Chapter 191: The Orcs and Dark Elves Forge a Bond
Although he was exhausted from formulating battle plans, it indeed relieved some pressure from the main army.
The Dark Elves would not launch an attack until the right moment presented itself.
Thus, his own stress would also lessen considerably.
It was a positive cycle, provided he did everything possible to avoid making mistakes.
Once even a single error occurred, that virtuous cycle would be broken.
“Master, an envoy from the Beast King has arrived.”
In the Dark Elf camp, a Dark Elf entered and spoke to Mork, who was seated inside.
Mork, who was studying the map before him, looked up and replied, “Since it’s the Beast King’s envoy, let him come in.”
“Understood!”
The Dark Elf bowed and exited.
Before long, he led a robed Orc Priest into the tent.
Mork eyed him and asked, “You are the envoy sent by the Beast King?”
“Correct! The Beast King sent me here in hopes that the general will quickly mobilize our forces to attack the humans.”
After succinctly answering Mork’s question, the Orc Priest stated his purpose of visit.
Mork immediately showed a troubled expression, saying, “I too wish to expedite the attack on the humans, but you must understand, we Dark Elves have traveled a long way to get here and are utterly exhausted.”
“The nobles have been resting here for several days now! Haven’t you recovered yet?”
Upon hearing Mork’s avoidance, the Orc envoy spoke rather bluntly.
“Indeed, the envoy speaks the truth; there are still many in our ranks who haven’t fully recuperated. Some soldiers are even experiencing acclimatization issues.”
Mork shook his head in feigned sorrow, his acting quite convincing.
“Is that really so?”
The Orc envoy inquired, his eyes fixed on Mork.
“It’s true. If the envoy doesn’t believe me, I can take you around the camp to see for yourself.”
Mork replied.
“No need. I came here to understand why the general has yet to mobilize, and also to convey a message from the Beast King.”
Mork waited as the envoy readied to speak.
“The Beast King said: if the general wishes to earn the rewards from this battle, then please cooperate wholeheartedly with us Orcs. Otherwise, the Beast King can easily tear up our previous agreement, and you Dark Elves will gain nothing.”
Mork’s eyes narrowed dangerously: “Are you suggesting the Beast King is threatening me?”
“General, the Beast King only wants you to fulfill the agreement we signed. Or are you planning to get something for nothing from us Orcs?”
“Hah—! If we did nothing, could you Orcs really fend off the human army from the Nick Kingdom on the west front? Could you have turned defense into offense in the central front against the humans?”
Mork spoke emphatically, leaving the Orc envoy momentarily stunned.
Primarily because he truly couldn’t find any fault in Mork’s words.
Take the central battlefield they were currently on, for example.
Even though the Dark Elves hadn’t truly exerted themselves, simply standing aside and watching had already contributed to their efforts.
Humans had to retreat to their camps due to the presence of the Dark Elves, flipping the situation and giving the Orcs the initiative to attack.
Noticing the Orc envoy’s reaction, Mork continued: “If there’s nothing else, please tell the envoy to return! Also, pass on a message to the Beast King for me: we Dark Elves will abide by the agreement, and when it’s time to act, we will act. He must also honor the agreement afterward. Otherwise, I will make him regret it!”
The Orc envoy trembled with anger as he heard Mork’s blunt threat.
“Guards, escort the envoy back!”
However, Mork didn’t even give him a chance to speak.
Once he finished dismissing the envoy, he returned to studying the map before him.
“Please see the envoy out.”
The Dark Elf called in from the entrance said this to the Orc envoy without any politeness.
Of course, he didn’t act inappropriately at all.
“General, are you not afraid of angering the Beast King?”
The Orc envoy didn’t leave but questioned Mork instead.
“What if he gets angry? What difference does it make? We Dark Elves will not allow him to dictate our actions.”
Mork paused for a moment, then replied without raising his head.
Clearly, at this point in conversation, a normal exchange was no longer possible between them.
“Please leave now!”
The summoned Dark Elf insisted again, looking at the Orc envoy.
The Orc envoy, filled with anger, turned to leave.
As a Priest, he was not a mindless Orc.
Staying here would only bring him trouble.
This Dark Elf powerhouse was clearly determined to do things his way.
But he definitely had the ability to back that up.
A Twelve-tier warrior—there were not many in the world, and even their Beast King was not among them.
After the Orc envoy reported Mork’s attitude to the Beast King, the Beast King naturally flew into a rage, nearly ready to turn the army’s blades against the Dark Elves.
Fortunately, there were many sharp-minded Orcs in the army, and the Beast King wasn’t completely devoid of sense, so he had to swallow his fury for now.
After all, they were still relying on the Dark Elves.
Moreover, the Dark Elves, while few in number, were indeed difficult to deal with.
Having fewer people had its advantages—they were more nimble and manageable. Plus, such troops could move around easily in battle, reducing their logistical pressure.
Not to mention, despite their small numbers, their overall quality was high!
Besides their own offspring, the Dark Elves were primarily those who had been expelled from the Elven Race.
These folks were all troublemakers.
Only high-quality elves would dare to cause trouble in Elven society.
Even if the Elven Race was no longer in its prime, their overall quality still remained relatively high.
“Master, is it really wise to anger the Orcs like this?”
After the Orc envoy left, a Dark Elf who had learned of the situation sought out Mork to discuss.
“Those Orcs deserve to be treated this way; otherwise, should we let them order us around?”
Mork replied, looking at him.
The Dark Elf shook his head.
He sighed inwardly.
So it seems they had once again forged a bond with the Orcs.
