Chapter Fifty: Fight Hard, Turn a Bicycle into a Motorcycle
In the tent of Master Yu Xia at the Water Moon Sect.
“A bunch of useless fools!”
With a fierce shout, several disciples of the sect tumbled to the ground, their cheeks visibly swollen and red.
Yet, despite this, they staggered back to kneel before Master Yu Xia and said:
“Leader… it’s not that we want to slack off.”
“It’s just that we’ve been battling for days, and the casualties are significant. Meanwhile, the demon cultivators are fighting on their home turf, taking it easy.”
“If this keeps up, even if we break through the mountain guard formation, our disciples won’t have the strength to fight the demon cultivators!”
“Right!” another disciple chimed in, pleading, “Moreover, the spiritual cannons consume an enormous amount of resources, and our sect’s store of spirit stones can’t take this kind of waste! This is our sect’s lifeline!”
What followed was a chorus of murmurs of agreement from the disciples.
But in the face of all their pitiful pleas, Master Yu Xia merely became colder.
“Are you instructing me on how to do my job?”
“…We wouldn’t dare, Master.”
“No more words.” She waved her hand coldly, “Crushing the demon sect is imperative. Whatever the cost.”
“Instead of complaining, it’s better to rest up quickly. When the mountain guard formation is breached, that will be your time to fight to the death.”
Her words left the disciples gloomy as they obediently left the tent, murmuring quietly once outside.
Their words were mostly complaints and grumbling.
“Why is the Master being so unreasonable this time? Does she think it’s okay for us to throw our lives away just like that?”
“I’ve only been at the Water Moon Sect for less than three years; I don’t want to die here! I still need to go home and take over the family business!”
“How annoying! Do you think pretending to be dead when the fight starts will work out?”
……
Amidst the low whispers, an unremarkable little disciple quietly made his way to a secluded tree behind the mountain.
He took out a communication device and spoke softly to a chubby middle-aged cultivator on the screen:
“Sect Leader He.”
“Kid, have you made up your mind?” The middle-aged cultivator replied leisurely.
“I have.” A flash of ruthlessness crossed the disciple’s eyes. “I agree to Sect Leader He’s terms.”
“That woman Yu Xia is absolutely insane. For the sake of her daughter, she disregards the lives of hundreds of disciples! It’s truly detestable.”
“We’ve discussed it, and no one wants to die for her daughter.”
“Please, Sect Leader He, save us from this situation!” He bowed down sincerely.
“Hahaha, great!”
The chubby cultivator laughed heartily, closing his fan with satisfaction. “I’ve been waiting for this. Just this one sentence!”
“Everything will go according to our previous arrangement. Once you poison her and send a signal, I’ll personally take care of Master Yu Xia.”
“When I unify the Water Moon Sect, I’ll appoint you as a guest elder, and you can enjoy glory and riches!”
The disciple was overjoyed. “Thank you, Sect Leader He, for your kindness!”
“That Yu Xia woman is ultimately too selfish.”
Sect Leader He sighed with a feeling of righteousness, “Why should her daughter’s life matter while the disciples under her command don’t?”
“To sacrifice so many innocent disciples for her daughter, it really pains my heart to see.”
He said with righteous indignation, “As righteous cultivators, we can’t just stand by and let her act recklessly!”
“When I liberate the Water Moon Sect, I’ll lead you all into a more free, open, democratic, and beautiful new era!”
Such grandiose statements stirred excitement in the disciple’s heart.
“Sect Leader He is brilliant! We, the disciples of Water Moon Sect, have suffered under Yu Xia for long enough!”
“Please lead us into the new era!”
After an exchange of flowery promises, the two discussed the details of their plan. The disciple then closed the communication device, glanced around cautiously, and hurriedly left.
Once he was gone, Young Master Sang, who had been hiding behind a tree for a long time, finally peeked out.
“Oh, so that’s how it is.”
Young Master Sang stroked his chin in thought:
“It looks like even without my interference, Master Yu Xia will likely be betrayed by her allies and her disciples.”
After all, the faster you attempt something, the more it backfires.
These disciples from the sect had been pampered and spoiled.
Making them fight, even a bit, would have them sobbing like babies for a long time.
Expecting them to actually go handle the demon cultivators in a life-or-death battle? They might as well rebel on the spot.
After all, those from the sect have ethics that prevent them from killing freely, but the demon cultivators would actually kill them.
In the end, it seems the good guys are still the ones getting the gun pointed at them.
Though Master Yu Xia isn’t exactly a good person either.
“System,” Young Master Sang suddenly asked, “What about that Sect Leader He? What’s his background?”
[He Hongyi, Sect Leader of the Qiankun Que, Crossing Tribulation Stage Level 3.]
Qiankun Que… that’s also a major righteous sect that could be compared with the Water Moon Sect.
Righteous sects aren’t exactly united; they plot and deceive one another, fearing any one force getting too strong.
Because of this, nobody wants to make the effort to combat the demon sect, allowing them to thrive until now.
Even now that the Water Moon Sect plans to go all out against the demon sect, these people are more focused on backstabbing their allies than on fighting the demon cultivators.
What a bunch of talents.
“But if their plan goes smoothly, won’t that put Master Yu Xia in danger?”
Young Master Sang blinked: “You mean I can catch Master Yu Xia while the Water Moon Sect is in disarray… but that means I have to pass by He Hongyi?”
“This guy is a Crossing Tribulation Stage elite; can I handle it?”
[The host may consider assessing this.]
Tsk.
In the end, it’s something I have to mull over myself.
Though if I just let it go, that’s fine too.
After all, the crisis with the demon cultivators resolves itself without me having to lift a finger.
But if I can truly capture Master Yu Xia, it would be quite enticing.
This is a genuine Crossing Tribulation Stage figure.
If I can succeed in this, I can be considered quite the betters than my master!
In the face of such a significant temptation, Young Master Sang couldn’t help but feel a bit stirred.
…Upgrading the mask mode is quite important.
With an upgraded mask mode, I should be able to survive in front of a Crossing Tribulation Stage elite.
If the plan fails, I can always escape.
After all, He Hongyi wouldn’t abandon Yu Xia to pursue me.
…Let’s give it a try.
Fight hard, turn a bicycle into a motorcycle.
If all else fails, I can just run away.
Thinking this, Young Master Sang took a deep breath and said seriously, “System.”
“Give me all the information on He Hongyi.”
“Let me find out what his weaknesses are.”
[Based on the host’s usage patterns, the system has matched keywords: selfish, snobbish, filial, paranoid…]
Filial? Paranoid?
Young Master Sang suddenly thought of something.
