Chapter 419: Each Returns Home
“Are you leaving already?”
“Yeah, see you next semester, Sister Lan!”
Yeling waved goodbye to Lolan Hill who stood below the steps. Standing beside her were Bumansa and Lily. They were all inside the ‘Divine Wing Nest’ on the Polychrome Island at this moment.
The ‘Divine Wing Nest’ was a unique facility of the Early Strawberry Kingdom, functioning similarly to an airport in Lolan Hill’s memory. However, the aircraft here were extraordinary birds. Although they could carry fewer passengers, they were powerful, agile, and swift.
The mages of the Early Strawberry Parliament had excavated a spacious area within this hill. Inside, there were several compartments filled with dry, fluffy straw. This was where the Great-winged Falcons nested.
Since Polychrome Island wasn’t a core location, there weren’t any Divine Wing birds here. Only a few slightly inferior Great-winged Falcons were present. Nonetheless, these falcons could still reach a speed of 800 kilometers per hour, far surpassing various ships and airships.
“Be careful on your journey, see you next semester,” Lolan Hill waved back, watching Yeling, Bumansa, and Lily climb onto the saddle seats on the backs of the Great-winged Falcons. There were six seats in total; four for passengers and two for the pilot and safety officer.
The pilot needed to be at least Sequence 3, and the safety officer at least Sequence 4. The Great-winged Falcon they were riding was the Primordial Sequence 5, Gray-plumed Great-winged Falcon.
After securing their seatbelts, the three waved goodbye to the six people below. Then, the pilot in front issued an order, and the Great-winged Falcon leaped off the high platform, diving towards the vast sea. The airflow stirred up waves, and then the large bird ascended rapidly into the sky, becoming a tiny dot against the azure horizon.
The few people below watched the Great-winged Falcon depart and then walked down the mountain path back to their dwellings.
“I’m boarding my airship this afternoon too. Lan, aren’t you coming with us?” Letis said to Lolan Hill.
Letis had booked airship tickets for Nia and herself, planning to return to Yubaire today and then go back to their respective hometowns.
“Thank you, but I have other things to do,” Lolan Hill shook her head.
“Alright, then we’ll see you next semester.”
After a short gathering over lunch, the group dispersed.
Letis and Nia also bid farewell and left, and Alena was returning to her home island as well. After repeatedly telling them not to trouble Alena in finding a ship, only Vimya, Lolan Hill, and Keti remained.
At the seaside, Vimya stood in shallow water, the transparent waves barely reaching her ankles, her light blue hair swaying behind her.
“Lolan is taking Keti back,” Vimya looked at Keti, who was drowsily standing next to Lolan Hill.
“Mm, Keti is still quite weak in her current state. Moreover, she used her abilities intensely during the great upheaval recently, so now the aftereffects are gradually showing. She needs a lot of rest. Yesterday, I contacted Chris, and she said she could send Keti back to Emanas for recuperation, and she and the Night Mistress would help adjust her condition.”
“That’s good.” Vimya nodded, then thought for a moment and added,
“Among the witches, Chris and the Night Mistress have quite a good reputation. Although they might seem a bit… well, not very mature, their personalities aren’t bad. Other witches, however, tend to deviate from normal human emotions the longer they live. If you encounter them, you should be careful.”
After saying this, Vimya waved at Lolan and slowly sank into the sea, as a sea witch, her speed in water far surpasses that of all other creatures.
“Well then, we should go too, Keti.”
Lolan Hill helped Keti back into the small house and then took out a magic mirror from a ring, gently tapping it.
The mercury surface of the mirror rippled, and a girl dressed in a pink and white princess gown leaped out, gently hugging Lolan Hill.
“Long time no see, little Lolan~” Chris curiously looked around the surroundings.
“You guys are on vacation in the South, how nice~”
“Not really,” Lolan Hill hesitated slightly when hugged suddenly, but didn’t push away this mirror witch with a youthful vibe.
“Haha, must have been tiring taking care of Keti these past days,” Chris released the girl and walked to the bed, looking at the sleeping Keti and lightly poking her.
“No,” the girl shook her head, and the hair and butterfly clip behind her swayed gently.
“Keti is very obedient.”
“Hehe, that’s only because of you. Actually, when Keti first woke up, she was very wary. The Night Mistress and I spent a long time helping her accept it. This child had a hard time after being reborn and locked in the icy palace of Thiva in the Arctic.”
“Is Te Hua very bad?” Lolan tilted her head and asked.
“Well, how should I put it? Actually, Te Hua is quite good, but she feels resentful because her efforts over the past century were destroyed by the previous Ceti,” Chris said.
“You know, witches who live long usually have their own small obsessions, just to varying degrees. The conflict between Te Hua and Ceti stems from this. But Ceti is also a notorious troublemaker; almost every generation has someone she offends, making her quite unique among witches.”
“But thankfully, sometimes she realizes that continuing like this isn’t right. So, after a certain point, she will reset herself and start anew. In this way, as long as it’s not a major mistake, other witches won’t pursue it further. Additionally, Ceti after rebirth can sometimes be quite silly and rather endearing. It would be nice if she could stay like this forever.”
“Oh no, I’ve said so much about Ceti’s shortcomings. I hope she didn’t hear any of it. Hehe.” Chris covered her mouth and laughed.
“In fact, I was born in the same era as Ceti, and our ages aren’t too different.”
“So what was the first-generation Ceti like?” Lolan asked curiously.
“The first-generation? My first impression of Ceti back then was pride, but she could also be quite shy at times. I remember she always did better academically than me, but when she reached Sequence 7, she struggled for a while, which allowed me to surpass her later. That’s when she awkwardly came to me for help.”
“Fearing rejection and losing face, she specifically chose a night when no one else was around and cornered me in an alley, hehe.” Chris reminisced.
“Pity that back then, I was also advancing haphazardly and couldn’t offer much assistance. In the end, it was Hattie who helped us understand everything.”
“Oh, let’s not talk about this anymore. Ceti is waking up.”
Ceti seemed to wake up due to Chris’ voice. She rubbed her eyes and slowly got up, looking at the two people in the room.
“Ceti?”
“Mm, Ceti woke up? I came to take you home. It’s been troublesome for Lolan for so long, and she deserves a break.”
After hearing this, Ceti turned her gaze towards Lolan, feeling a bit reluctant but not making a fuss. Instead, she nodded slightly.
“I understand.”
“Then, see you later, Lolan.” Chris took Ceti’s hand and bid farewell to Lolan, before stepping into the mercury mirror.
