Chapter 219: A Night Under the Stars

On an ordinary day, at dusk, in the meadow, a student suddenly exclaimed.

“Let’s go see the stars tonight.”

Everyone laughed as they discussed it, and this casual suggestion was unanimously accepted. They agreed to meet up later that night by the Lanjian River to stargaze.

In the summer evening, after dinner, students began to gather in the square. Some had already bathed and changed into loose clothes, some carried fishing rods, ready to fish by the river, some brought blankets to lay on the ground for rest, and others carried baskets of food.

Thus, they set off together.

A few students with enhancement abilities from the Angel and Nature sequences cast spells on their classmates, granting them ‘lightness,’ ‘acceleration,’ and ‘recovery.’ With these effects, they stepped lightly over the grass waves in the summer breeze, moving swiftly under the starlit sky.

Due to the additional effects, their bodies became exceptionally light, barely leaving any impression when stepping on the grass, continuing to move forward as if walking on green waves.

The journey from the central school building to the Lanjian River was still quite a distance. After some time, some students felt they weren’t moving fast enough. So, a volunteer suggested leading the group forward like a train.

After a few brief trials, everyone reorganized into a line, holding hands, forming a human train.

The student leading the ‘train’ was from the Magic sequence, ranked 4th, very skilled at controlling strong winds. Between every few people in the ‘train’ were students from the Angel and Nature sequences, casting spells to lighten themselves and those around them, significantly reducing weight and making them float slowly.

The head student flew forward, pulling the classmates behind him, also flying forward. Since everyone was suspended in the air, they didn’t need much strength, which greatly increased their overall speed.

“First, let me lead the way,” a male student shouted, raising his fist forward while holding onto the classmate behind him. The connected line of students moved through the air like a long dragon.

“Hahaha~”

“This is really fun.”

“It’s indeed interesting~”

“The speed has really increased~”

Students laughed under the night sky, letting their classmates swing them in the air. Since they didn’t have to walk, they started chatting in the air.

“Oh, how refreshing the night wind feels~”

“Those flickering lights over there—are they fireflies?”

“Yes, yes, I can see clearly, they are fireflies.”

“What a pity, I can’t use my hands now, I really want to catch a few.”

“Haha, when I was little, I caught them too. Fireflies are easy to catch; they hardly run away.”

“Really? My home is in the North, I’ve never seen fireflies before.”

“Mm-hm, I’ll catch some for you later, it’s really simple.”

Several young men and women began to chat happily. When the leader got tired, another student skilled in manipulating wind, ranked 4th in the Nature sequence, took over, continuing to lead the group through the air. Occasionally, they encountered other students on the way, causing exclamations of surprise and laughter.

“Lalalala~”

“When I get there, I’ll sing a song.”

“Don’t bother, your voice would just ruin the scenery.”

“Haha, I’m going to sing, come on hit me~”

“Oh no, I forgot to bring spices.”

“Forget it, we’ll just sprinkle some salt on the fish later. I’ll have to show off my cooking skills another time.”

After changing leaders twice, the class finally arrived at their destination, a grassy area on a dam by the Lanjian River.

“We’re here.”

As the words fell, everyone held hands and slowly landed on the ground, then stood still to admire the beautiful night scene.

The quiet river flowed steadily, its wide surface reflecting the moon above, shimmering with light. Occasionally, one could hear the gentle sound of water gently washing the riverbank.

“How beautiful~”

A female student pointed to a distant bridge, exclaiming naturally and delightedly.

The Bridge of No Setting Sun spanned the entire Lanjian River. Fourteen massive pillars stood in the river, with orange-yellow streetlights neatly lined along the road on either side. Occasionally, carriages and maglev vehicles passed over the bridge, their lanterns illuminating the darkness like slowly moving stars.

The evening breeze brushed the grass by the riverbank, the grass leaves lightly touching the calves and ankles, giving a slight tickling sensation. All around were the continuous chirping sounds of insects. Although noisy, once you approached, the sounds would disappear, making it hard to find the insects.

After arriving at the riverside, everyone scattered, doing what they liked.

A few excited students ran to the riverbank, sat down happily, and prepared to fish, but found they had forgotten to bring bait. So, they went around catching bugs to use as bait.

Some climbed a hill to howl at the moon, their throats emitting distant sounds, imitating lonely beasts. Others searched for dry branches to gather together and start a bonfire.

Lohil watched the joyful scene in front of her, using her hand to tidy up her hair that had been blown askew by the wind.

“Lohil, come over here~” a few familiar girls waved at her.

“Okay, wait a moment.” The silver-haired girl responded, first untying her light blue hairband, biting it between her teeth. Then, she used both hands to smooth out the messy hair at the back of her head, took off the hairband, tied it again at the back, adjusting it into a light blue bow.

The evening breeze brushed past, bringing a gentle and comfortable touch. Lohil wore a white off-shoulder dress tonight, with only a small amount of lace patterns on the cuffs and hem, designed to fit closely, showing off her slender and graceful figure.

On one side of the grass, a few girls had already spread out blankets, inviting Lohil to sit. Some others took out some snacks they had prepared earlier, arranging them on the blanket. A few pale blue magic orbs floated around the blanket, illuminating the surroundings.

“Lohil, finally you’re here, come, eat this.”

“Thank you.” Lohil took off her shoes, wearing white silk socks, and walked slowly towards the blanket, kneeling down. A few girls handed her some snacks, including candies, cookies, and small pastries.

Seeing everyone’s kind expressions, Lohil couldn’t refuse, so she accepted them one by one and sat there slowly enjoying them.

Looking at Lohil eating quietly, the girls in her group had a look of fondness in their eyes.

“So cute~”

“I want to hug her.”

“She’s irresistibly cute~”

Sensitive ears picked up the girls’ whispered discussions, making Lohil feel shy, and she ate more slowly. It wasn’t until the exclamations from nearby broke this embarrassing scene.

“Look, there’s a shooting star.”

In the vast summer night sky, the Milky Way was faintly visible, with countless stars like the sea. A speck of starlight broke through the dark night sky, falling to earth.

Thank you, Xue Bingzhiwu, Yedewubingmeng, Meixiaoshaoxiaotian, and Shangshiruoshui, for your support!
