Chapter 11: The Overachievers

Chapter 11: The Overachievers

“Let them run if they want to!”

Airael had no intention of punishing the two.

She knew how troublesome those assassins were.

Celia and Aurora had already done a commendable job.

At least they hadn’t been attacked by those two guys, not to mention allowing them to succeed in their assassination.

Then, Airael redirected her focus to the surroundings, casting magical support to the army besieging the city.

Celia and Aurora dutifully surrounded her, protecting her safety just like before.

Thanks to their combined efforts, the territory of the orcs on the city wall was rapidly diminishing.

Those enemies who could originally hold their ground against Cain and Arthur were now looking quite outmatched after Airael joined the fray.

Under such circumstances, their rapid progress on the city wall naturally drew a lot of attention.

“It looks like we might have unexpected gains today.”

Komit, stationed at the center, noticed there was no trouble on Arthur’s side and spoke with a smile.

Arthur’s group was just too impressive.

For other human armies, it was already impressive just to hold the line on the city wall, while they had started expanding their territory there.

However, upon reflecting on Arthur’s team composition, Komit didn’t find it surprising.

Two hero-tier warriors paired with a mage who was definitely at the hero tier made for an incredibly luxurious lineup.

“I find it a bit difficult; dark elves and orcs are not that easy to deal with.”

Andrew, who had been listening, realized Komit was speaking to him and responded.

“Lord Andrew, while we shouldn’t underestimate the dark elves and orcs, we mustn’t crush our morale here.”

Upon hearing Andrew’s remark, Komit felt quite awkward.

Not only did he deflate their morale, but he also undermined Komit’s own words.

Of course, he would never voice those thoughts out loud.

“Sorry, I overlooked that point just now, but I was merely stating facts.”

Though the apology lacked sincerity, Komit didn’t mind.

Andrew speaking up to apologize was already quite generous for him.

What he was truly concerned about was Andrew’s next words: “What basis do you have for that, Lord Andrew?”

“Komit, it seems you’ve forgotten one—or rather two very important figures.”

Andrew’s reminder suddenly tightened a knot in Komit’s heart.

Watching Komit’s reaction, Andrew continued, “Both the Beast King and the dark elf leader Mork have the power to intercept Arthur’s group. Moreover, there are formidable individuals among these two races. They haven’t noticed Arthur and the others yet, but once they do, Arthur and his team will be in danger.”

After speaking, Andrew’s eyes darted toward the city walls.

Observing the battlefield, he sighed inwardly.

Though the situation was shifting in favor of humanity due to Arthur and the others’ efforts, the threats they were about to face were not to be underestimated.

After all, the early bird catches the worm, and standing out too much can easily lead to being targeted.

“Lord Andrew, we should lend them a hand soon.”

“Yes, we should definitely help them.”

Andrew nodded in agreement with Komit’s words.

Just then, Andrew noticed a figure leaping onto the parapet wall, swiftly moving along the narrow structure straight toward Arthur’s group.

Though the target wasn’t necessarily Arthur, Andrew’s instincts told him there was an 80% chance it was them.

And the identity of this person was easy to guess; their build clearly wasn’t an orc.

If not an orc, then it had to be a dark elf.

Thinking of dark elves inevitably brought to mind the significant threat posed by Mork.

Could it be him?

From a distance, and unable to clearly see Mork’s face, Andrew felt uncertain for a moment.

“Lord Andrew!”

Just as Andrew was about to keep observing, he was momentarily pulled back by a shout from Komit beside him, and he turned to ask, “What is it?”

“Lord Andrew, Arthur’s side doesn’t lack manpower. Sending a few soldiers over will have no effect, so—”

The rest of his statement was left unsaid, but the implication was clear.

I have no one left to send; it’s all on you now.

“If that’s the case, I’ll go check it out myself!”

After pondering for a moment, Andrew spoke up.

No matter if that figure was Mork or not, Andrew felt he had to take a closer look.

After all, Arthur and his team were indeed drawing a lot of attention.

This would eventually bring them big trouble.

“General Komit, I’ll leave this side to you.”

“Rest assured, my lord, and please be sure to take care of your safety.”

“Thank you!”

After thanking Komit for his concern, Andrew mounted his white horse and began moving forward, accompanied by his protective attendants.

Watching Andrew depart, Komit shifted his gaze to other areas.

With Andrew on board, Komit knew he didn’t have to worry too much about Arthur’s group.

Moreover, Arthur and his team didn’t require that much of his concern in the first place.

On the white horse, Andrew kept his eyes fixed on the figure moving swiftly along the parapet.

Along the way, some human soldiers spotted the figure and attempted to intercept it, but unfortunately, their efforts yielded little success.

All they managed to do was momentarily pause the figure’s advance.

The price they paid was their own lives.

Andrew, witnessing all of this, internally expressed heartfelt condolences for those brave soldiers.

And that rapidly moving figure on the parapet wasn’t anyone else but Mork himself.

Only someone of his caliber would dare to pull off such stunts in this scenario.

After all, the consequences of recklessly showing off without real skills could be dire.

The closer Andrew got, the clearer this point became.

As he slowly began to confirm it, Mork had already reached his destination.

He leaped off the wall and swung his sword down at Cain, who was in combat with a dark elf.

Cain, deeply focused on fighting, hadn’t noticed Mork’s arrival.

Surrounded by chaos at the frontline, his awareness was compromised.

Although Cain sensed something was off, it was already too late for him to evade.

However, just because he didn’t notice it didn’t mean others hadn’t seen Mork’s arrival.

In a moment of urgency, Airael unleashed a magic shield to help block Mork’s attack directed at Cain.

Mork’s sword struck the golden magic shield.

With Mork’s attack thwarted, Cain swiftly withdrew.

But in the following moment, the golden magic shield shattered, and Mork firmly steadied himself as he landed on the ground.
