Chapter 3: The Queen and the Maid
Linis’s words didn’t escape Airael’s understanding, even with her not-so-bright moments.
Humans attacking elves were truly a distant expedition, and besides that, they had hidden enemies, which could significantly increase the Elven Race’s odds of winning.
Airael’s eyes instantly shone with a light called hope.
She looked at Linis and said, “Linis, we will win this war, right?!”
At that moment, Airael decisively shed her previous human identity and regarded this matter from her current position as the Elven Queen.
She was rather self-aware about it.
Now, she belonged to the Elven Race, and she was an Elven Queen.
Even if she considered herself a human, those humans wouldn’t see her as one.
“Different races think differently!”
Though she didn’t know if this saying circulated among the human population, it didn’t stop Airael from filling in the gaps herself.
So, in Airael’s eyes, she could only firmly stand with the elves, hoping that the Elven Race could achieve victory in the war.
It was at that moment that Airael truly acknowledged her current identity.
She saw herself as Airael, the Elven Queen, and no longer as some worker from Blue Star.
“Your Majesty, I assure you, we will definitely win!”
Linis replied confidently.
Airael smiled, genuinely happy.
She could feel Linis’s sincerity in her words.
In other words, Linis was really confident about winning this war.
This was good news for Airael, and of course, it made her very happy.
Also, Airael began to trust the Grand Priestess of the Elves, classifying her among her own.
Though Linis had brought her here to become the Elven Queen, Airael had been somewhat wary of those around her.
In other words, she was lonely.
Now, she finally had someone trustworthy and reliable.
With a timely smile fading from her face, Airael looked at Linis and asked, “Is there anything you need me to do?”
Airael felt she had to step up as the Elven Queen and that Linis had come to inform her for a reason.
In this regard, Airael expressed her willingness to fully cooperate with Linis’s tasks as long as it helped win the coming war.
“No, for now, Your Majesty, you don’t need to do anything. I came here just to inform you about this matter.”
“Thank you so much, Linis!”
“Not a trouble at all. Your Majesty, you can go to class now; I’ll take my leave.”
Linis bowed and took her leave.
As she turned, her expression suddenly became grave.
Although she had just spoken to Airael like that, the truth was that this war would not be easy for the Elven Race.
Humans had truly ceased to be the weaklings subservient to the Elven Race.
Back then, humans were quite weak. They lacked powerful magic and relied solely on brute strength in battle.
In terms of raw strength, the muscular Dwarves and Orcs surpassed humans by leaps and bounds.
Furthermore, their weapons and armor were quite primitive.
However, these humans had seized the opportunity to learn and had become the main players in this world.
Their primary subjects were the magic of the elves and the forging techniques of the dwarves.
In this situation, even though the humans’ magic and forging skills were still inferior to those of the elves and dwarves, they had a vast advantage over them—population.
The importance of population goes without saying.
Suffice it to say, a race’s survival and continuation were inseparable from its population.
As for the Orcs, who relied on sheer force and matched or even surpassed humans in numbers, they became no match for humans after the latter acquired magic and quality weapons and armor, and were driven to the barren northern wasteland, which in turn hindered their population growth.
It could be said that although the rise of humans was unexpected, it made perfect sense upon closer inspection.
But how were the Elven Race going to defeat the powerful humans next?
Since learning of the humans’ declaration of war against the Elven Race, Linis had been pondering this.
Though the Elven Race had decent odds, Linis still hoped to raise those odds a bit more.
Due to their population disadvantage, it would be best if the Elven Race could minimize their sacrifices in the war against humans.
Previously, the Elven Race had suffered greatly in this aspect, and their decline was closely related.
Watching Linis walk away, Airael’s delicate brows furrowed slightly.
She couldn’t shake the feeling that things weren’t as simple as they seemed.
“Your Majesty, you should head to class now.”
At that moment, Hela reminded her from behind.
Airael gently shook her little head, trying not to overthink things.
Although she didn’t want to admit it, her identity as the Elven Queen now felt more like that of a mascot.
Airael stepped into the classroom, where Domiya had been waiting for some time.
“Good morning, Teacher Domiya! I apologize for the delay—it was due to some matters!”
With her long silver hair and mature figure, Domiya looked just as Hela had described, showing no signs of anger, which eased Airael’s tension.
Seeing the slightly awkward Airael, Domiya smiled and said, “Since there was a reason, I will forgive you, Your Majesty.”
“Thank you, Teacher!”
“Alright, Your Majesty, you should return to your seat quickly. We need to make the most of our time for class now.”
“Yes!”
Airael promptly arranged herself neatly in her seat.
Hela watched from the side, nodding in satisfaction.
Though Her Majesty occasionally slipped up, her performance was already quite commendable.
Domiya, observing everything with a hint of a smile, thought that no matter how you looked at it, their Queen didn’t resemble a queen at all; instead, she looked more like a well-mannered little maid.
The majesty of the Queen really didn’t show in her at all.
But who could blame them when their Queen was under the strict tutelage of Hela!
Shaking her head lightly, Domiya silently sympathized with the poor Queen and began her usual lesson.
Down below, Airael attentively listened to Domiya’s teaching, the earlier thoughts about Linis already forgotten.
She was truly fascinated by magic—something that didn’t exist in her previous world.
Thus, Domiya’s class on magic was her most sincere learning experience.
