Chapter 7: Misunderstandings and Airael’s Transformation
Just then, the golden light from the staff and the golden magic array beneath Airael began to fade, and the magical elements in the room returned to a state of calm.
However, the effect caused by the staff did not simply disappear.
Within the palace, especially in the queen’s chamber, the fluctuations of magical elements had alarmed the nearby Royal Palace Guards.
They rushed over here without hesitation.
Airael looked at Hela, proudly waving the staff in her hand, and exclaimed, “Teacher Hela, this staff is really amazing!”
At that moment, she looked just like a real little child.
Lively, innocent, adorable…
Hela, watching Airael’s joyful expression, couldn’t help but smile slightly.
She looked so much kinder like this.
Airael, gazing up at Hela, was taken aback.
Teacher Hela was actually smiling.
But the next moment, Hela put on a serious face again and said, “Your Majesty, while it is indeed a joy to have acquired such a high-quality staff, please do not forget that you still have classes to attend.”
Upon hearing this, the happiness on Airael’s face vanished completely, her spirit deflated.
Although she often reminisced about her school days after entering society, reliving that life was making her realize, apart from subjects she truly loved, the rest of the time was still just as painful.
Moreover, the so-called classes involved only her, with not a single classmate around, making it feel incredibly lonely and boring.
However, even so, she had to earnestly attend classes.
As mentioned before, this was her duty and responsibility.
Just as Airael was about to get up, a group of Royal Palace Guards suddenly burst into the room.
As they rushed in, the leader of the guards shouted, “Quick! Protect Your Majesty!”
Then the room fell into a deathly silence.
The Royal Palace Guards looked around, puzzled by the scene—nothing seemed amiss here!
Airael stared in shock at the guards who had barged in.
What was going on?
Was there an assassin?
Thinking of assassins, a look of fear appeared on Airael’s delicate little face, as she clutched her staff tightly and shrank behind Hela.
Her mind was in a frenzy at this moment.
Assassins!
This existence was not unfamiliar to her; she had played games of this type in her previous life.
Thinking of the powerful abilities those assassins possessed, Airael trembled with fear, her small body shaking.
Though she was the Elven Queen, she was still just a magic apprentice at this moment.
Moreover, she had never experienced a real battle.
She was genuinely terrified of being killed by an assassin.
Hela calmly shielded Airael behind her, her expression stern as she surveyed the intruding Royal Guards.
The elven maidens in the room also gathered around Airael to protect her.
Despite being maids, they were elves—each had lived for at least hundreds of years.
With centuries behind them, there was no way they lacked skills.
Especially Celia and Aurora.
As close maids, they had another identity: personal bodyguards.
In this quiet environment, the Royal Guards gradually realized something.
There was nothing going on in the queen’s chamber.
At that moment, Hela questioned them, “What are you doing bursting in like this? Don’t you realize it would frighten Her Majesty?”
The Royal Guards immediately hung their heads in shame.
The leader, maintaining a bowed position, stepped forward to explain, “Lady Hela, we did not intend to frighten Her Majesty; we simply sensed a powerful wave of magic coming from the queen’s chamber, along with a significant disturbance in the magical elements. Therefore, we suspected…”
At this point, he couldn’t finish his sentence.
Because the facts had proven that there was nothing to suspect.
Hela immediately remembered what had just happened to Airael and said, “The magic wave that just erupted was from Her Majesty. Please remember, this is not to be repeated in the future.”
“Understood!”
The leader responded quickly.
“Now that you’ve understood, then hurry and withdraw!”
“Yes!”
Under the leader’s command, the Royal Guards swiftly exited the scene.
Hela turned around, looking at the still-fearful Airael, sighed internally, and gently comforted her, saying, “Your Majesty, it was all a misunderstanding. You are safe now, so please don’t worry.”
Hela’s reassuring embrace calmed Airael’s emotions considerably.
At the very least, her body had stopped shaking.
She lifted her tear-streaked little face and asked Hela, “Really?”
Airael didn’t want to be so helpless.
But she just couldn’t control herself.
She was genuinely scared to death!
Before coming to this world, she was just an ordinary person, not one of those battle-hardened warriors or mercenaries.
Facing the threat of death, she couldn’t maintain her composure.
“Really! They were just startled by the magic wave you emitted, believing you were under attack by assassins, which is why they rushed in to protect your safety.”
After hearing Hela’s explanation, Airael sighed in relief, but recalling her earlier behavior made her feel ashamed.
Watching Airael lower her head again, Hela noticed the change in Airael’s expression.
She knew the queen had regained her composure but was merely embarrassed by her prior reaction.
So she spoke up, “Your Majesty, being afraid of death is not something to be ashamed of. In fact, most beings in this world cannot face death calmly. Some may appear composed, but deep down, they also fear dying; you merely reacted like most beings would.”
Airael paused, then spoke up, “But I am the queen.”
“Indeed, you are our queen! However, you do not resemble a queen at all in this state. A queen should maintain elegance and grace regardless of the situation, even when faced with something quite embarrassing.”
Upon hearing this, Airael’s body trembled.
She wasn’t foolish; she understood the wisdom in Hela’s words.
That’s right, her current identity was the Elven Queen, and she couldn’t let the thoughts of her past life as an ordinary person affect her anymore.
She had to embody the demeanor expected of the Elf Queen.
Slowly, Airael raised her head, stepping out of Hela’s embrace, and wiped her tear-stained cheeks with her hand.
After cleaning her face, she looked at Hela earnestly and said, “Teacher Hela, thank you. From now on, I won’t behave like this. I will strive to be a qualified queen!”
