Chapter 402 Triton’s Grand Plan
“Oh no~”
Early in the morning, Alena shouted at the dining table, clearly encountering a significant problem.
“My father can’t make it; he said he has to fight with some pirate leader recently and can’t spare the time, so he told me to figure it out myself,” Alena said disappointedly.
“Hehe, that’s the case. Looks like we’ll have to take the airship then,” Letis said with a fan in hand, somewhat gleeful about the situation.
“The airship will probably still take quite some time,” Alena said lying on the table like a dead fish, looking at everyone.
Due to the disdain of the Juyue Council and Rourna, there were few flights heading to the Southern Isles, with only one trip per month.
“Let’s look for other ships,” Bumansa said after taking a sip of tea. To them, time wasn’t pressing.
—
On the seaside alleyway.
“I didn’t expect the bedsheet from yesterday’s blanket to be worth more money. I really hit the jackpot,” Triton murmured to himself, patting his money bag.
That smooth bedsheet was said to be made in the distant Eastern Region, entirely of silk, embroidered with flowers and birds, exquisite beyond compare. After selling it, this chubby boy made a fortune.
Bedsheets were more private items than jewelry, easier to sell. Jewelry could be recognized, making people uncomfortable mentioning their origin, but bedsheets placed in bedrooms were unseen by most except close relatives, less likely to be discovered by outsiders.
After selling, there wouldn’t be any follow-up problems, so that special shop gave him a higher price.
With this money, he could finally pull off something big. Triton thought to himself, starting to refine his long-planned scheme.
He had worked as a doorman and waiter at a hotel for nearly seven years, seeing many wealthy individuals rise to fame. Over these years, he gradually summed up some experiences.
Like Sister Sulys who rigidly worked for others, she might only achieve a modest life. If one wanted to become a great person, they must find a highly profitable business at some point.
He didn’t want to live a humble life, serving as a lowly servant in a hotel. Although life seemed good, the disparity in status and mentality accumulated much resentment. He wanted to rise above and enjoy such success himself.
Well, let’s give it a try.
Though the plan still had many issues, he decided to go for it. Sometimes, no matter how long a plan is, it’s better to just dive in, even if it comes with huge risks.
Pushing open the courtyard gate, Triton walked in.
Aren hadn’t returned yet, probably helping someone with cargo again. Sigh, my good brother is being underutilized. He shook his head and pondered.
Aren used to be a driver for the Filyra Chamber of Commerce, handsome and skilled. He usually drove for nobles. Unfortunately, after the collapse of the Chamber, he was forced to leave his position and now can only haul goods for a living.
The two had known each other before, and after the chaos two years ago, they supported each other and became good friends despite their different personalities.
I can’t do this alone; I need to bring Sister Sulys and Aren to help me. He sat on the bench in the courtyard, basking in the sun, thinking about how to convince these two ‘good people.’
As he thought, a little girl slowly came out of the house and covered Triton’s eyes.
“Guess who I am?” Her voice was innocent and clear.
“Luna,” Triton answered naturally.
“Correct.” The little hand opened, revealing a cute face.
Triton looked at the young lady in front of him and suddenly had an idea.
In the evening, when Sulys and Aren returned, several people gathered around the dining table for a meal.
“Cough cough.” Triton cleared his throat slightly, drawing everyone’s attention.
“I’ve thought of a way to make money recently.”
“Tell us,” Sulys glanced at the chubby boy and continued eating black bread.
“I heard that the ‘Great Eastern’ is coming soon. We can go up and find some opportunities.”
“That cruise ship where officials and nobles gather? But how do we get on board, and what can we do once we’re there?” Sulys knew about this famous cruise ship.
“Well, I’ve already planned it,” Triton wiped his hands clean and took out a few sheets of paper stamped from a small box beside him.
The thick white paper had intricate patterns at the edges, with a few lines and explanations in the center.
“Dusk Troupe? How did you get this?” Sulys immediately guessed Triton’s intentions upon seeing the words.
These papers were the proof documents of the Dusk Troupe opera troupe. Triton either forged them or obtained them somehow, and his purpose was simple: impersonate the Dusk Troupe and make a fortune on the ‘Great Eastern.’
“A few years ago, I served them once. When tidying up their rooms, I naturally found one they left behind and then replicated the entire set based on that.”
“Besides, due to serving them, I’m quite familiar with their performance process, so it won’t be hard to impersonate them.”
“Not hard? What dream are you dreaming of, Triton?” Sulys touched the chubby boy’s forehead to check if he was crazy.
“Firstly, we don’t have enough people, secondly, we don’t have such high skills, and lastly, how do you know if anyone on the cruise ship has seen the real Dusk Troupe?”
“All these can be solved,” Triton turned his attention to Aren and Luna.
“We only need five to six people because we’re just a branch of the Dusk Troupe. Besides, performances at sea don’t require a large stage; they mainly involve singing and simple operas.”
“Sulys and Aren look good, and with some makeup, they can change their aura.”
“But it’s not enough. I sing generally, and for opera, two people aren’t enough; at least three are needed,” Sulys quickly shook her head.
“This can be solved by finding more people. It can always be fixed, cough cough,” Triton looked at the three people beside the table.
“Don’t worry about our skills and recognition. Most passengers on the ‘Great Eastern’ come from Cui Cui. Nobles there haven’t seen the Dusk Troupe for many years, so it’s normal for them not to recognize new faces.”
“But the problem is, they won’t believe us easily, right?” Aren finally spoke up.
“The risk is too high. Once exposed, we could end up in prison and be sent to work in the mines,” Aren said.
“No, no, no. You don’t understand how the rich think,” Triton began.
“I’ve seen those wealthy merchants and nobles. They may not truly understand art but follow the trend. Many say it’s refined and dignified, so they follow suit. As long as we provide a decent performance, no one will scrutinize the details.”
“Because watching opera and singing is just a form of entertainment for them, they won’t take it too seriously. In a couple of days, they’ll forget. But even this kind of entertainment, the money leaking from the nobles’ pockets is enough for us to live on for a lifetime.”
“Really, once we succeed, we can earn decades of hard work’ worth of money. It’s worth it.”
Seeing Sulys about to refute, Triton added another sentence.
“Luna is growing up fast. Don’t you also want her to receive a good education and not suffer with us in the future?” After saying this, the other two fell silent.
