[World Quest Clue Summary]

A long list scrolled across Eil’s personal interface as he sat atop a carriage, meticulously reading through each item.

Though their next destination wasn’t too far away, Eil made sure to use every spare moment effectively.

Gathering information was crucial for survival, never to be neglected.

After blinking his tired eyes and looking up, the approaching destination came into view.

“Haha, what a magnificent sight!”

An impressive canyon rose dramatically from the plains they had been crossing, with massive walls spanning between the steep cliffs. The mist swirling around added an enchanting charm, showcasing the grandeur of the walls.

Even after seeing many stunning views in Warode, including Queen’s Blonde, the King’s Tomb, and the White Forest, every new region always brought breathtaking scenery.

Clop clop!

With the sound of hooves, the carriage entered through the open gates.

Eil’s carriage looked like a tiny ant compared to the countless people traversing the canyon passage.

Kalpea Gateway.

This key midway point connected the two major cities of Rakporter and Duel, serving as the only easy passage through the towering cliffs that cut across the surrounding plains. It was an unavoidable stop for many travelers.

On one side, merchant users rested after trading journeys, while on the other, soldiers in black armor were stationed.

NPCs from Nightmare patrolled the walls above, guarding this important border area. Members of the Wind Shear guild under Nightmare’s command could be seen riding by in groups.

“Hmm…horses…”

While most people were drawn to the guild members themselves, Eil found himself observing their sturdy warhorses.

Horses offered more flexible and faster travel than carriages, making them ideal for guild operations. However, for individual users not part of a guild, maintaining a horse was quite troublesome.

Not only were feeding and care costs significant, but leaving a horse tied to a tree near a hunting ground often resulted in theft. This meant regularly stopping at villages or cities to stable the horse, which wasn’t ideal.

Thud!

Eil stepped down from the carriage and looked around.

Despite being built as a defensive structure, the tall walls surrounded a bustling town area with plenty of facilities.

With so many users passing through, this location was more profitable for guilds than many regular towns or fortresses.

“Looking for one last member for our Royal Seal party! Seeking level 30 or below!”

“Any healers available?”

The nearby Kalling Forest, home to royal seals, was close to Kalpea Gateway, leading to many parties forming to tackle it.

At level 50 monsters, Kalling Forest was accessible to level 27 Eil, especially since these were considered weaker among same-level enemies, making them popular for seal runs.

However, as usual in Warode, no hunting ground offering good rewards was ever truly easy.

Even if relatively weak individually, the monsters tended to travel in large groups.

Going solo would be suicide for even someone like Eil, and while joining a party would help, it wouldn’t make things simple.

“Which group should I join… Ah, there.”

Scanning the crowd, Eil approached a party whose equipment seemed decent enough.

With only two members currently, he asked if they had an opening for their seal run.

“Ah! Yes, what’s your level and class?”

Danram, who had been looking elsewhere, turned to greet Eil.

“Level 27 swordsman.”

Lifting his sword slightly as he responded, Danram immediately sent an invitation, finding Eil’s appearance and equipment satisfactory.

Normally status windows would be checked, but for this early level range, a casual approach worked fine.

“I’m Danram, level 28 paladin. This is Furyon, level 29 druid.”

“A pleasure to meet you.”

Exchanging quick introductions, Eil learned both were in small local guilds. Checking their backgrounds through his personal interface showed no criminal ties or bad reputations.

No need to worry about getting backstabbed unexpectedly.

“Is Furyon focused on melee?”

“No, I’m full magic. I’ll take the ranged damage role.”

Druids could specialize in various ways depending on skill choices, but clearly Furyon had invested heavily in nature magic.

“With just one more member…”

“How about we go with just three?”

“Hmm… Is that wise?”

While normally a support class would be ideal, Danram hesitated at Furyon’s suggestion.

“Your melee damage gear looks solid. Plus your tank is a paladin. I can provide some healing support, and with potion costs, I don’t think we’ll break too easily.”

Paladins were Warode’s premier tanks, known for their defense-focused skills and self-healing abilities. While their low attack power made solo play difficult, they were highly sought-after party members.

Druids also had basic healing spells, so running without a dedicated healer seemed reasonable.

“Then let’s head out.”

* * *

Keeeee!

A loud screech echoed as a four-legged monstrosity charged.

Approaching the hunting grounds, the party encountered a lone ghoul separated from its pack at the forest entrance. Spotting them, it immediately attacked ferociously.

The ghoul clawed at Danram’s shield and lunged with its gaping maw.

“Ugh! This is no joke!”

Despite its wild attacks, the creature’s strength was considerable, causing Danram to stagger.

Of course, facing a level 50 monster 20 levels above them was no simple task, even for a heavily armored knight.

But Eil wasn’t about to let his party member struggle alone.

Puuuuk!

Spinning around, Eil drove his longsword deep into the ghoul’s back, forcing it to leap away from Danram.

Even with a direct hit to the back, the undead monster didn’t take much damage due to the level gap.

Still, ghouls weren’t particularly durable despite their high level.

Thud!

Bouncing off the ground, the ghoul raised its arms for another attack, clearly targeting Eil this time.

Seeing this, Danram stepped in front, raising his shield.

BOOM!

The ghoul was knocked back by Danram’s shield bash skill, losing balance and falling to the ground.

This created the perfect opening.

WHOOSH!

A brilliant green light streaked forward, striking the ghoul and the ground beneath it.

Furyon’s nature spell, cast from behind, unleashed significant damage compared to simpler weapon attacks.

Following up, Eil’s longsword slashed deeply across the ghoul’s chest.

With its health rapidly dropping, the stunned ghoul struggled to rise but the party kept the pressure on.

Danram held the ghoul’s attention up front while Eil dealt damage from the second line. When the opportunity arose, Furyon finished the ghoul off with another powerful spell.

“Nice job!”

“Clean work!”

With the ghoul defeated without serious injury, the party gathered happily.

Even against a supposedly weaker level 50 monster, taking it down smoothly boosted everyone’s confidence.

From Eil’s perspective, his teammates performed adequately, alleviating initial concerns.

Encountering this lone ghoul before entering the main hunting grounds provided excellent practice.

“Huh…”

Suddenly, Furyon froze in place.

When Danram asked what was wrong, Furyon seemed unresponsive, completely fixated on something.

“Uh… Hey! Where are you going?”

Having spotted something in the bushes, Furyon suddenly ran off.

Following him through the undergrowth, Eil and Danram discovered an unexpected scene.

“What is…?”

A dead deer lay on the ground, bleeding black blood.
