Chapter 48

First, I somehow managed to get through that situation.

Right now, I’m inside a mansion located slightly away from the royal castle. It was originally built to confine someone, so it’s structured in a way that makes escaping difficult.

But that doesn’t mean I’m trapped here.

Rather… how should I explain this?

“Oh, ohhh! My skin feels smooth again! My body reverted to its 20s!”

“I’ve never brushed my hair since becoming an adult, but what is this silky feeling?”

“Does this mean my itchy and scaly skin isn’t bothering me anymore?”

Every day, three people come for blessings. Word spread that I could bless up to three people daily, so the kingdom sent hopeful candidates. That’s already been going on for three days.

On the first day, there was only a man presumed to be a soldier. But by the second and third days, thanks to rumors, more people who looked like nobles started showing up.

When they receive my blessing, older individuals grow younger, and illnesses improve. Even someone suffering from something akin to eczema got healed.

And their reactions? Well, you saw them.

“I believe!”

They’re gonna go nuts.

No, believing is fine, right? I can already see the potential—once I move to another world, I can increase the number of blessed individuals and build my own power base.

But things are kinda awkward right now.

You see, Tisah keeps getting increasingly annoyed as she writes furiously in one corner. If I keep stressing her out like this, she might have some nasty ideas…

Like adding weird spells into the summoning magic?

And if *that* happens, I might pop out all bubbly and cheerful, only to explode with a “BOOM!”

So once she finishes writing this book, we need time for experiments. But finishing the book takes time, and sending it to others also takes time.

If I draw too much attention and clash with the Seongsin Church, that’d be inconvenient.

“Do you really need to change your faith? I’m not here to convert anyone or bestow blessings upon humanity in the name of faith.”

Yet every time I say that, their devotion deepens.

Whyyyyy?

What do I gain from having them believe in me? I just wanna return to normal life and do whatever I want, ya know?

For most people, after receiving my blessing, their appearance improves drastically, so they can finally pursue things they couldn’t before.

“Instead of wasting time believing in me, focus on doing what you truly desire. Your lives as humans are short.”

So why are you all staring at me with those shiny eyes?

Ah, don’t tell me… Light-Faded Guy says, “This is humanism! The subject shifts from gods back to humans!”

Who doesn’t know about the Renaissance?! We were taught that it’s about regressing to ancient Greece and Rome—but here you go twisting it to suit yourself! Back then, humanism arose because the Black Plague made human life precious; nowadays, claiming divine authority would only strengthen faith in gods even further.

Thus, it’s better to view my blessings as simple upgrades.

Pointlessly clashing with established divinity will cause far more harm than good. Besides, the environment here is terrible.

The Ansellus Kingdom may be ruled by a king, but its roots lie deeply embedded in the Seongsin Church, much like medieval Europe.

Especially since Tisah received blessings directly from the Seongsin god, this region prides itself as the most devout follower of the Seongsin faith.

What happens if someone in charge suddenly starts worshiping another deity?

A revolution wouldn’t be surprising.

Sure, suppressing rebellious citizens won’t be hard in this quasi-modern magical era, but surrounding nations will seize the chance to attack under the guise of righteousness. Why hesitate when such a flourishing kingdom offers a perfect excuse?

Currently, the Ansellus Kingdom enjoys its golden age during Tisah’s reign and his descendants’.

For neighboring countries, another nation’s prosperity equals calamity—they’ll act immediately if given the chance.

So instead of worshipping me, I tell them to indulge in their desires.

“Go ahead and find excuses to tackle tasks you’ve postponed until now. That’s what I wish for humanity.”

Wait…

I told them to live according to their desires, yet they ran off joyfully, declaring it as the word of God! They think they must spread this message immediately.

While running outside, they share how lightened and pain-free their bodies feel now.

Middle-aged men and women earlier now look like teenagers, laughing and skipping around like kids.

Bang.

“Well, well, you sure talk big.”

As soon as the door closes, Tisah mocks me with sarcasm.

Hmm?

She seems alive enough.

Yeah, elevating me to godhood feels strange. I’m not a god, so maintaining this attitude toward monsters works better.

“Do you also wish for my blessings, Tisah?”

At my words, her hand freezes mid-motion.

Oops.

Did I hit too close to home?

“Don’t worry. I won’t take away your warmth. Humans call containing me ‘blessings.’ Containing me won’t drain your warmth.”

Tisah glares at me.

