Chapter 209 Remnants of the Deity Part 6
“You…cough cough…”
The woman gave a light cough. She was almost suffocating from my grip, her pale face quickly turning red. Her right hand reflexively lifted but hovered by her side for a moment before she let it fall.
Unwilling to resist…
Wanting to die!?
“You have caused so much suffering to innocent people…”
The crimson marks symbolizing the power of the inferno flashed across her face, but the dark smoke rising from beneath her grew more intense. Countless thin black smoke snakes swiftly circled around me and the dancer, and in my vision, the woman’s flushed face became increasingly astonished.
“Your power… this is… ugh…”
She seemed to want to say something, but the words were strangled back. I tightened my right hand, intending to lift her off the ground, but when I realized I couldn’t reach high enough, my expression turned angry and mocking.
“You broke the seal, releasing… heh, the goddess’s flesh? The true demon? It plans to take revenge on humanity. This is what you said…”
“Wait… Silvajia…”
“It was you who released it… You killed so many people! You did such things! You can’t make it right, yet you’re here, wallowing in self-pity! What, do you want to just die?!”
Even though I don’t fully understand what this so-called “truth” really is…
Whether it’s a lie or a carefully planned deception, regarding the dancer’s words about the deity’s revenge and her desire to end all suffering and the appearance of the abyss, I don’t know how these connect to her wanting to break the seal on the goddess Diana’s body.
For the original purpose of the Gate of Truth, the dancer’s long-cherished wish and ideals, the reasons behind Teresa’s insane actions, what blood beads are and why those things could break the seal on the goddess’s body, where the dancer got this information, and who or what deceived her, I still don’t fully comprehend.
I only know one thing.
Because of this woman’s supposed “long-cherished wish,” and because she was deceived by something, countless people died at the hands of a plan that involved taking innocent lives. This happened in places like the Catauloma Orphanage, Order Imperial City, Silgaya Republic, Southlands, Aretien City, the Silent Fortress, Stag Town, Woodworth Forest… so many people died.
And now, this woman tells me that she was wrong, that things didn’t develop as expected, that she made mistakes, that those people died for nothing, that she originally wanted to save them, that the Gate of Truth wanted to save the world, but due to insufficient strength, they had to kill some first, only to find out later that they still couldn’t save the rest, that now the demon is awakening, and we are all doomed, that everyone will die with us, and she feels powerless, so she might as well close her eyes and wait for death here.
Hmph…
What nonsense…
“You have caused chaos in Silgaya and the Southlands!”
I raised my fist, wreathed in black flames, aiming for her chest.
“You destroyed so many people who were originally living happily, their families… everything they had. You made them die, made them suffer more than death itself!”
A punch struck.
Bang—
The woman’s fiery figure flew backward out of my sight instantly.
This punch was different from the one I had thrown earlier when I was severely injured. I nearly pulled back all my strength, holding nothing back. When my fist touched her soft chest, there was a clear sound of bones breaking. My left fist had caved in her chest, sending her flying like a cannonball and smashing into a massive rock, estimated to weigh at least five hundred pounds, which was suspended in mid-air, causing the rock to fly to the side.
The dancer fell to the ground, spitting out blood.
I shook my right arm and clenched my fist again, stepping toward her: “Countless skeletons…”
The accumulated blood… had dyed the canal red… Those who survived by luck turned into madmen… You didn’t see these things, but I did…”
Two steps later, Moonwalk stepped out, accompanied by howling winds, arriving instantly in front of the woman. Grabbing her collar, he lifted her from the ground.
“All of those were done by you! The clown was just an executor. You were the mastermind behind the scenes! I know everything, and you are the most ruthless butcher!”
The woman spat out blood as she raised her head to look at my face, and I stared at her silent yet still beautiful azure eyes like a clear sky.
“You are the same as Teresa… No. You are even more cruel, more inhumane… Regardless of your reasons, committing such acts, killing so many people, you have now… failed. Here, you lament and complain. You talk about making the people no longer suffer… What nonsense about salvation…”
His fist swung again, smashing down like a rock.
Boom—
Ashes flew up, fragments of stone scattered. This punch hit the same spot as before, his fist piercing through the woman’s soft flesh, smashing into her chest cavity. The immense impact spread out like ripples, her body being smashed into the rocky layer beneath her feet, deeply embedded in the cracks spreading on the ground.
“What right do you have to talk about salvation with me?!”
Breathing heavily, I glared at her, roaring angrily and sorrowfully.
“Silvia…”
In the midst of the scattering dust, the dancer’s voice was barely audible, her originally clear voice becoming extremely hoarse, exhaling like a broken bellows. She struggled to speak to me, “What you said… is correct…”
“I… don’t have the right… I killed… so many innocent people… Although… I never saw them die… But every night… every night, their faces… appear in my dreams… reaching out bloody hands… pushing me into the abyss… every night… this is their… revenge against me…”
While speaking, I pulled my fist out of her chest cavity, hot blood splattering onto my face, dripping, staining my tattered clothes.
The woman let out a muffled groan in pain, her weak words pausing for a moment.
Then she continued, “Cough! Cough… You… are right… I don’t have the right… nor the ability… but… you do…”
Dust and flying debris gradually settled, the dancer covered her bleeding wound with one hand, struggling to crawl out from the crevice, standing up abruptly, grabbing my fist which hadn’t been retracted yet, tightly clenching my wrist.
Her bloodshot eyes stared, blood oozing from her mouth, her exquisite face filled with pain and urgency. However, the originally dull eyes seemed to ignite with a flame.
“The ancient deities’ seal… the power of the fires of karma, the power of order… cannot function here… but… the chaotic fire of the Mother Goddess… can. Although I don’t know why you possess that kind of insane power… but it seems… this is the reason the church sent you here… No wonder… their higher-ups… had such confidence in you… How amusing… hehe, hehe…”
As the dancer spoke, suddenly she opened her blood-stained mouth and laughed.
“Silvia, I may not have… the ability… to stop it… but you can… stop it… Use the chaotic fire to devour the tear of the goddess, that blood pearl…”
She loosened her grip on my hand, tremblingly pointing to a fleshy growth floating above the mountain peak in the distance.
“It’s there… at the top of the divine egg…”
