Chapter 4: Time to Practice Magic
Airael listened attentively, and Domiya, the teacher, naturally enjoyed teaching with passion.
Besides, Airael was not a poor student.
Even though magic existed only in various legends in Airael’s past life and no one really understood what magic was, those legendary tales provided Airael with some theoretical foundation in magic.
Thus, while Domiya was teaching, Airael could at least grasp the general meaning of her words, if not draw parallels.
It was just that certain technical terms required Domiya to elaborate for her to understand fully.
Before long, the morning’s teaching time had flown by.
Before the class ended, Domiya smiled at Airael and said, “Your Majesty, since we began studying magic theory until today, you have gained a solid theoretical foundation in magic. Therefore, starting tomorrow, we will officially start practicing magic.”
Upon hearing this, Airael was ecstatic, her face barely containing her excitement, “Really? Teacher Domiya!”
She had been waiting a long time for this day.
Magic—she was finally going to officially touch this mysterious art!
“Of course it’s true, I wouldn’t dare deceive our noble Your Majesty about this.”
Seeing the joyful Airael, Domiya subtly glanced at Hela standing nearby and joked lightly, though it wasn’t too disrespectful.
Airael awkwardly chuckled for a moment, unsure of how to respond.
But since she had brought it up, she quickly changed the subject, asking, “That’s wonderful! Teacher Domiya, do I need to prepare anything in advance for tomorrow?”
“No need, I believe Linis has already prepared everything for Your Majesty.”
Airael opened her mouth but eventually closed it.
For a moment, she had forgotten.
Her current identity was that of the Elven Queen, where many things would already be handled by others without her input.
While this life was great—no need to worry about too much—Airael found it a bit hard to adjust to this way of living.
It was just like the life she dreamed of in her past life, where everything was handed to her.
Yet the pressure she had to bear was also significant.
Suddenly recalling Linis’s situation from this morning, Airael lowered her head, her brows furrowing tightly.
She had a guess regarding Linis’s behavior this morning.
She suspected Linis might not have told her the real situation in order to comfort her.
Perhaps things weren’t as good as Linis described.
“Your Majesty, what’s wrong?”
Domiya, who was tidying up to leave, couldn’t help but ask with curiosity upon seeing Airael’s expression.
“Nothing.”
Airael shook her head.
Not wanting to pry further, Domiya smiled and said, “If that’s the case, I’ll take my leave now. See you in the morning!”
“See you tomorrow! Teacher Domiya.”
Airael stood up and watched as Domiya left the classroom.
Among all her courses, besides the etiquette class that was almost continuous, the magic class was currently the most important.
Every morning was dedicated to learning magic, while afternoons were reserved for other subjects.
This also reflected a truth in this world and many worlds: the strong are respected!
As the Elven Queen, she needed to possess formidable strength.
Airael wasn’t really worried about this.
Domiya had previously told her that her magic talent was exceptional, rare in the world.
Thus, becoming a strong individual was just a matter of time.
It was just that it seemed like she was lacking time right now.
The Human Race had declared war on the Elven Race, and it wouldn’t be long before they came knocking at their door.
Yet here she was, the Elven Queen, only able to hide in the rear, unable to contribute anything to this war.
If only she had enough power to participate in this battle!
Thinking of this, Airael couldn’t help but sigh internally.
Although she might not make a huge contribution in a war, she could serve as a symbol.
She was the Elven Queen, standing alongside her elven people to resist human invasion.
In doing so, not only would she boost the morale of the elves and enhance the Elven Race’s chances, but it would also greatly increase her prestige as the Elven Queen, laying the groundwork for her eventual rule.
Ruling—this was the goal that Linis set for her after she arrived at the Elven Palace.
Everything she learned in the palace was aimed at preparing for her future reign.
Thus, Airael knew that since she had become the Elven Queen, she had to satisfy Linis and successfully rule.
It was her responsibility and duty.
Seeing Airael lost in thought again, Hela approached and asked, “Your Majesty, it’s time for lunch.”
Airael snapped back to reality and walked out of the classroom toward the dining hall.
As for the thoughts she had just now, they were temporarily cast aside.
Even if she thought about it, her current strength was evidently insufficient for participating in a war.
Even if she could serve to inspire, her low combat ability would require the Elven Race to expend significant resources to ensure her personal safety.
Airael felt that wouldn’t be a worthwhile trade.
After all, her own life was at stake.
Best to wait until she had enough strength to protect herself before pondering those matters.
Thinking about getting stronger, Airael remembered she was going to start practicing magic tomorrow and stopped to ask Hela, who was following closely behind her, “Hela, do you know if Linis prepared anything for my magic practice tomorrow?”
“Probably something like a staff,” Hela answered frankly.
A staff!
Airael’s expression brightened.
She indeed didn’t have a staff of her own yet.
In that case, a staff was exactly what she needed right now.
“When will my staff be delivered to me?”
“Well… I’ll need to ask Lady Linis,” Hela hesitated, looking apologetic.
On this matter, she hadn’t paid much attention.
Thus, she didn’t know specifically what Grand Priestess Linis had prepared for the Queen.
“Alright then.”
Airael felt a bit disappointed but didn’t blame Hela.
She thought it wasn’t really Hela’s fault; she likely received the news at the same time.
After all, when to officially start practicing magic was decided by Teacher Domiya, not Hela.
Airael turned and continued walking toward the dining hall.
After lunch, she would have a long break, then start her afternoon classes.