“When did you start using the term ‘humanity’? You never used it back when you were in the place Rabo created. Back then, you seemed naive, almost like a girl unaware of worldly matters. Or was that all an act?”

After spending half a year in the same room, she should figure it out by now.

Let me seize control of the conversation.

“Your hands stopped moving, Tisah.”

Upon hearing my words, Tisah forces a fearful smile onto her face and lowers her gaze again.

Good. Keep going. Writing the book is the priority. I’m here solely for that reason.

“To answer your curiosity, Tisah, it’s because you wished for it.”

“What?”

Tisah stares at me in shock, completely clueless.

“You called me an outsider, didn’t you? So I played along. Isn’t Tisah the person who understands me best in this world?”

You summoned the very god you desired.

Because you referred to me as a god, I’m playing along.

Now, what’s appropriate for planting guilt?

Oh, yeah.

Names usually mean nothing to me, but regular folks believe names carry great significance. Despite being mere symbols to distinguish individuals among crowds, people attach excessive meaning to them.

Believing names hold power exists across various cultures—it’s one of the shared cultural traits.

This world likely holds similar beliefs, so let’s use that.

“You gave me a title to call myself by.”

Heheh.

Her expression turns deathly pale instantly.

It’s as if she realizes that summoning me happened due to her actions.

Truthfully, I’m just a monster that desperately needs human warmth.

She must’ve forgotten what I said when she asked about my true identity before. Had she remembered, she’d realize I’m merely teasing her now.

I’ve forgiven her.

Saying it aloud makes it true.

Lying here would undo all my efforts to avoid lies thus far. One small fib can easily crumble everything.

Even geniuses capable of organically connecting all lies together are rare—I’m definitely incapable. Impossible means impossible.

So I’ve forgiven her. But tormenting someone I care about is fair game, right?

Look.

She’s writing down the summoning ritual that’ll unleash me upon the entire world!

How could I not love her?

Right?

Tisah remains silent.

Since she’s diligently writing, I wave encouragingly and sit back in my chair.

The actions of the Ansellus Kingdom concern me.

The king sent someone to inquire at the local branch of the Seongsin Church in the capital of Ansellus.

The inquiry includes stories about Tisah, why his contract hasn’t vanished, and even mentions criticism from the original contracted deity.

Thankfully, this isn’t a place with electronic administration.

Yesterday, the king sent a letter, but no response has arrived yet.

Though replies to the king’s personal letters often come quickly, this issue might require escalation to the church headquarters instead of just the branch.

Both the king and his subordinates know this.

Still, they seem lost in thought.

Based on their discussions, my statement about freeing humanity must’ve left quite an impression.

They gathered many people for debates.

Among them, those who favor me were selected and sent over.

Today marks the third day, and I’ve blessed a total of nine people.

Of course, excluding royals.

Receiving my blessings brings many changes: purple hair, snow-white skin, enhanced physical abilities, and for one special individual, unique powers.

Once I return to the palace, I record and analyze these transformations. I already know the results of the first six cases.

The king reviews these reports.

“Significant physical improvements observed. Likely due to heightened physical strength.”

“No signs of mental contamination.”

They’re checking thoroughly.

Yeah.

Leaders can be dumb sometimes, but it’s tough for someone building a great nation to be stupid.

The more they investigate, the deeper they’ll sink. That’s because I genuinely bless without twisting anyone’s consciousness.

At most, I subtly embed ways to summon me.

True. I insert bits of Yasure’s memories into everyone I bless. Most people won’t notice unless they’re overly sensitive.

That’s why the book is crucial.

Yasure’s memories are dangerous. Mishandling them might trigger his hatred, which carries immense emotional weight.

We need to trim down that emotional capacity—and eliminate any potential risks.

Wouldn’t it be better if people became violent?

Nope.

Humans should think rationally. Acting purely on emotions creates barriers. Only when driven purely by logic can humans unleash boundless destruction. Rationality ensures emotions follow smoothly.

The memories of Light-Faded Guy contain countless examples—from world wars to the Cold War, and beyond.

Yeah.

That’s why I take no mental interventions while blessing people.

I believe that once someone gains power, they’ll naturally offer me their warmth.

So please don’t think of me as a god. Just consider me a plain old blessing dispenser. That way, after efficiently using me, you’ll eventually confront the blood on your own hands.

Heheh.

I approached Tisah and poked her like an editor waiting for her manuscript.

Hurry up! Faster!
