Chapter 15: When Words Fail, Fight!
As Andrew’s words fell, the air sank into a brief silence.
No one spoke; there were no new movements either.
Everyone patiently awaited the conclusion of discussions.
Mork’s temporary silence conveyed a message.
It signaled that his heart was wavering.
Was he afraid of the repercussions?
Watching Mork, Airael mused in her mind.
If that were the case, Airael could really understand the mindset Mork was experiencing at this moment.
Since Mork had previously rejected them, it indicated that the Beast King had undoubtedly offered him better terms.
The only thing that could make him hesitate now would be something deeply related to the Dark Elves themselves.
When it comes to matters, nothing is more crucial than the continuity and development of a race.
Mork’s current choice would undoubtedly influence the future of the Dark Elves.
He had reached a crossroads—with no retreat regardless of the path he chose.
Shaking her head after a moment of deep thought, Airael realized something.
Even though the Dark Elves were also elves, they had been expelled by the Elven Race and no longer enjoyed their protection.
She didn’t need to worry too much about them.
These fellows were the architects of their own misery.
When humans and orcs battled, they had chosen to participate, so they should have been aware that they would face such scenes and had the courage to confront them.
“Kid, your human goals probably extend beyond just the orcs!”
After quite a while, Mork fixed his gaze on Andrew and said.
The term “kid” coming from him stirred some ripples in Andrew’s calm demeanor.
Even though you are certainly older than me by a good margin, do you really need to call me ‘kid’ while I have this head of white hair and a face full of wrinkles?
The elf Airael couldn’t help but show a strange expression as well.
The dissonance was just too strong.
A “young man” calling an old man “kid”.
While they were indeed at an age advantage, Airael didn’t quite agree with that notion in her heart.
She still considered herself to be part of the “young” crowd.
How could she possibly be an old person?
Setting aside the issue of titles for the moment, Andrew began to contemplate Mork’s earlier words.
According to Mork, he had already figured out some of the underlying reasons.
That was precisely why he had come to help the orcs.
“General Mork, the humans are heading north solely to deal with the orc enemy that has plagued them for so many years. Over the years, the orcs have nearly raided our northern lands yearly, plunging those who live in the north into dire straits. If we don’t eliminate the orcs, our people in the north will remain in misery.”
Andrew attempted to divert the topic, pretending not to grasp the deeper implications of Mork’s words.
However, a keen observer could tell that the old guy was just playing dumb.
“Ha—! Speaking of which, the orcs raiding south are somewhat forced by you humans. The land on this continent is limited, with almost all the fertile ground in human hands. If it weren’t for that, how could other races lack food? The orcs are raiding south simply to obtain resources for their survival.”
Andrew shot back, and Mork matched his banter.
A grand argument was shifting to a tit-for-tat conversation between the two.
Both wanted to portray their actions as the righteous faction.
“Axi, I don’t think we’re needed here anymore, right?”
Watching the two argue, Airael said to Axi beside her.
“Let’s wait a bit longer,” Arthur thoughtfully replied.
He wondered if, after they left, Andrew and his entourage could handle Mork on their own.
Airael nodded, remaining silent.
Her earlier comments were merely to vent her frustrations.
At this moment, it was clear that issues couldn’t be resolved solely by words.
In the end, strength would dictate the outcome.
Sure enough, Andrew looked at Mork and dropped a harsh line:
“Hmph! The land owned by humanity was won by our ancestors with their very lives, and if the orcs want it, they should take it themselves.”
“What’s wrong with that! Speaking of which, it’s not only the orcs; we Dark Elves also want a piece of the pie.”
With that, a hint of greed appeared on Mork’s face.
The resources possessed by humanity were simply too abundant.
Even securing a foothold for himself would be more than enough.
“Just afraid you don’t have what it takes!”
Andrew’s face was now completely serious.
At this point, negotiations were, of course, over.
In his heart, Mork had already made up his mind.
He really had no path to turn back to.
Humans were untrustworthy!
Thus, at this point, it was better to continue cooperating with the orcs.
“Then let me show you if I have what it takes!”
With that declaration, Mork charged directly at Andrew.
Andrew remained unfazed, standing his ground while casting spells, exuding an air of composure.
“Stop him and protect Master Andrew!”
However, those around him didn’t share his tranquility.
Seeing Mork rushing in, the captain of the guards immediately ordered the guards to take action.
As the guards moved, Cain also wanted to join the fray.
But then he awkwardly realized he was unnecessary in the team.
Though he was stronger than them, their camaraderie was seamless, while he had no connection to them whatsoever.
Ultimately, Cain could only stand aside, watching them willingly confront Mork.
He shook his head at this.
Even though these individuals had perfect synergy, Mork was not a common foe—these people were fine against others like him, but against Mork, they might just fall short.
However, they were not fighting alone; Andrew stood behind them.
The first spell Andrew cast was none other than a support magic.
It first enhanced these individuals’ reaction capabilities.
Then he started layering one buff after another on them.
Boosting their attack power, defense capabilities, and conveniently adding some special effects to their attacks.
For example, wrapping flames around their swords to inflict fire damage on enemies.
In just a flash, under the influence of various enhancement spells, Andrew’s guard team instantly leveled up.
Cain watched from the side, thoroughly stunned.
Wow! This is outrageous!
Even a nobody could instantly turn into a battle master, right?!
Even Airael, as a mage, was momentarily awestruck.
Dude, are you a specialist in support magic?
You just layered on so many magic buffs at once!
