Chapter 52: Capture Alive
Under the relentless attacks, her Magic Power Shield was on the verge of collapsing.
The blood energy from the Blood Spear was constantly invading the Magic Power Shield, wreaking havoc on its structure.
This made it difficult for Airael to recharge the shield.
Faced with the bizarre Blood Spear, Airael decided to abandon the Magic Power Shield and swiftly retreated.
After she left, the Magic Power Shield didn’t hold for long before being shattered by the Blood Spear.
Then came a loud bang as the Blood Spear struck the spot where she had just been standing, sending up a cloud of dust.
While it seemed she had narrowly avoided being hit, the old vampire had successfully pushed Airael back.
The confidence of the other four vampires surged once again.
The old man glanced at them without saying a word.
Amidst the dust cloud, Airael pondered her countermeasures.
The old vampire was clearly a tough opponent.
His magic could even disrupt hers.
This was something Airael had never encountered before; it was a real eye-opener.
As the dust settled, the old man looked at Airael and said, “Your tricks don’t seem all that impressive?”
“Hmph! No matter how bizarre your methods are, I’m still standing here just fine,” Airael retorted defiantly.
At the same time, she was preparing her magic.
“Next, take this!”
As her words fell, Airael unleashed a swift strike, casting her prepared magic at the old man.
A bolt of lightning shot from her hand, flying quickly toward him.
The old man raised a Blood Barrier in front of himself, and the lightning struck it, causing the blood energy to boil.
“It’s not over yet!”
With those words, Airael cast several more bolts of lightning, but they were all blocked by the Blood Barrier.
The old man behind the Blood Barrier wore a relaxed smile, seemingly unfazed.
Just then, Airael secretly grinned.
A different Golden Magic Circle appeared beneath her feet.
A lightning spear materialized in her hand.
Although this spear wasn’t made from nature’s lightning, its power was still formidable.
Airael aimed the spear at the old man and threw it.
The old man stood his ground, continuing to use the Blood Barrier to fend off Airael’s attack.
At the moment the lightning spear made contact with the Blood Barrier, the old man’s expression drastically changed, turning even paler.
Compared to the previous bolts Airael casually hurled, the lightning spear possessed far greater piercing power.
At this moment, whatever the old man tried was futile.
After taking a moment to break through the Blood Barrier, the lightning spear exploded.
Dust and debris flew everywhere, obscuring what was happening inside.
Airael fixed her gaze unblinkingly on the scene, keeping a wary eye on the four vampires nearby.
While she was engaged with this old geezer, those four could indeed pose a threat if they got involved.
Thinking this way, Airael decided she should first deal with the four before fully focusing on the old man.
With that thought in mind, she set her sights on the woman whose arm she had previously severed.
As electricity crackled around her, she quickly moved in front of the woman again.
With no mercy, she thrust her sword toward the woman’s heart.
Sensing the danger, the woman dodged.
However, Airael’s attack didn’t stop with just one strike.
If the first sword missed, there would be a second strike, and after the second, a third…
The woman, left with no means to counterattack, could only frantically evade.
After several strikes, she bore more wounds and her breath was growing ragged.
Airael pressed her advantage, vowing not to give up until she succeeded.
Just as she was about to land a decisive blow, the Blood Barrier appeared again, blocking her strike for the woman.
The woman seized this chance to escape Airael’s clutches.
Airael turned to face the old man.
At this point, the dust had cleared, revealing the old man charred and battered.
Of course, Airael felt no sympathy for him; instead, she complained, “You old coot, you’re a real pain! This is the second time already.”
“Hehe! I won’t just stop you from getting a second go; I’ll prevent a third, fourth, and fifth as well.”
The old man’s words touched the hearts of the four vampires.
“Then I’ll include all of you in this! Let’s see who you save, or if you even care about yourselves,” Airael remarked with a sly smile.
With the Golden Magic Circle operating, five lightning spears appeared around Airael.
Seeing five incoming attacks, the old man’s pupils constricted.
However, he quickly noticed that while they looked similar on the surface, their power was greatly diminished compared to the last one.
The sheer number made them troublesome, though.
“Get ready, hide behind me when the time comes,” he instructed the four vampires.
“Yes, my lord!” they replied in unison, overjoyed.
His words were like the opening of heaven’s gates to them.
With an old man protecting them, they no longer needed to worry about their safety.
“Go!”
At Airael’s command, the five lightning spears shot toward them.
The four vampire comrades hastily ducked behind the old man, who raised a Sphere Shield to protect them.
Four spears missed entirely, and the one that struck did not breach the old man’s defenses.
“Did you think hiding there makes you safe?” Airael continued her incantation.
Suddenly, magic circles began to materialize around them.
The Golden Magic Circle encapsulated them.
“Old man, I have to thank you for this; it just makes it easy to catch you all,” Airael declared, her confidence shining through.
Even though the five didn’t know what exact magic Airael was conjuring, their hearts sank.
Airael appeared entirely confident, not like someone trying to deceive them.
In the next moment, golden chains emerged from within the magic circle.
The five immediately felt their power suppressed.
They gasped in shock, never expecting Airael had this kind of magic.
“Break out!” the old man commanded.
Staying here would only lead to being ensnared by the golden chains.
If that was the case, it would be better to make plans and break out before the enemy’s magic took shape.
Upon receiving the order, the four vampires, together with the old man, charged outward.
As they made their move, the golden chains accelerated.
Just as they were about to burst through, the chains blocked their way.
With the chains pressing in from front and behind, their space grew smaller, and soon they found themselves back inside the old man’s Sphere Shield.
The golden chains surrounded the shield in a complete circle, trapping the five of them thoroughly.
Outside, Airael watched this unfolding scene with a smile on her face.
Admittedly, this magic was truly useful.
It was simply the ultimate tool for capturing people.
