Chapter 796: Azure Reflections
Inside the starship, the liquid was clear and transparent, transforming into dazzling and realistic colors, conveying past information like a movie. The shimmering light reflected on the young lady’s face, displaying undulating ripples and light patterns.
In this endless deep sea, Lolan Hill observed the development process of another human faction from years past.
The ‘Deep Sea Alliance’ and the ‘Mechanical Parliament’ took completely different paths. Most of them lived dispersedly, with each faction centered around a starship as a unit. They would only meet and exchange information and skills with their kind after hundreds of years.
These solitary whaleships were like bees; when the population grew large enough, they would split off to form new starships.
Each starship had a population ranging from several hundred to thousands, but never exceeding two thousand people. Unlike the complex social relationships in human society, their relationships were simple and close-knit. Almost everyone could call out the names of every companion on the starship, living together harmoniously with few conflicts.
Moreover, if there were differing views that clashed, both sides wouldn’t argue but instead create a new starship to separate from each other.
This vast expanse of space was wide enough to accommodate all different voices and rhythms.
To them, freedom was so charming and adorable that compromising for others was unnecessary and unappealing.
Without these conflicts and compromises, they could spend more time doing what they loved, such as rhythm and music.
During their long journey through the starry river, this human faction became increasingly fond of music, which became a required course and project for every member, akin to language and writing in the past.
They conveyed their joys, sorrows, thoughts, admiration, likes, regrets, and more through sounds and melodies. Compared to monotonous words, sounds often conveyed more complex and varied genuine emotions. Therefore, this faction developed more understanding, warmth, and mutual dependence, with fewer conflicts.
Compared to the extreme ‘Mechanical Parliament,’ the ‘Deep Sea Alliance’ was more harmonious and humane, and they often spent their lives happily and simply.
“When I first opened my eyes, those around me were my kin and elders, celebrating for me.
When I last closed my eyes, those beside me were my family, friends, and companions, mourning for me.
I will never worry about being alone, even in this silent and quiet starry river.
Perhaps this plain and simple life is happiness.”
Maybe in terms of strength and technological advancement speed, the ‘Deep Sea Alliance’ lagged far behind the ‘Mechanical Parliament.’ It took them nearly ten thousand years to catch up to the latter’s peak era.
But time eventually rewarded them. This faction of nomadic humans slowly surpassed all others. With their more powerful interstellar navigation skills, they gradually broke free from the constraints of the Milky Way, heading toward another shore of the starry river.
After watching these time reflections for a long time, Lolan Hill slowly came back to her senses from the immersive experience.
Truly remarkable.
She slowly closed her eyes, calming her tumultuous emotions, before reopening them.
Although the ancient human pioneers had different aspirations, none of them could be considered failures; they truly walked extraordinary paths on their respective journeys.
Although the ‘Primordial Heart’ was defeated by the ‘Mechanical Parliament’ in its early years, the Mechanical Parliament eventually had to adopt its ideas and methods, making it hard to say who ultimately succeeded.
Similarly, the ‘Tree of Life Sect’ also saw that after the great disaster, ancient humans had no choice but to pick up their fleshly bodies again and explore the diversity of individual existence forms to face this complex and changing world.
Although the ‘Traceback Cloud’ did not develop its own direction, they faithfully recorded everything, allowing history and heritage to continue. As long as later intelligent beings learned and used this knowledge and skills, influenced by their culture, wasn’t this a rebirth of that civilization?
Lolan Hill returned to her senses and looked around the interior of the starship once more. The space she was in should be the entrance hall, previously used for entering and exiting small shuttlecrafts.
In this spacious hall, roughly the size of twenty football fields, a few small shuttlecrafts were currently parked. They were brightly colored, resembling kingfishers, small yet beautiful.
Unfortunately, she couldn’t use them for now. Not because they were broken or lacked energy, but because operating these shuttlecrafts required neural connection, direct control via neural intent.
Though this method was more efficient and faster, Lolan Hill was not a mermaid from the ‘Deep Sea Alliance’; learning this would take her considerable time, and she couldn’t transport numerous passengers on board.
Aside from that, there were the entrances to various compartments throughout the hall, connected by passages.
Following the instructions on the light screen, the young lady swam in one direction. That direction led to the entire starship’s command room.
As she slowly approached, doors slid open to either side, allowing the young lady to pass through. Unlike the dark ocean outside, the passages here were well-lit, wide enough for multiple trains to pass side by side.
After swimming through several passages, a huge and sacred door appeared before the young lady. It was entirely white, adorned with blue and gold wave patterns, with a translucent blue crystal embedded in the center.
This crystal emitted a familiar and nostalgic aura, which was precisely Sifnaylen’s relic.
With a mix of anticipation and nervousness, the young lady slowly placed her hand on this crystal, about the size of a person.
A melody that made her nerves dance lightly and comfortably emanated from the crystal.
Listening to the soothing melody, Lolan Hill hummed along, the air in her lungs slightly trembling, the tune echoing in her mind.
Then, the patterns on the door lit up one by one, slowly dispersing.
This gate seemed to be constructed from countless blocks stacked together, falling along the undulating curves and retreating backward. The command hall, complete with various light screens displaying the starship’s status, was fully revealed before the young lady.
The crystal also retreated into the inner space, becoming the central gem of the command hall.
When Lolan Hill opened her eyes again, she saw a young girl with light blue hair gazing back at her from within the crystal. Although she knew this was merely a past reflection, Lolan Hill still spoke, “Long time no see, Sifnaylen. I’m back.”
The girl in the crystal blinked and smiled, then transmitted the pre-recorded message.
“Welcome back.”
