Chapter 24 Fantasized Dinner
“Have you always lived here?” Tides asked curiously.
“Well, I lost my previous memories and woke up in this forest,” Lolan Hill thought to herself, not wanting to reveal that she wasn’t from this world.
“Oh, did you lose your memory? Let me think who might be good at this,” Tides placed her fingertip on her chin, tilting her head in thought.
“There’s no need to worry about it; I’ve gotten used to it and started a new life,” Lolan Hill shook her head, showing she wasn’t concerned about the memory loss.
“Alright, let’s leave the past behind. But, don’t you want to know about your former life?”
“Mm, life always moves forward, there are always new landscapes and new memories.”
“I didn’t expect you to be so open-minded. I can’t do that; I really enjoy reminiscing about people and events from the past,” Tides said with some distress, shaking her small cup in her hand.
“By the way, did you see the spectacle in the sky above the mountain range recently?”
“Hmm? What kind of spectacle?” Lolan Hill tilted her head, somewhat puzzled.
“It was a very beautiful sky, incredibly blue and clear, even revealing a hint of purple. It suddenly appeared through the clouds, and many people saw it,” Tides traced her fingers in the air, leaving a trail of light.
“No, everything seemed quite normal lately,” Lolan Hill had been in a deep sleep and missed that magical scene.
“Oh, it wasn’t you? You were the one who could have experienced it most likely,” Tides was surprised.
“No, maybe I missed it. I was sleeping for a few days recently,” Lolan Hill was uncertain.
“Ah, I understand now.”
A smile appeared on Tides’ face, and she clapped her hands gently.
Suddenly, as if the world had collapsed, the surroundings rapidly transformed. The scenery around them changed into the sky, and beneath their feet lay an endless sea. The sky above was a splendid shade of azure, just as Tides had seen before.
Lolan Hill watched the changing scenery in astonishment. Fortunately, the sensation of the wooden sofa beneath her hadn’t vanished, which allowed her to feel slightly more at ease as she continued to marvel at this magical sight.
Above the azure and purplish sky, stars continuously appeared and disappeared, their light twinkling in some mysterious pattern, even during the day.
So clear.
Looking at those stars, Lolan Hill was greatly shaken; her entire being was captivated by them. Those stars conveyed many things, but the information was too vast for her to fully comprehend. It was a blessing and a sanctification.
Seeing the white-dressed girl before her in a state of shock, her crystal blue eyes shimmering with light, Tides wasn’t surprised but rather felt even more joy.
Indeed, it’s you, our junior, a new witch with divine gifts, one who will bring significant changes to this world.
Witch, the most capricious existence in this world. Legends say they are fragments of fallen deities, born with the power to control domains, ageless and immortal beings walking among humans, mischievous gods.
After a long while, Lolan Hill slowly recovered from that state.
Was that wondrous scene really caused by me? Why did it happen, and what does it signify? Questions began swirling in her mind.
“Feeling better? Don’t worry, because this is your first awakening of talent, hence the phenomenon of world awareness.”
“At the same time, it indicates that the world recognizes your existence and your powers.”
“I’m looking forward to what possibilities you might possess, our junior.”
“Junior?” Lolan Hill was somewhat puzzled.
“That’s right, you’re also a witch, even if you don’t want to admit it.”
“This also means you will bring either beautiful blessings or terrible disasters to this world.”
Lolan Hill still found it hard to believe. The knowledge passed down by Crystalsha only briefly touched upon witches without going into detail.
“Don’t be too afraid. You may feel a bit unaccustomed now after just awakening, but with time, these talents and abilities will become as natural as breathing,” Tides comforted her.
“Do you want to know about my abilities?” Tides produced a delicate folding fan in her hand. When opened, each panel had intricate patterns of light and dark blue.
“Mm, is it a phantom?” The young lady responded, looking at the smiling witch before her.
“Oh, do you know? Uh, Crystalsha must have told you.”
Tides felt a bit disappointed, having finally experienced the joy of being a senior.
Then, she closed the fan and gently tapped it on the table. Suddenly, various
Delicacies of all kinds filled the tables.
Steam rose from the roasted meat, and the ice cubes in the chilled fruit wine clinked softly against each other. The crimson prawns were neatly arranged on the plates, soft hazelnut bread, and a variety of fruits in shades of crimson and emerald filled the round tables in the hall.
Moreover, six large candelabras appeared around the hall, their bright flames illuminating the interior brightly.
“These things are real, you can eat and use them,” Tides said, using a fork to pick up a small piece of fruit and offering it to Lolan Hill.
The young lady took a tentative bite of the light red flesh. The sweet juice spread in her mouth. Could this really be eaten? Would it have any nutritional value?
“These are indeed illusions created by me, but even illusions can become real. This is my talent.”
Tides picked up a tall glass, gently swaying it, and the crisp sound of ice cubes hitting each other echoed.
“Can anything be made? Even living creatures?”
“Living creatures can also be made, just without souls.”
“Meat without a soul,” Lolan Hill muttered, then picked up a piece of grilled meat and took a small bite, trying it out.
In terms of texture, it was quite good, but lacked variation. The middle, edge, and chewiness of the meat should have differences, but this piece of meat was uniform.
It was real, but created according to imagination, not a perfect replication of the original.
“How is it? Isn’t the taste great?” Tides asked proudly.
“Mm-hm, it’s indeed very delicious.” To give her senior some face, the young lady reluctantly praised her.
“Hmm, I am the witch of a thousand transformations. Anything can be created by me,” Tides said with a fan covering her smile, yet her eyes revealed her pride.
Finally, she could show off in front of her juniors. Those old fogies always put on airs, and she had to be mindful of etiquette in front of them. It was truly detestable.
Although Tides acted as lively as a 17-year-old girl, this was only in front of Lolan Hill, whom she recognized as a kindred spirit and companion. In front of others, she would immediately revert to her cold demeanor.
Regardless, she was a genuine witch who had lived for thousands of years, experienced the rise and fall of dynasties, and seen the coldness of human nature.
Perhaps only in front of her own kind could she relax and return to her youthful, lively manner.
(Seeking recommendations, thank you.)
