Chapter 149: Unbreakable Attack
After letting Arthur rest for a bit, Celia and Aurora accompanied him for another round of training.
This time, Airael took on the role of a spectator from the sidelines.
Compared to the previous fight between Airael and Arthur, their current clash, while lacking in flashy magical visual effects, was still thrilling with the close-quarters dangerous tussle and the clashing sound of swords, certainly keeping everyone on the edge of their seats!
Though Celia and Aurora might not match Arthur in strength, their years of experience were not in vain.
They were both adept at their techniques, and their teamwork was flawless.
Under the relentless assault from the duo, Arthur found himself temporarily suppressed.
Airael watched this scene with a smile.
Elves may have long growth periods, but that also bestowed them with many advantages, providing a solid foundation.
With proper training, every elf can become exceptionally skilled.
However, even though Arthur was being pressed by the two, he maintained a steady and composed demeanor.
Celia and Aurora were just holding him back; making any further strides to defeat him would be challenging.
And if Arthur were to discover the cracks in their joint efforts, they’d be in serious trouble.
Airael sighed internally at this situation.
Although their martial skills were decent, they ultimately fell short against Arthur’s raw power.
Identifying the flaws in Celia and Aurora’s combined technique wouldn’t be an easy feat.
After all, they had been training together for hundreds of years, and their combined techniques were polished to perfection.
Thus, after a considerable amount of time, Arthur still couldn’t turn the tide of battle, forced to defend against or evade Celia and Aurora’s attacks.
While he hadn’t found a way to break through, Arthur was growing accustomed to their teamwork, making his defense appear less desperate.
Seeing this, Airael was even more convinced that it was only a matter of time before Celia and Aurora faced defeat.
The gap in raw power between them was simply too vast.
This difference couldn’t be bridged purely by skill and experience.
Eventually, after some time had passed, Arthur finally seized an opportunity to force Celia and Aurora back.
He spun in place, and his sword created a sharp arc of light around him.
Under the dazzling glow, Celia and Aurora hesitated to attack, fearing they’d be engulfed by the light.
If that happened, they’d be in for a world of hurt!
They both retreated, waiting for another chance to strike at Arthur.
Arthur regarded them with a serious expression.
The challenge posed by Airael’s two guards was beyond what he had anticipated.
While they might not have matched him in raw strength or speed, their martial skills were impressive—no less than his.
Especially their combined attacks, which could be described as seamless.
It was difficult for him to defend against both fronts simultaneously.
Arthur remained still, analyzing.
Before long, Celia and Aurora exchanged glances and charged at him together from both sides.
Arthur had no choice but to meet the challenge once more.
However, this time, their onslaught was much fiercer than before.
Having failed to land a hit on Arthur thus far, they brought out their true might.
They were treating Arthur as their genuine enemy now, rather than just a training partner.
In the ensuing bout, Arthur took a few hits.
Yet with his quality armor protecting him, he was careful to avoid exposing his weak points to Celia and Aurora’s attacks.
Thus, while the blows landed, they failed to penetrate his defenses.
Arthur, upon being struck, felt a slight disruption in his energy but appeared largely unharmed.
Yet, this provided Celia and Aurora with more opportunities to strike at him.
Naturally, they seized these chances.
The two of them worked in perfect harmony, attacking Arthur one after another.
While the situation didn’t bode well for Arthur, Celia and Aurora found it challenging to inflict serious damage.
To maintain their rapid attack frequency, they had sacrificed a significant amount of power in each strike.
If they could keep this up, there would eventually be a chance to hit Arthur at a vulnerable spot, but such high-frequency strikes would undoubtedly drain their stamina, making it impossible for them to sustain for long.
Before long, their once lightning-fast assault slowed noticeably.
During that time, their greatest achievement was merely inflicting some insignificant light wounds on Arthur.
“Looks like Celia and Aurora could use some better weapons!” Airael remarked, feeling a tad exasperated.
Swords aren’t particularly suited for piercing armor; when up against well-armored opponents with formidable strength, using subpar materials is truly a nightmare.
Of course, the best way to deal with heavily armored foes is with blunt weapons.
But blunt weapons tend to be hefty, typically wielded by those with immense strength—like the Orcs.
Naturally strong, they love to use such weapons.
The Elven Race doesn’t prioritize raw strength.
Many elves pursue an agile, nimble approach, favoring swords as their weapon of choice.
Celia and Aurora were prime examples of this.
In this case, to deal with well-armored adversaries, they could only use superior weapons.
However, high-quality weapons aren’t easy to come by.
And besides, if there’s a better weapon available, so too are improved armors.
For instance, her Sword of Dawn failed to breach the defenses of that Orc earlier.
Overall, when it comes to heavily armored units, blunt weapons are undoubtedly the best bet.
Cutting to the chase, as Celia and Aurora slowed their assault, Arthur immediately took advantage and launched a counterattack.
Now, whatever glory Celia and Aurora had just moments ago was swiftly replaced by their impending doom.
They had hoped their earlier offensive would bring Arthur down.
Alas, things didn’t go as planned, and Arthur held firm.
Now, the tables had turned, and they were the ones suffering.
Having shown no mercy earlier, Arthur returned the favor without restraint.
Each strike from him carried tremendous force.
Celia and Aurora, already drained, found themselves struggling to keep pace.
But neither Celia nor Aurora surrendered; they gritted their teeth and pushed on.
They weren’t at their limits yet; they could still fight.
“Alright, let’s call it a day!” Finally, Airael could no longer watch and spoke up.
Though Arthur’s attacks were fierce, he had ultimately held back.
Otherwise, Celia and Aurora would likely be lying on the ground by now.
