop her from borrowing it; after all, no one in this world would charge her a royalty for it.
When Arthur returned that night, Airael had already put everything away and looked quite bored.
Seeing Airael’s bored expression, Arthur asked, “Ailia, is there anything you want to do?”
“Nothing much. I think it’s nice just to stay here every day.”
Airael shook her head in reply.
“Oh! If you want to go out for a bit, it’s not impossible, but you must take enough people with you. Don’t try to go out alone like last time and do such dangerous things.”
“Don’t worry. Last time Celia and Aurora weren’t by my side. Otherwise, with their personalities, they would definitely have followed me closely.”
Arthur thought for a moment; that made sense.
Celia and Aurora were sent as guards to protect her.
“Also, you have to keep your word from earlier. If I want to go out, you can’t stop me.”
“Don’t worry! As long as you promise not to do anything dangerous and prioritize your safety, I won’t restrict you.”
With Arthur’s assurance, Airael’s face lit up with joy.
Seeing Airael so happy, Arthur couldn’t help but smile.
Little did he know, he was making it easier for Airael to leave.
Three days later, when Arthur returned after finishing his daily tasks, the tent was empty, and Airael was nowhere to be seen.
Arthur was surprised, thinking Airael must be out having fun and hadn’t returned yet.
Until he noticed a stack of papers on a small table.
He walked over.
On the first page, bold letters read: “Arthur, when you see this letter, I will have already left. Yes, I’m leaving. Being with you was an accident, but I gained so much during this time, including something that’s definitely the most precious gift of my life. Thank you for giving me this.”
“But I have to leave you now because I have my own mission and tasks to fulfill. I know this is selfish of me and disregards your feelings. I’m even too scared to tell you face to face, so I had to leave a letter. If you blame me for this, I can only say I’m sorry!”
“Also, don’t think about looking for me. If you want to see me again, just focus on what you’re doing now.
“Then maybe we can meet again.”
“Don’t worry!”
Note: Below this letter are some of my thoughts that might help you in the future.
After reading the letter, Arthur was left momentarily stunned.
He felt as if his heart had been emptied, like he had lost something.
He hadn’t expected Airael to leave so abruptly, without any warning whatsoever.
If he had known, he absolutely wouldn’t have allowed Airael to leave him.
Though Airael left him something, it wasn’t what Arthur wanted.
In a small town a thousand miles away.
Airael stood by the hotel window, gazing at the moon in the sky.
Today happened to be a full moon.
Looking at the full moon, Airael imagined Arthur seeing the letter she left behind.
“I’m sorry, Arthur!”
Airael sighed and left the window, lying down on the bed.
