Chapter 350

Chapter 350: Entrustment and Farewell

In the bright courtyard, Karys led Lolan Hill to meet these historical witches. Some were innocent, some charming, some aloof, and some kind-hearted. Despite their varied personalities, they generally got along well and would usually not refuse to help each other when needed.

“Ragtidis, this is for you.” Selene handed over a pink heart-shaped gemstone.

“Thank you, Sister Selene,” Lolan Hill sincerely thanked her, even though it was just a memory.

“Are you happy, Ragtidis? This is something you’ve been longing for,” Karys said beside her.

“I am happy.” Although she didn’t know why she was happy, Lolan Hill followed Karys’ lead.

“Ah, did you forget about this too?” Seeing Lolan Hill’s lack of emotional response, Karys immediately guessed something.

“Mm.” Indeed, she didn’t know. After all, she wasn’t Ragtidis, Lolan Hill thought to herself.

“You must have forgotten again,” Selene affectionately stroked Lolan Hill’s head before continuing. “This is something I recently developed, a way to store memories in a special gemstone so that scenes and images can be recreated.”

Isn’t this a legacy gemstone? The girl thought.

“I haven’t decided on a name yet. How about you two come up with one?” Selene smiled.

“Call it a Memory Gemstone. You are the witch of the purple moon, Selene,” Karys suggested, raising her finger.

“What about you, Ragtidis?” Selene didn’t directly adopt the suggestion but turned to ask the nearby Ragtidis, not wanting to overlook the junior.

“How about calling it a Legacy Gemstone? It could pass down much knowledge,” Lolan Hill tentatively suggested, also confirming whether such a gemstone existed in this era.

“Great name! I thought you’d call it a Diary Gemstone since you wanted to use it for writing back then. So you wouldn’t have to write yourself,” Selene affectionately pinched Lolan Hill’s cheek.

“Then let’s go with that name.”

“Have you asked Trinasha?” Lolan Hill suddenly asked.

“No, why?” Selene was curious, after all, it wasn’t a big deal.

“Nothing.” Lolan Hill shook her head.

“She probably still remembers how Trinasha helped her get a name. Huhu~” Karys covered her mouth and laughed.

“Trinasha likes to add the ‘si’ sound at the end of names because she thinks it sounds cute for girls.”

“When we were brought back by Trinasha, she named us all. At first, it didn’t seem like much, but later, when Ragtidis asked about the origin of her name, she felt a bit down.”

“Because I’m special, I don’t want to be like everyone else.” Lolan Hill instinctively spoke this sentence, which seemed to be the original owner’s answer etched in her memory.

“Okay, okay, hahaha, Ragtidis is just so cute,” the witches around them teased, filling the courtyard with laughter once more.

Lolan Hill woke from her dream, and the scene of the witches’ gathering felt like it happened yesterday, lively and bustling.

Is this what coming back feels like? She wondered, but quickly realized it wasn’t so, as she was still in the form of Ragtidis.

The young girl sitting in front of the dressing table was still so adorable, with light pink hair tied into two spiral pigtails that had grown longer, turning blue at the ends. She was still wearing a blue-and-white dress, except her stockings were now pure white.

How can I change back? Lolan Hill felt somewhat distressed.

She circled the small house but found no clues, so she went downstairs and opened the door to step outside.

The world remained as sweet and tranquil as ever, with gentle winds blowing and candies growing in sandy soil, forming a colorful path leading to a distant pond.

There was no one else in this world besides her. As she considered jumping into the pond, the water began to glow faintly, and two figures emerged—one large and one small.

The larger figure was familiar, none other than Karys. The smaller figure was an 8-9 year old blonde girl.

“Are you here to greet me, Ragtidis? It’s rare to see you,” Karys smiled, but this time, Lolan Hill sensed a hint of fatigue in her smile.

“What’s wrong, Karys?” she asked with concern.

“Nothing,” Karys shook her head and pulled the little girl beside her.

“Let me introduce you. This is your sister, Ragtidis,” she said to the little girl.

“Ragtidis… sister… nice,” the little girl said shyly and hesitantly.

“Yes, Dorothy is really well-behaved,” Karys smiled.

“This child is Dorothy, a survivor from the capital of the Crimson Empire. She might also be a witch. I want to temporarily entrust her to you. Is that alright?” Karys hugged the child with both arms, showing her affection.

“No problem, I’ll take care of her,” Lolan Hill replied.

“That’s good,” Karys said, and the three of them slowly returned to the small house. They first let Dorothy take a bath in the shallow green melon basin, then arranged for her to rest on the bed. Soon, the girl fell asleep.

“It seems she is truly exhausted, worried and frightened these days.”

Standing in front of the bed, Karys whispered to Lolan Hill, then the two of them slowly stepped out and came to an open space outside, where there were white tables and chairs.

Karys poured the orange-scented liquid from the white chocolate teapot into two cups, and the two of them sat down to talk.

“The Crimson Empire is gone, and Lady Attadis was killed by the shamans of the orc saints,” Karys’ voice carried a hint of sorrow as she recounted the story of this revered Bountiful Witch.

She always liked to hold green branches and red berries, sitting under the grape trellis, feeding the children fruits.

[The sweat of farming will bear fruit]

[These bundles of wheat in her hands are proof of the bond between humans and the earth]

[Even if no one recognizes me, I still see it]

[To me, everyone will bloom and bear fruit]

[Precious children, I can do so little for you]

[But I will stay by your side. Because I want to praise your efforts]

Attadis often spoke like this. She was the elder of many witches and the object of everyone’s admiration. Such a loving witch no longer exists in the world.

“Don’t worry about me, Ragtidis,” Karys cleared her throat and continued.

“Your abilities aren’t suited for battle, so stay here. This way, when everyone has nowhere to turn, there will be a safe haven.”

“Selene is contacting scattered witches, while Trinasha is currently hiding with Blackthis, evading enemy pursuit.”

“Perhaps we trusted the friendship with the elves too much. They ignored Lady Attadis’ contributions to nurturing and saving the World Tree, instead envying our prosperity. Not only did they not support us, but I suspect they secretly participated in the fall of the imperial capital.”

“Otherwise, those senior powerful witches wouldn’t have died so easily on the battlefield.”

“Alright, that’s enough for today. I should go now,” Karys drained her cup and stood up.

“I still need to help the remaining people of the empire escape their predicament. It’s said they plan to retreat to several islands in the Endless Sea. There, the mermaid tribe led by Lady Fibi will help us, so there’s no need to worry too much.”

“Alright, see you next time, Ragtidis. Remember to prepare some toffee for me~”

“Inside, wrap the sweetest poison,” she waved her hand, and her figure disappeared at the end of the pathway.

For some reason, Lolan Hill felt a tightness and sadness in her heart.
