Chapter 571

Chapter 572: The Lovesick Girl Inside the Ice Mountain

After everyone from the Sang family left, Young Master Sang stood alone at the door for a long while.

He didn’t know what Nian Nian and Yan Rouwan were discussing inside, but all he could do now was pray that the all-powerful Nian Nian could work some magic.

It wasn’t until midnight that Nian Nian’s voice shot through the air: “Come in.”

Young Master Sang took a deep breath and pushed open the door.

Inside, Nian Nian was lounging at the tea table, sipping tea leisurely.

Yan Rouwan sat elegantly on the bed, emanating an aura that could make anyone feel inferior, like a celestial goddess who was untouchable and beyond worldly concerns.

“Senior Sister Yan?” Young Master Sang tentatively called out again, filled with hope.

Yan Rouwan glanced at him coldly, her expression unchanging.

Young Master Sang could only turn to Nian Nian in disappointment, only to find a mischievous smirk on her face.

“Well, there’s nothing we can do.”

“It seems Yan Rouwan’s short memory of just over twenty years can’t compete with the endlessly long stretch of timelessness.”

“Host, if you want to win back Yan Rouwan’s heart, you have quite a long way to go,” she said, patting Young Master Sang’s shoulder with glee.

He forced a smile but didn’t say much.

“At least everyone’s interests align when it comes to dealing with those gods and demons.”

Nian Nian added, “The all-powerful powers have awakened halfway, and now you can use your own rule power.”

“This means that while in the Abyss Realm, those gods and demons can’t do much to you anymore.”

“From now on, you don’t have to worry about them flipping the table.”

Young Master Sang nodded and turned back to Yan Rouwan.

Yan Rouwan still appeared impervious to these mundane matters, showing no change in her expression whatsoever.

Nian Nian seemed to notice Young Master Sang’s hesitation but said nothing. She only walked over, patted his shoulder, and then vanished into thin air.

Now, Young Master Sang was left standing awkwardly in front of Yan Rouwan.

“…Do you need something?” Yan Rouwan asked coolly.

“Well, not really,” he scratched his head, forcing a smile, “I was just thinking since Senior Sister Yan has worked hard all day, are you hungry? What would you like to eat? I can make it for you—”

“Desires of the flesh are the bane of mere mortals. What have they got to do with me?”

“Uh, then how about a bath or something? The hot water is ready—”

“The filth of the mortal realm doesn’t reach me.”

Every word Young Master Sang tried to say was blocked off, leaving him momentarily speechless.

But he didn’t give up. After a brief pause, he said, “So, do you want me to bring Jiao Jiao and Hei Xia over?”

For the first time, a glimmer of emotion flickered in Yan Rouwan’s eyes.

It was promising.

Seeing it was effective, Young Master Sang quickly continued, “These past few days, while Senior Sister Yan was busy recovering power, I took care of Jiao Jiao and Hei Xia, and they’ve gotten all chubby. They haven’t seen their owner for a few days and miss you terribly.”

“Shall I go get them?”

Yan Rouwan remained silent, seemingly uninterested.

Young Master Sang took her silence as consent and dashed out, returning with the two little cats in his arms.

“Senior Sister Yan, look!”

Yan Rouwan glanced at the two cats.

Young Master Sang thought that her innate cat-loving nature might just open up a conversation.

But Yan Rouwan just gave them a brief look before turning her gaze away, showing complete indifference.

At a loss for words, Young Master Sang could only lower his head in disappointment.

“Well, if you’re tired, I won’t disturb your rest,” he said. “In the morning, I’ll come and call you for breakfast.” As he walked to the door, he turned back and said, “Don’t forget.”

Yan Rouwan remained cold: “Got it.”

With a bitter sigh, Young Master Sang quietly left.

After he left, only Jiao Jiao and Hei Xia remained, timidly standing in front of Yan Rouwan.

They seemed to sense that their owner’s aura had become more foreboding and unfamiliar than before, leaving them unsure if they should approach.

Yan Rouwan gazed at the two little cats with otherworldly eyes.

In the next moment, she gently blinked.

Suddenly, amidst a puff of smoke, they transformed.

…Into a black and a white catgirl, both dressed in lacy dresses and black and white stockings, with slightly curled short hair.

“Meow! M-Master…”

Before Jiao Jiao and Hei Xia could grasp the situation, Yan Rouwan softly spoke:

“How has he treated you these past few days?”

Jiao Jiao and Hei Xia exchanged glances and whispered, “Very, very well… He feeds us daily, brushes our fur, and plays with us…”

Yan Rouwan slowly nodded.

“Have you made him happy?”

“Sometimes… When we saw his mood seemed low, we stayed close to him to comfort him, licking his fingers and palms…”

“Very good.”

Watching the two slightly nervous catgirls, Yan Rouwan gently said, “Don’t be tense. From now on, you need to be close to him. Do whatever makes him comfortable.”

“If he likes cats, turn into your cat form to play with him. If he prefers human form, you can use that to please him as well.”

“Just don’t let anyone know about me,” Yan Rouwan reminded.

Jiao Jiao and Hei Xia exchanged looks, nodded, and relaxed, wagging their tails as they approached Yan Rouwan for more affection.

“Got it, Master! We’re the best at pleasing humans!”

Yan Rouwan nodded, and after a moment, suddenly spoke, “I actually need you to do one more thing.”

——

——

Back in his room, Young Master Sang let out a deep sigh.

“…Nian Nian. What did you talk about with her?”

“Nothing much, just some casual chit-chat,” Nian Nian replied absentmindedly, “This all-powerful person has been a tight-lipped person for millions of years, very hard to chat with. I didn’t have much to say.”

“Otherwise, why do you think that after becoming Yan Rouwan, she’s still so awkward? She was one of the first to be charmed by you, yet here we are, still no romantic fruit.”

Young Master Sang’s eyes suddenly filled with melancholy.

“If I’d known Senior Sister Yan would make such a huge sacrifice, maybe I should have been more proactive back then.”

“It’s not too late now,” Nian Nian nudged her glasses. “Now, just think of it as a new pursuit.”

“Remember how Xu Hongyi stuck to you a few days ago? Just do the same to win her over, and you might just touch her heart.”

Mentioning Xu Hongyi made Young Master Sang pause for a moment before he chuckled bitterly.

“Now that I think about it, my indifference to Xu Hongyi was probably my punishment.”

While they were speaking, Young Master Sang suddenly noticed that Jiao Jiao and Hei Xia had quietly climbed in through the window, though “quietly” might not be the best description.

They walked over to his wardrobe, one of them carrying a piece of his underwear, and then hopped out the window, heading toward Yan Rouwan’s room.

Young Master Sang: “?”

“What are they doing?”

Nian Nian replied, “Well, you know, cats sometimes play pranks. Hahaha.”

Young Master Sang wanted to chase after them but then thought better of it. Going into Yan Rouwan’s room might just make her more disgusted with him, so he sighed helplessly, “Forget it, I’ll deal with it tomorrow.”

Little did he know, in Yan Rouwan’s room at that moment, the previously indifferent fairy was now blushing furiously, holding her underwear to her face, deeply inhaling the scent.

“Ah… his scent.”

“Hehe.” Yan Rouwan chuckled, utterly enchanted.
