Chapter 28: Demonic Beasts of Dexilam
“Although this lady is human, she surpasses racial boundaries with her egalitarian ideals. She respects our customs and culture and offers us protection.”
“Facing such immense grace, such noble virtues, and such formidable presence.”
The old rabbit’s sharp eyes slowly swept over the crowd, each word spoken deliberately.
“Our answer is clear.”
“It is to pledge our loyalty to her.”
Rabbits raised their fists one by one, their expressions filled with emotion, as countless voices swore their allegiance.
“We are willing to follow Princess Lolan Hill to the death!”
The uneven chorus of vows echoed like a vast ocean, reverberating through the deep mountain valleys, traveling far and wide.
Hidden shadows in the mountains began to stir, some showing signs of agitation.
High above the stone platform, numerous wind lamps lit up in succession, lifting orange-yellow flames that illuminated the sky.
A dreamlike figure slowly emerged from the darkness in the sky, descending gracefully.
First, a delicate foot clad in white shoes came into view.
Then, a pure white lace skirt, light red pleats, and a crimson dress appeared, with seven crimson roses adorning the sides.
Next was silver hair flowing in the night breeze, shimmering under the firelight.
Finally, a face otherworldly, like a moon breaking through dark clouds, stunned everyone present as soon as it appeared.
Her serene crimson eyes, pure and transparent like crystal in the sky, gazed at everyone, devoid of any deceit or impurity, conveying sincerity, purity, and peace from the heart.
As her feet landed softly, the hem of her dress slowly descended, and the crowd finally regained their composure.
Representatives from various villages on the high platform stood in two rows, bowing their heads to Lolan Hill.
“I am willing to accept your loyalty, but dignity must be earned, not given. It can only be achieved through actions.”
Lolan Hill’s crimson eyes slowly scanned the crowd, and red light points floated in the air.
These light points converged like tired birds returning to their nests, eventually forming a beautiful long sword made entirely of magic power before everyone’s eyes.
The young lady gripped the sword with her right hand, sweeping it left to right, creating a long trail of sword light like a red curtain that dissipated into the air.
The rabbits were still bewildered when, after a few seconds, the sound of collapsing trees echoed from the forest in the mountains.
Tall trees were sliced cleanly, their trunks sliding down, one after another, like dominoes falling.
Previously dense black forests instantly became sparse, with hundreds of trees cut down, revealing unwelcome guests hidden within.
Floating wind lamps spread out, illuminating various demonic beasts hiding in the mountains.
There were Sequence 4 Thallox Rhinos, Sequence 3 Guillotine Birds, Sequence 4 Giant Pincers Beetles, and a group of Sequence 3 Gray Bone Apes. Among them, the most prominent were three Sequence 5 demonic beasts: Primordial Sequence 5·Chanting Tadpole, Dragon Sequence 5·Molten Rock Turtle, and Natural Sequence 5·Vine Fairy.
These three demonic beasts were the overlords of the Dexilam Mountains. Although Dexilam was just a small branch of the Sighing Mountains, it harbored many demonic beasts, showcasing its rich natural ecosystem.
A giant blue-gray tadpole floated in the air, covered in strange patterns, with two small black eyes hidden within, barely noticeable.
It wasn’t the previous Sequence 4 Silver Ring King Snake; reaching Sequence 5 meant a qualitative leap in power for Extraordinary Beings, far beyond what low-level beings could imagine.
This dangerous demonic beast stared greedily at the distant red figure, sensing that if it could consume this human girl, it would gain the opportunity to advance to Sequence 6.
Strange patterns on its body glowed blue-white, and a cacophonous wave of sound spread out, like a poorly played violinist sawing iron wires with strings, producing dissonant noise that drove people mad.
Other demonic beasts scattered to avoid the attack, and the rabbits in the mountains staggered, covering their ears, enduring the torment.
Lolan Hill was at the center of the sound waves, which brought layers of airwaves. Standing on the high platform, she remained motionless, her hair fluttering in the wind.
She raised her right hand in front of her, and a semi-transparent magical barrier appeared in the air. Constructed with demonic sequence magic power, the barrier resembled a honeycomb, made up of hexagons forming a half-circle, protecting Lolan Hill.
Then, a blood-red spear gradually formed beside her.
“Mystic Spear·Gungnir!”
With a clear shout, she grabbed the spear with her left hand and threw it.
The inspiration for this move came from works she had seen in her past life. Originally, there was no such thing in the Extraordinary Sequence, but she developed it herself.
Weapons designed to pierce magic and armor were indeed best suited for spears. Generally, Extraordinary Beings at the demonic sequence would cover their weapons with magic power to enhance their lethality, but with her ample magic power, she used it extravagantly to construct weapons, increasing their power exponentially.
The deep red spear streaked across the sky in a straight line, striking the Chanting Tadpole before anyone could see clearly. It pierced through its solid skin and bones as if they were nothing, leaving a large hole. The blood-red spear carved a nearly two-kilometer-long trench before dissipating.
Normally, such a small hole on the giant, bizarre tadpole wouldn’t be a big deal, healing over time.
But this time, it miscalculated. The edges of the blood hole darkened and fell off. It tried to cover the wound, but to no avail. Blood poured out from the wound, and it collapsed, stirring up dust. Finally, only a pool of blood remained on the ground.
Red light points emerged from the corpse, and the Extraordinary Core of the Chanting Tadpole was extracted, forming a gemstone that flew into the young lady’s hand.
Though outwardly composed, she was shocked inside. The way the demonic beast died was too tragic, like accidentally cutting your nail and getting infected, dying before help arrived.
Too fast, too dangerous. This made her realize how ruthless the now-extinct Crimson Empire must have been to invent such terrifying combat methods.
Such toxins not only posed a threat to enemies but also exerted immense pressure on oneself. A slight misstep could lead to contamination of oneself, teammates, and loved ones, causing instant death. She decided never to use such toxins unless absolutely necessary.
