Chapter 323 – The Misty Corridor

As Lolan Hill and Bumansa battled and conversed in the sky, those below in the courtyard gradually lost sight of the two fighters, their attention slowly drifting away. Some dispersed to spar with familiar people, while others began to focus on the young lady sitting under a tree.

A few of the bolder ones approached her to start a conversation, initially expecting to be coldly rebuffed. However, this young lady proved to be simple and naive, almost appearing somewhat foolish, which emboldened them further as they began asking about various matters.

For instance, where she came from and where Lolan usually went.

“Can’t tell you that, Lolan said it’s not okay to share things about ourselves and the people around us,” Keti shook her head and remained obediently seated on the bench.

“But we’re not just anyone, look, we’ve already met,” one of them argued.

“. Keti turned her gaze over these faces and shook her head again.

“No, you aren’t,” she denied softly.

“Don’t deny it right away, how can you be sure we’re not? Besides, it’s not good to keep secrets.”

“Well, I don’t know, but I just don’t feel like it. There’s something about Lolan and Chris that I can’t explain,” Keti protested quietly.

“Who’s Chris?” At the mention of this name, others began to doubt, as if no one at school had heard of her before. Could she be a relative of this young lady?

The group continued to probe several more times, but Keti remained silent. This made them anxious as the class was about to end, and when Lolan returned, it would be harder to get answers.

“Why do you listen to Lolan? She might be deceiving you, doing bad things behind your back,” one student said.

“That’s not true, Lolan is very kind to me. She even makes delicious food for me,” Keti replied with wide eyes, not believing it.

“Who knows? Everyone has a dark side; you just haven’t seen it yet,” another student sneered, thinking that everyone was making too much of Lolan.

“Maybe she’s using you, perhaps out of jealousy, keeping you isolated so she can control you,” they started discussing conspiracy theories.

“No, no, you can’t say bad things about Lolan,” Keti grew angry, but restrained herself due to Lolan’s teachings.

“But it’s the truth,” a few students continued provoking her as she became flustered.

Keti’s eyes glowed crimson, and flames rose around her body.

“Huhuhu, are you getting angry?” They didn’t sense the danger and continued.

Crimson flames swept through the grass beneath her feet and the bench behind her, nearly engulfing them, when hands pressed down on Keti’s shoulders.

“Can’t do that, Keti. If you did, there’d be no dinner tonight,” Lolan Hill’s voice echoed behind her, stopping Keti from acting.

A few students who hadn’t realized their close call were startled by Lolan’s return, fleeing as she glanced at them with her crimson eyes. They were struck by several blows, falling to the ground in pain.

“Sorry, I accidentally hurt you during practice. Do you need an apology?” Bumansa descended from the sky, the strong gusts stirring up dust, holding a shining straight sword that had been sharpened, reflecting dangerous cold light.

“No, no need,” seeing Bumansa’s fierce approach, they dared not resist, enduring the pain and fleeing.

After settling the commotion, Lolan introduced Keti to Bumansa.

“This is Keti, my current roommate. She’s lost some memories, so sometimes she doesn’t understand things, but Keti is clever and has a good personality.”

“Hello, I’m Bumansa,” the blonde-haired girl looked at the young lady who resembled Lolan in appearance, wondering where such a girl came from and why she was placed with them.

“Hello, I’m Keti,” the young lady answered timidly, feeling she had done something wrong after being stopped by Lolan.

“This is Bumansa, a good friend I met in first year. Her cookies are delicious,” Lolan knew Keti’s interests and introduced Bumansa’s skills.

Hearing this, Bumansa smiled and said, “Yes, I plan to open a pastry shop someday. You can come play at our dorm if you want something to eat.”

“Really?” Hearing about delicious food, Keti became interested. Reborn, she cared mostly about eating and sleeping.

“Really, hehe,” Bumansa responded with a smile.

As noon approached, the battle class ended, and people in the courtyard began to disperse. Lolan took Keti and Bumansa away.

In a corner of the field, Osumna watched Lolan and Bumansa leave happily, feeling increasingly bitter, as if abandoned. These top students had their own circles.

Why did it turn out this way? She had worked hard, was praised by teachers, yet why wasn’t it her?

Today, she didn’t greet familiar people from before but stayed alone in the forest until dusk, then prepared to return.

The orange sunset was obscured by layers of trees, only a little light fell between them. Fallen leaves covered the small stone path, and new green grass sprouted from the gaps. Occasionally, strange bird calls echoed in the deep forest.

Walking quietly in the forest, Osumna could only hear the sound of her steps on fallen leaves. Suddenly, the scenery blurred, and her head felt dizzy.

The world seemed to be tinted with a deep purple, and mist filled the forest, as she walked endlessly.

“Who am I? Where am I going?” She felt lost, looking around, her pace slowing.

Time seemed to blur here. She didn’t know how long she had walked, perhaps a minute, or maybe ten years. Everything seemed to be an endless journey.

In this infinite loop, her consciousness gradually weakened.

Turning a corner, a mysterious woman appeared before Osumna. This woman wore a black dress with a wide-brimmed hat that was pointed at the top, with the bottom of the hat and skirt in light purple. Her face was veiled with lace and black gloves.

She stood facing away from Osumna, seemingly waiting for someone.
