Chapter 78: Airael’s Outburst
In a desperate bid to prevent Sko from approaching Airael any further, the knights charged headlong to block his path.
Hudeman also rushed over, eager to stop Sko.
While their gallantry was admirable, the current Sko was far beyond what they could handle.
His focus was razor-sharp, with only one target in his sights—eliminate Airael, the annoying mage.
To achieve this goal, he summoned every ounce of his strength.
In simpler terms, Sko had erupted.
Before this explosive power, even Hudeman seemed a bit inadequate.
As Hudeman approached Sko, Sko had just dispatched a knight standing in his way.
Yet, before Hudeman could even strike, Sko casually slammed an axe against his chest.
Hudeman didn’t even have time to react before he was sent flying by the force of Sko’s strike.
A noticeable dent marred the armor covering his chest.
With a loud “boom,” Hudeman crashed harshly to the ground.
He looked utterly in pain, especially at the spot he instinctively covered with his hand—the pain there was unbearable.
He felt as though his insides had been shattered by Sko’s earlier blow.
In this state, forget about continuing the fight; he couldn’t even get back on his feet.
“Glorp—!”
Noticing Hudeman’s pitiful condition, Airael instinctively swallowed hard.
What a drastic difference this was!
Although the scene appeared surreal, it had its bases in reality.
Hudeman had been able to withstand Sko’s attack before because he was fully on the defense while aided by Airael’s magic, and Sko was not in his explosive state at the time.
Even then, it was only barely.
Now, however, it was an entirely different story.
Sko had unleashed immense power, and he had lost the magical aid from Airael.
Calculating it all, the previous scene didn’t seem so exaggerated anymore.
Airael felt increasingly anxious.
She stumbled back, her retreat becoming frantic.
Her prepared magic almost slipped away because of her panic.
In this state, Sko was terrifying, and a single misstep could cost her life.
As Sko broke through the knights’ blockade, the much-prepped magic from Airael finally completed.
Before her, a blue storm of lightning energy formed, containing the most powerful attack magic she could unleash right now.
With Airael’s guidance, the storm shot through the air toward Sko.
It flew at a rapid pace.
However, Sko didn’t seem to have any intention of dodging; he charged straight towards Airael.
They collided mid-flight.
“Boom—!”
The storm exploded, lightning energy rampaging around and whipping up a fierce wind.
Airael shielded herself from the gales while observing closely.
Sko finally halted, standing stock still.
Residual lightning energy continued to rattle around him.
The leftover sparks crackled incessantly.
Airael frowned slightly, a thought she barely dared to entertain flickering in her mind: Could he actually be defeated like this?
Just as that thought crossed Airael’s mind, Sko moved.
He twisted his body, emitting pops and crackles.
After shaking off the tension, he charged anew toward Airael.
But just then, another knight rushed in to block his path.
Airael regained her focus, without time to hesitate, she swiftly switched weapons.
At this moment, she couldn’t afford to hold back any longer.
With her left hand gripping the Staff of Eternity and the Sword of Dawn in her right, she stood her ground.
There was little space left for retreat.
In such a situation, it was a test of courage.
While retreating didn’t mean lacking bravery, it undoubtedly affected one’s mindset.
Once Sko cleared away those pesky knights, he set his eyes on Airael standing within the massive Golden Magic Circle.
With just one more step forward, he would cross into the circle’s domain.
Currently, the distance between him and Airael was about twenty meters.
That meant Airael’s magic circle had a radius of approximately twenty meters.
Twenty meters was close; Sko could dash across it in the blink of an eye.
But right then, he hesitated.
Though there was no wind, the overwhelming magical energy surrounding Airael had created a magical breeze.
Her golden ponytail swayed gently behind her.
In this moment, Airael exuded an air of mystery and strength, radiating a palpable sense of authority.
People couldn’t help but feel a wave of trepidation in her presence.
Even the newly arrived knights were hesitant to act, caught off guard by the scene unfolding.
They hadn’t anticipated this development.
After Sko erupted, their mage, Ailia, had also unleashed her power.
And it seemed like Ailia post-eruption was no weaker than Sko.
“Orc!”
Addressing Sko, Airael declared, “You will soon bear the brunt of my fury!”
Her voice resonated with magical power, delivering a profound psychological jolt to Sko.
Reeling from the assault, Sko shook his head vigorously and bellowed in rage at Airael: “Roar—!”
Then, disregarding everything, he charged at Airael’s direction without a care.
Seeing this, Airael raised the Staff of Eternity lightly with her left hand, then brought it down forcefully.
The ground caved slightly under the impact of the Staff.
Though the hole was small, an invisible, powerful wave of magic erupted forth.
Walls of earth shot up between Airael and Sko, blocking his advance.
Sko didn’t dodge or slow down; he intended to plow right through.
Then, one earth wall after another crumbled as Sko smashed into them.
His expression was utterly frenzied.
He had lost his rationality and entered a state of rage.
However, his target remained crystal clear—Airael.
Surrounding knights stood dumbstruck, witnessing the spectacle.
Such a scene was truly a rare sight!
Despite Sko’s relentless approach, Airael did not retreat.
Soon, another powerful surge of magic radiated from Sko again.
Right after that, bolts of blue electricity burst forth from the Sword of Dawn in Airael’s right hand.
The blue currents coursed along the entirety of the sword, turning it into a Lightning Sword.
This was an auxiliary magic spell that could be considered an attack.
Its name was quite simple: Thunder God’s Sword!
